Hello, this is Orym of the Air Asha Beketh Squadron, Communications. I know that there is a lot going on around the ship and everything is confusing and bad, but there might be a bit of good news for you new folks.

With our comms back up, we almost immediately received a signal that was first theorized and then confirmed to be coming from your side of things. It's gotten stronger as we've drifted closer to the proximity of the assumed portal. Long story short, I've been told that they should be able to see this and you lot should be able to communicate with one another now.

So uh if anyone not currently on the V.A.L.L.O. could confirm that, that would be super helpful. I'm sure your people will be relieved to hear from you.

If nearly being eaten by slime yesterday wasn't disconcerting enough, it was more so to find myself in the containment unit that had previously housed an amorphous green slime. He seems rather reticent, but he does do a remarkably good impression of me though I'm sure I'm not nearly so

He appears to be fully human when examined through x-ray, but there is something a little off when tested by magical means. I suppose we must be wary. I understand the DOA has collected what slime samples they've encountered, but there's always the possibility that some have been missed.

To anyone at or near the coast of New Asgard, a Kungfu Dugong appeared in the waters around the Going Merry this morning.



Kungfu Dugongs aren't dangerous, but they do love to fight and will challenge anyone who approaches them.

As I said it seems to have made the waters around the Merry it's home, so please be careful when approaching. Unless you want to fight, then by all means, please feel free.

Kungfu Dugongs are native to an island in the Grand Line. I'm not sure how it found it's way here, but it doesn't seem to want to go anywhere else.

If any of you fight it and win (which I'm sure each of you will at some point), it will become your disciple.

Could you clarify this conversation with me? She's giving me the impression she has no idea who I am, which is silly to consider, given that you apparently talked to her for an hour.

It it strange to think that three months has passed since I first found myself among those now calling Vallo home, and it still feels as though there is no shortage of interesting things to uncover. The sheer volume of books alone, the information stored in this device, it seems endless at times.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone for making this transition into a new world a smooth, and rather pleasant one. My life back home was one that required a certain level of seclusion and covertness for many years, it has been a nice change of pace to speak freely, and if I dare say, embark on friendships.

I would also ask a favour if I could. I am not - entirely alone here in Vallo. Five years ago I took into myself a part of Ultima, a god with rather nefarious designs for my world back home. I have kept him trapped for some time now, and am more than willing to continue to do so. However it is very clear to me that what is possible here may be boundless, and that a more viable solution might be had. With that, I would like to ask if anyone here has had to contain a god before, or part of one, and how it was done. I am, of course, not asking for anything to be done at this moment, or for anyone to take on this task themselves. I had just thought perhaps it time to begin gathering information, to see if there are other options at hand.

Out of hospital and things seem to be mildly chaotic around here as usual. Anyone who needs me I'll be winter prepping and restocking my seed balls in the workshop.

Also I think Chime might be molting, or something? Do dragons molt? I keep finding like thin bits of glass where she's been sitting. Watch your fingers around her, I guess is my point.

Greetings all, I am sharing on behalf of myself and Wanda (though I would never venture to speak for her, obviously) as your magical representatives for the DOA. The Directrix of Geliara Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry has requested assistance in first, containing, and secondly, closing, a portal that opened on the grounds of the school. Apparently a conjuration class had a spell go...incorrectly and now there is a portal that they are unable to do anything with.

The second piece to that is that somethings may have escaped. The details on what, exactly, they are, are a bit sketchy, so this may take some time and energy. You can come to the DOA office and read for yourself what the Directrix sent over and if you are so inclined, we can then proceed to the school for closer examination of the portal.

Certainly no one is required to participate but if you do we will most likely have their eternal gratitude and a favor to be called upon later, ho hum, it is very good for relations, and I will purchase the Dashing Doors for lunch. And probably have wine if this goes very late.

This is an official communication on behalf of the Department of Outlander Affairs:

I am dismayed to report that the Amulet of Ashurbanipal, the magical item which allowed him to move between worlds and attack our library, has been stolen from the custody of Prigany Coven. The coven has submitted to outside investigation, and the Vallo police department currently believes that the members of Prigany are victims of a crime, not perpetrators of one.

The amulet is a quite large golden locket, oval-shaped and set with a iridescent green gemstone at its center. It was badly damaged in the fight with the necromancer king, but should it be repaired it will once again be a very powerful magical artifact.

The thief is as yet unknown, and attempts to magically track the location of the amulet have failed. Anyone with information that could lead to the recovery of the amulet and the apprehension of the thief should report that information to the Vallo police department.

I hope Halloween is as fun as an adult as it is as a child. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to wear my lady bug costume. However, judging by this sack of candy I found hidden under my bunk, I think I had fun regardless.

It's my first autumn in Vallo. On a scale from 1 to 10, how intense is Halloween here? Does shit get wild or what? I've noticed the uptick in pumpkin stuff and now there's search engine crap (getting ahead of this now: I will not be shamed for my fanfic prefs) but I didn't know if it got worse as the month went on or what.

So by now ah- most of you are aware we had a situation at the Library. We still don't have all of the details - I don't know if we ever will, but what we do know is this:

Ashurbanipal, King of Assyria, approached the library this morning, and challenged King Noctis in an attempt to rule Vallo? Unaware that Noctis is not the King of Vallo.

He threatened Nancy, and the Library wards went defensive, one of the skeletons was killed in the mess, and the King took that as a challenge.

The library went into lockdown mode, and there was a fight. I do believe they underestimated a whole group of librarians.

Nancy was able to knock the amulet off of the King's neck, and that was when the skeletons all disappeared? We have it now, but the amulet is damaged, and the king is gone. I put it in a protected vault for the moment but we'd feel more comfortable if one of the covens takes it, so we're going to reach out to them later for that.

We do have some casualties and people are being taken to the clinic now, but I don't think anything was fatal. Mike, Darlington took Nancy there just a few minutes ago and you may want to visit.

If anyone has any other information to share, we'd love to hear it at the library, since we'll be documenting this in its entirety.

In war, I'd prefer a dishonest man to a man who was unreliably honest. Predictability goes a long way in tactics: you can't control the players, but you could rely on what you believe them most likely to do in the situation they're in. Which is one reason why Vallo is so maddening to me: the arrivals and departures don't make sense. They aren't predictable. No amount of logic, big brain, cunning or forethought can predict what will happen in the day-to-day, which makes for lousy endings. Heartbreak. Broken relationships. But Vallo gives you just enough to keep you hopeful. Because for some, there is hope. The waiting, the not knowing - it makes everything sharper. Brighter.

Which is all to say: I was gone for four months, taken to some strange world where I worked in a bar called the Mos Eisley Cantina. Luckily, I was the prettiest one there (save Earl, Earl had these gorgeous magenta fronds you would not believe), and I learned how to fly a spaceship and things were mostly fine, save how very much I missed the lot of you. And then one day, right when I was beginning to think I might never make my way back, I came back to this place just in time to see more departures.

See? Maddening.




But I am very glad to be back.
