This seems as good a time as any to throw this out there to the Vallo masses to see what kind of interest there may be in such an event.

Slayer's Cake would like to host a big community wide picnic of sorts in early September, assuming it doesn't get cancelled due to time travel or hand monsters or killer turkeys. We'd partner with other local businesses and food trucks to provide plenty to eat. There would also be lots of activities and games for kids (young and old). Music provided by local musicians.

Because my thoughts for the event are styled after the festivals we used to have back in mine and Vax's childhood home before, I was also thinking of having a Gem of Vallo competition--basically a talent show/evening wear competition open to all walks of life. Maybe a pie eating contest? Dessert contest?

More details would come later but, before I go too far down this tunnel, would you lot be interested?

Good day, I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend thus far.

We wanted to invite you all to a party for Kir and Kiri's birthday on July 5th, which will be taking place on the ship starting around 2PM. We will provide dinner and, of course, cake and there will be a number of outdoor things to do, including a rope course and one of the bouncing castles with a slide that will go into the water, as well as less physically taxing activities. (Safety has been taken into account; there is a pit of balls for the ropes and we will have the water sectioned off at the beach, were that a concern.) It will be an afternoon and evening of summer fun as we celebrate two very wonderful children.

Feel free to come and go as your time allows and, of course, children are more than welcome, too.

Look, I know a lot of us aren't supposed to be this age normally but we are and we're here for fuck knows how long so I think we need to have some kind of get together. A party, as it were.

Thing is, I have plenty of money for things like food and drinks and shit, but I don't really have a place. I'd say at the place I've been staying, but there's an old as all hells gnome, an anxious bard that probably needs a fucking nap, a literally tiny child, and FCG and while most of them are fine, they still kind of, you know, cramp some style.

So: party tonight, I can make sure there's drink and all that, but anyone have a suggestion on the where? Don't know how long we'll all be here so might as well fucking enjoy it while we can.

So now I am simply wondering, what now? I have not had free time before. What do people do when they do not have to attend class or meet with a tutor? I am open to suggestions.

Also, can I read these books in this house? There are a great many, though some are in odd languages.

We've been home for a couple of weeks now and it feels like I'm finally settling back into my normal routines which I know my very particular child is happy about. There was a lot to process and unpack about our brief trip to that future, but the one takeaway that's stuck with me is that there's too little time to spend it stuck in the future--or the past. Which feels a bit too introspective for this early on a Friday morning, honestly, but here we are. Serving up a bit of gratitude for the present alongside fresh chocolate croissants this morning.

So here's my Friday morning question to the rest of my fellow Outlanders: Besides the obvious choice of indoor plumbing, what are you glad for here that you don't have where you came from?

What's up, assholes. Using these things so you folks in the past are up to speed on where the fuck we're at with all this stuff. I'm not apologizing for my handwriting.

So the info that our time traveling wizard duo was able to pull from 2023 (with the help of you fine nerds back there too, thank you for that) was actually good shit, because as of a bit ago we were able to use it to figure out where the weapon is at that we can use to take down Interitus once you folks in the past destroy the simulacrum. It's in the city, because of fucking course it is, hidden away.

Naturally this means we have to put a group together to extract it. We've got our secret hidey hole way into the city to get in, but we're going to need a mix of Sneaky Shits and Fighty Fucks to do it, so ivolunteerastribute.gif and all that shit below, visitors and our regular crew alike. As always, this isn't a guaranteed safety sort of situation, but we'll need to get a lay of the land ahead of time to at least mitigate. They're a bunch of dicks, though, so no doubt something will come up so know that before you step up.

More details incoming once we have a better idea as to the group we're looking at and once we've got it secure, that's one step closer to getting this asshole fucking gone.

Hello. It feels odd to introduce myself as many of you already know me, but I am Essek Widogast and I'm here with Caleb (also) Widogast. If my husband's perfect recall can be relied upon, which I am willing to stake most everything on it, the versions of us that you know normally should still be deep within the Aeor that was brought to Vallo, being very much themselves while surrounded by ancient Exandrian magic and technology.

Which is to say, and I'm doing a poor job of getting to the point, we are from a different timeline and time. A few hours ago, we were in 2033 within a branch of the future that is hopefully not your own. The Temporal Concurrence and the aligning of the leylines does, it seem, allow for some otherwise so-called impossible magic when one(s) puts many months of work into entirely too many sleepless nights their wizard mind(s) to it.

I cannot promise to keep a long story short as there are many moving parts and I tend to be accidentally verbose in the best of times, but I think many of you may remember the attack from Interitus that happened in August of 2021. He was not as gone as we had all hoped and is now wreaking havoc upon my and Caleb's timeline. Thanks to the concurrence and the influx of magic, our intel is advising that he is planning on ascending beyond his current form into something akin to godhood. Should he do so, his powers will be made more or less limitless and there will be no stopping him from traveling freely within timelines to destroy every version of Vallo, as has been his will all along. Our version has just been practice for him.

As for why we have broken through literal time and space to visit the past, we are seeking aid. This has already been discussed with the DOA, but there are a few things that we are here for specifically.

First, Interitus is using a simulacrum of sorts as a power focus, which has allowed him to bide his time in our world and eventually build up enough power in secret to take over. We believe that this simulacrum had already arrived in March of 2023--in February, specifically. We do not know where, but our hope is that you fine people will be able to locate and destroy it, specifically at the height of the concurrence to not give away our plans.

Second, Caleb and I are in search of a very specific tome from the Great Library. We unfortunately do not have access to the Library in our time as you do now, but we believe that the tome we are looking for has information regarding locating the object needed to pierce through Interitus's magical defenses. If any librarian friends are willing to volunteer to help with that, as we do need this before we return to our time tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, and I realize that this is the largest ask of them all, a vision from one of the Prigany psychics has shown us that there are specific people in the future that aid in the efforts. Our understanding is that these people come to us from your timeline and travel to our own. We have a list of those people, who I will be filtering separately with more information. Please know there is no expectation. We are not here to force anyone to help, regardless of psychic visions.

This is long and a great deal of information for a Monday, I understand. Caleb and I are here to answer any questions that we can--at least those questions that do not pose more harm to the timelines than our being here already might.

Today I learned that my three-year-old is not a fan of finger painting because she can't stand having paint on her hands. Which, fair. It's amazing, really, learning something new about her every day. I'm sure it's like this back home where I remember everything about her life, too, but it hits so much harder here where I've only had a handful of months of knowing her.

I've thought about it a lot since Vesper stayed behind, and I just think it's the right thing to do. I'm all she has, and Vallo is always throwing new shit at us. I just want to make sure she's always taken care of, you know?

Now that everyone has been notified if they were a lucky bidder, just wanted to say a hearty thank you to everyone that made it out to the charity event for the youth center. We raised a hefty amount and it's all going to go to really great projects this year to help out the kids. It makes me real glad to know I'm part of a community like ours.

Also, no resolutions because I'm turning 30 in a month and that's about all I can focus on.

Since officially opening the Slayer's Cake for business, most of my mornings have been early ones. I've enjoyed it but, as with most routines, it was becoming more like actions I just went through because I knew I needed to. But this morning, my three-year-old sat with me while I rolled out dough, helped me pick out the tastiest berries, and made sure I got just enough flour in my hair so that everyone would know I’d been baking all morning. And then I got to pick out an assortment of pastries that I felt confident would elicit a look of excitement on the faces of my three older children when they rolled out of bed eventually.

It’s mornings like these that make me incredibly grateful for each day that has come before it. This is what joy feels like, I’m sure of it.

And because I’m feeling so generous this morning, each of you that’s currently displaced in time can come by the Slayer’s Cake for a free pastry. Each of them were made with even more love than usual today.
