There's a lovely apple tree up on the rooftop gardens at the apartments! I'm up there just about every other day, so I know it's new--and it's fully grown! Of course, someone could have planted a sapling and used magic to grow it so quickly, in which case I'm very jealous because there are quite a few flowers I'd like to speed up so I can see them in bloom. But the waiting is nice as well, and I like a surprise every now and then.

It's quite a sweet tree and such a bright addition! I may prune it back a bit so it has a better chance in spring, but if it's helped with magic, I suppose that may not be much of an issue.

And if you're walking the Skyhold gardens, please be careful! I think I have all of the plants cataloged with what they are, but there are still a few I'm not certain of, and certainly a few that don't enjoy being touched at all and will respond rather harshly.

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the Haus for New Year's Eve! ♥ It was an absolute joy to bring in the new year at Vallo with y'all! I hope those of you who had the tub juice have somewhat recovered, and there is a lot of unclaimed clothing, jewelry, and wallets at our place still! If you lost something, feel free to come by when you can to pick it up! I'll give you a slice of pie in a to-go container! :)

Speaking of pie, y'all know it's the beginning of the month, which means a new menu at the Apothecary! January can sometimes be a little sad, post-holiday blues. But I promise these pies will warm you right up! 🤗

[GILBERT]
Anne Shirley-Cuthbert you are a strong independent woman who can handle rejection and there's no reason to be worried about this at all, it's just your heart on the line, nothing serious here. We've techically gone together to two events but

Hi. Hello. Um. I know we're already spending a great deal of the holidays together, but I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to one of the New Year's Eve parties? As a date. It doesn't have to be a I've seen a few advertised and they seem like such a fabulous, celebratory time, one to herald in a new year and accept the blessings of a fresh beginning! Not that we need a fresh beginning. We just need us, all of us.

... This got away from me, as most things do. But I look forward to hearing your response, Mr. Blythe.

[LADIES + BASH]
I miss Cole in times like this a dreadful amount but we make the best of it! I possibly have a date for New Year's Eve and even if he says no, I'm going by myself because I can do that sort of thing. But I could use help ummm. getting ready?

I know there's not a great deal to work with here, but I would be eternally grateful for any advice or help any of you might have to offer. What sort of attire is generally accepted at these parties? What should I do with my dreadful hair? Should I accept the freeing embrace of a woman on her own and lop it off?

... I don't know that I can bring myself to go that far just yet but please help? I know it's vain of me but I'd like to look pretty?

Um Hi, I'm Adora. New here.

Question: Do people from the same place sometimes show up here not remembering the same things? I mean, is that "normal"?

Here's a question for the masses: what is the strangest, yet most mundane thing that has changed for you here?

Mine has to be both wearing clothes that weren't made for adventuring and not lacing up a corset every day. I can't say the alternatives to the latter here are much more comfortable, though.

Hello Vallo! Who needs saving? I ask because I was summoned here, and that's usually the way of things where I'm from! I've wandered about for the last few days looking for the giant monster, or perhaps the lovelorn prince in a dungeon, or maybe even a band of feisty outlaws on the wrong side of the law, but I'm afraid all I've found was delicious pie and a very nice soap (and Regina! Hello, Lady Regina! We're friends now, we came in on the same day, together!).

Anywho. I am Solaire of Astora. Until I find the one who summoned me, I've applied to join the DoA! It's quite like my old covenant, the Warriors of Sunlight, except no one's hollow and everyone is kind of shockingly attractive? It's going to be a real distraction in a fight. As for fighting - I LOVE FIGHTING. I'm particularly fond of sword and shield, and of course I have a few knickknacks which help give me a boost when I need one. OH and don't worry - I'm not hollow any more, so there's absolutely NO CHANCE that I'd ever turn on you and kill you and eat you, not even if we were lost together in the wilderness and there was no game to hunt, probably. So that's good news!

Should I write about myself? Hmm. My favorite color is green, I've died about 3,456 times (I think, a few of them I was unconscious for, so I never know whether they count or not??) and I always have a bit of purple moss on me in case anyone gets poisoned. I like long walks on the hydra-infested beach, lonely dates on top of dim castle towers, and absolutely destroying evil wherever it's found. And peppermint! Peppermint is grand.

But most of all? Oh, how I love your sun. It's lovely. I could stare at it for hours, but I won't, because someone caught me doing that earlier and said I'd go blind, so. I'll just think about it a lot I suppose.

[ ooc author's note - he's not affected by the emotions plot; this is just how... solaire is ]

It was suggested at the coffee shop this morning that I try an eggnog chai tea latte and I must say it did not disappoint. I've had eggnog before but not used as part of another drink.

anne.
I've been asked to Bitty and Jack's wedding on the 5th and can bring someone, would you like to go with me?

That fellow back there called me Mister Lacroix and said thank you sir and didn't even give me the bad eye. Let me tell you, that's an experience I'll never mind repeating! It's possible baby Delphine is having her effect on people already. Nothing else about this makes any sense so at least I can count on that.

I don't really know that I believe anyone can see this but if ya can, mind being so kind as to point me in the direction of a Mister Gilbert Blythe and Miss Anne Shirley-Cuthbert? I'd be grateful.

There are some really beautifully colored leaves on the ground! I've noticed some people are bagging them up? Which is fine, of course, but actually, the leaves are really good for plants! If they're shredded and left on the ground, worms will come and eat them, and a healthy garden has plenty of worms! Or you can use them to keep perennial bulbs and root vegetables warm during the winter. I liked to have a pile, and then in the spring when the leaves had decomposed, I would use them as food for the soil. A happy ground is a happy garden!

Which is a very silly statement and I can't really believe I've said that.

This device truly is fascinating, though part of me wonders if it can record what I speak and what I also type can it do the same to what I'm simply thinking?

More importantly, can someone explain the new rules of fashion to me? The Google I was directed to is a wealth of information but I think it might be better to get a quick lesson first.

Right. A holiday centered around bones and death. Why not. And we wonder why the Overlook showed to fuck with us.

Do we suggest holidays to celebrate to some administrative Vallo person with a pen and a never-ending ream of paper? Because I'd like to suggest we celebrate Thorghenz. It's a holiday from a cheerless people in my world but do you know what it provides that isn't bones and death? Clams. A bountiful harvest from Our Lady of the Sea, whatshername, but more importantly clams any way you could ever want them. I suppose there's dancing too. Shockingly few bones, occasionally death but honestly what holiday doesn't deal in a little grave dirt from time to time, especially when families unite to celebrate it? Consider it, Vallo. Raise your standards. We might've had it all (clams).

In other news, I miss a barter economy. This actually being expected to pay for things - with money - when you buy them? Mmm. It's a choice.

Finally, subject three: is there some sort of organization (preferably a club which drinks) that deals with how not to be a morally bankrupt fucknut? Asking for a friend.

Oh what a feast for the eyes! This world is just FILLED with glorious things and such kind and caring people. Thank you, to those that escorted me from that lovely forest and thank you to those that taught me how to use this and were EVER so patient with my many many questions. Is it true it can connect to everyone, as instantly as talking to one's face? There is no need for glorious paper and spilled ink?

I am terribly rude and Marilla would have my head for it, I am so, so, sincerely sorry, please accept my humble apologies from the bottom of my heart for not making proper introductions right off the bat. I'm Anne, I was supposed to be starting at Queen's University soon but surely it's more important to explore than it is to worry about my education at a time like this. Adventure IS education and a glorious, much-needed distraction! I can't very well get in trouble when there is no way home, now can I?

Just how "dangerous" is this forest? I have quite the mind for direction and exploration and would like to go for a walk, but have no wish for people to need to rescue me if there are monsters and creatures lurking. What did you all do first when you arrived?

Enthusiastically,
Anne Shirley-Cuthbert
