Not to be That Nerd, but I am officially starting the Back To School Countdown. I like the sounds of most of my classes and am being cautiously optimistic on the professors based on what I've heard, so fingers crossed to a new year.

I know this is probably not the popular opinion, but please tell me there are others that are excited for September 5 and not just me.

Hey so, friendly (if you want the not-friendly version you have to pay extra) reminder that there's a Death Club (clever, right?) at the DOA building every other Wednesday evening. Dead? Dying? Previously dead? Resurrected? Dead at home? Surrounded by a ton of people who have died? Need somewhere to just... vent or talk or listen about death? Come on by.

We don't judge or make you fill out some long questionnaire to prove you're "dead enough" or whatever. It's a fairly chill group where people talk about their experiences, listen to others, offer advice and help, and a path forward to figure out how to get out of that stupid slog that comes after. Outlanders and Natives are both welcome, you'd be surprised how many Natives have been yanked back to life with the amount of necromancers running around. The survivor guilt/"why me"/"what the fuck" combo is pretty universal.

And there's free coffee and pastries.

So I'm not really unused to being green since it's sort of my normal Skrull state, I guess? But usually when I shift, I can control the color? And usually when I'm human, I'm just me?

I assume this is related to the flower weirdness everyone else has been tackling, so that's the last time I try to pick a fresh flower for you, Billy.

I suppose that it's high time I've introduced myself on this, though I'm not so sure that now's the best time. I understand that events like... this happen often here though, so perhaps it is.

I'm Tom Badgerlock. I arrived here about a week and a half ago, and have spent the last week acquainting myself with... all of this. It's all very different than where I'm from, but I think I've been getting the lay of the land.

I also suspect the money I was given on my arrival won't last too terribly long, so if anyone has any work, I would be grateful for it. I can do scribe work, though I don't suppose I'll be able to try my hand at creating inks for it without better acquainting myself with the local flora. I've done work in the past as a farmhand, and can do manual labour. Most recently I was employed as the valet and bodyguard of a particular lord, and then was recruited into the Queen's guard. I'm most proficient with an axe, though I can use a sword if necessary.

I've been doing a lot of thinking since our time jumping adventures and while there is still a lot I don't really understand and more that I have a hard time putting into words, the one thing I definitely know I need is more training. It's not really something I like to admit, but I'm not going to get better if I don't.

I know this is a breach of the "I don't know you people that well yet" contract, but I need to cosplay as a responsible adult on Friday, so pretend we're besties.

I'm having dinner Friday, somewhere relatively nice. The vibe is straddling the line between "dinner date" and "just friends doing friend things in the wake of unspeakable horrors" and I need an outfit that can pivot. Ordinarily I'd let Mercy dress me but Mercy isn't here, and I haven't had time to buy anything suitable, so. Bestie, help a girl out. Do I go with a black dress or something like top + jeans + heeled boots?

Smiley day to you all, welcome to La Niña. I know you may still be adjusting from your journeys from the Outpost to here last night, and that's quite alright. We, ah, weren't expecting guests so the accommodations might be sparse because it's been awhile since we've had anyone stay residentially--for you traveling folk, La Niña tends to be used only as a medical safehouse for cases that require extensive medical interventions and long term care. Viktor and I run it together. It is still an active medical facility, so please don't enter any designated care areas without being accompanied by one of us, for the safety and security of our patients.

So, y'know, check in just to let everyone know you got here okay, I'm going to be wheeling around parceling out supplies, getting a sense of who is where and all, and we'll try and keep you as comfy as we can.

We've found the location of the simulacrum. Between access to books, connections with the local covens, and feet on the ground we were able to narrow it down and then confirm its location on Surtr's Sword. We've shared our research with the defense teams so they can begin to coordinate retrieval so we're ready for the 6th.

Huge thank you to everyone who has been working tirelessly to track this down.

Some other things to note.
- We found magic dead zones deeper in the forest. Patches of area where magic isn't working anymore.
- There are theories that the Temporal Concurrence is what originally started to bring Outlanders to Vallo (not confirmed, just thought it was interesting).
- During the height of the Temporal Concurrence there's probably going to be some Big Magic being worked here. This may lead to nothing, it may end being a big pain in the ass, but it seems to be the day to try and pull of the more impressive spells if you couldn't do it normally.

How are you holding up in 2033?

EDIT: I forgot to tell everyone in 2033 that yesterday was the return of the Geese from a few years ago. The violent ones that kidnapped people. Everyone is okay, but there was chaos. And probably geese on the menu for the next several days.

I don't know what any other scouts are seeing, but there's significant troop movement in the northwest and at the Vallo City perimeter. Interitus is gearing up for something. Blue, I'll have a full report for you when I get back.

Can I get some volunteers to help bring over the last of the current harvest?

I'm dealing with something that I want to be up front about. I discovered I'm a Reader now. A mind reader that is. I wasn't at home but this place and its strangeness doesn't seem to care about that. I'm working on my mental shields so I don't just go stomping around inside people's heads. Our brand of reading can be especially invasive. I thought I was doing pretty good, but today was stressful at the DOA office thanks to network trouble and a broken printer and an angry local filing a complaint, so.

I slipped up. Twice. I apologized to the people whose minds I violated, but it still happened and I don't want to pretend there's no chance it'll happen again. I'm looking into farm work in case I can't lock this down fast. Please know that I have no desire to be inside anyone's mind but Tenn uninvited.

Anyway, long story short, today sucked. Kind of wish I was still in a toga learning how to shoot pool.

The Ides of March are upon us. And while I'm as stab-happy as the next person, and Caesar probably deserved it by at least one of those senators because men, we're not celebrating the death of a Roman dictator but the birthday of Henry Cheng, who would only appreciate if we did it in style.

Mandatory: wearing a toga. Not mandatory: owning your own toga because sheets will be provided if you wimp out. Location: Monmouth. Gansey pulled the pool table out and bought unnecessary Roman-style chaises. I'm not going to stop anyone from wanting to be historically accurate either, but I draw the line at not wearing undergarments. Those are required to be on for entry.
