I mentioned to Ostyia the other day when she enquired about potential games that I might set up a go at Thieves, Quur's favorite party game. After a review of the rules, I think it can be easily done with interested partners if I moderate. The game is set for 8 players, and lasts as long as people can keep their stories straight - for it is a game of lying. I'd dole out ten runes to each player, each rune corresponding with a certain character trait. Your duty, as a player, is to pick five traits to keep, and five traits to conceal at all costs. On top of these ten runes, there will be an additional piece given to each player indicating whether or not they have murdered an important political figure. Your duty is to either succeed with getting away with the murder through artful lying, or to solve the crime (and absolve yourself of the guilt, for in this game, yes, you can be sent to prison unlawfully if you're unable to properly defend yourself). There are set numbers of traits in each bag of runes; for example, there are only two ladies in waiting. If you pull one, and two other people in the game are claiming to be ladies in waiting, you know they're lying about that. It sounds more complicated than it is. I'll create a cheat sheet of each rune, their number and their meaning, and send it over to interested parties well before the game.
I'm am considering doing it New Year's Eve, barring disaster and/or stringent objection. The study in my library will be perfect for it. I'll serve drinks and food, so come hungry, and we'll start at 9:00pm promptly. Around midnight we can take a break to view fireworks, and return to the game if it hasn't been solved already. Wear what you want; there's no reason to have a dress code, but I'll warn you that I am fond of capes and am liable to wear one if it's cold, and eat me if you find that too dramatic, etc.
