There's a lovely apple tree up on the rooftop gardens at the apartments! I'm up there just about every other day, so I know it's new--and it's fully grown! Of course, someone could have planted a sapling and used magic to grow it so quickly, in which case I'm very jealous because there are quite a few flowers I'd like to speed up so I can see them in bloom. But the waiting is nice as well, and I like a surprise every now and then.

It's quite a sweet tree and such a bright addition! I may prune it back a bit so it has a better chance in spring, but if it's helped with magic, I suppose that may not be much of an issue.

And if you're walking the Skyhold gardens, please be careful! I think I have all of the plants cataloged with what they are, but there are still a few I'm not certain of, and certainly a few that don't enjoy being touched at all and will respond rather harshly.

If it isn't magic, it might need some to get through winter up there. Are they McIntosh apples by any chance? Or, well, I suppose that might not mean anything to you.

If they're green and red, then yes, they could be! I've been reading up and I think I can cover the trunk in an oil mixture that should protect it. The garden is a little too high for animals to nip at the bark, but when things thaw, you don't want one side of the trunk to thaw out before the other!

That was a lot of information about trees, I'm sorry.

They are. I'll have to make my way up there to take a look. We had an orchard of them at home. A few similar tricks to getting them through the winter in good health too, so I don't mind hearing about yours. It's nice to know someone is taking such good care of the garden.

That would be nice! I'm more knowledgeable about flowers and plants than trees--or really, any crops. I've been learning and it's so terribly interesting. Did you grow anything else?

Oh! Well, there's one that is a leafy plant, but the ends of the leaves are jagged and pointy. Dorian's said it's called Rashvine and if you touch it, you'll see why! And there's a lotus that causes hallucinations, but it has to be the right color, and these aren't in bloom yet so I'm not quite sure.

There's Rashvine for certain--I've tried to pull it out but I don't want to completely get rid of it if it's helpful in potions. I've read about Ghoul's Beard? But I haven't seen any yet, and I think it would be rather specific and obvious.

Oh yes, Ghoul's Beard I can spot on sight - it knows what it's about. Can I say that I'm terribly grateful we have someone who knows what they're doing to take care of the gardens? It'd end in misery if I tried it.

I'm very proud of you! I don't think they're meant to grow very quickly? Which is to say that you shouldn't be worried if it isn't growing at all, I'm sure you're doing just fine. Those types are meant to be very easy to care for!

No, I read a little about them and they really just bob around being-- strangely endearing? I've never had a pet, and while I realize that this is far from a typical pet, I've unfortunately already anthropomorphized it, so there's nothing to be done. It's cute.

The mushrooms as well. Which is actually fairly good practice for everyone, to ignore mushrooms. Even if you're very knowledgeable, they could go wrong quickly.

A lot of wild animals know what's right to eat and not but there are always a few special cases. Pets being walked are usually as big of a problem as people.

I have an idea! Do you want to host a survival class with me maybe?

Would you potentially like help with a few of those flowers you're patiently waiting to meet? I could help! Of course, there really is something magical in the waiting, too, so I'd understand if you'd rather be patient.

If you wanted to pick just one or two, I could make sure they're okay. Then you'd have some to see now, and some to see later when they decide to bloom!
