There are some really beautifully colored leaves on the ground! I've noticed some people are bagging them up? Which is fine, of course, but actually, the leaves are really good for plants! If they're shredded and left on the ground, worms will come and eat them, and a healthy garden has plenty of worms! Or you can use them to keep perennial bulbs and root vegetables warm during the winter. I liked to have a pile, and then in the spring when the leaves had decomposed, I would use them as food for the soil. A happy ground is a happy garden!

Which is a very silly statement and I can't really believe I've said that.

Should I start asking if anyone will give up their bags of leaves for you, Elain?

Not yet, but I might require someone to pick them up...

You only have to ask. Anything to keep your garden happy through the winter. And I know your sister would like

The one on the roof of Morningside has come a long way with your care and I would hate for it not make it through the winter.

This is starting to feel like we're not actually talking about

It will. With patience, always. But you know, some of the best things are worth waiting for.

I may take advantage of your kindness and ask for an aerial view! Since you're very worried about my garden and all.

I have been alive for a very long time. I can be patient I think

But an Archeron willingly wants to fly without me asking? Now I have reason to also be suspicious.

They're lovely. Fall is my very favorite time of the year, before we're blessed with snow and while it's mild and the colors look so amazingly cheerful and happy.

We have had to clean up some around the farm I work at, and have extras bagged up if you'd like them? I don't think they would mind! Have you heard the trick about using wood ash to retain water in your garden too?

I like it very much! But I'm very guilty of finding things to like in every season.

Oh, that would be lovely! I've heard about using ash to feed the soil, but not for retaining water! I've found that not every plant benefits though! You garden?

Oh I very much do the same thing. It is nothing to be guilty over, I think! Just something to be proud of, to have that view of the world.

My lovely guardian Matthew does, he has such a wonderful garden back home and has even won awards for his radishes!! Most unusual, but I've picked up a few things here and there, I suppose.

I've always been better at flowers or decorative plants, but I would like to become more proficient in ones that are meant to be eaten or ones used for medicine. I would welcome all tricks you have!

They're also nice to just lay in and watch the sky. There's no better color scheme for inspiring poetry. But I support your garden vibe. It's very chill.

What does that They are! You have to be a little cautious of hiding bugs, but I think it's worth it. What do you do to be inspired the rest of the year?

Bugs aren't so bad. There are grosser things to find in leaf piles. Oh but I mostly rely on people. My friends are very colorful all on their own.

I mean, there's maybe a little chirping. But usually, my poems aren't so obviously about anyone in particular. And when they are, I don't share th People are just good inspiration for getting big feelings out on paper. You sound like you find your inspiration in a garden tho. So maybe you get your big feelings out in flowers?

Chirping?

I've never really thought about it like that! I've always gardened because I think there should be more beauty in the world, even if that's just in my small corner of it. But when I give flowers to others--yes, that's right. I want their corners to be beautiful too.

It's a word for teasing? Affectionate harassment basically.

Yo, art comes in all kinds of forms. You know, wanting to connect to people or just leave a mark on the world. Have you used the garden over Morningside?
