Today I learned that my three-year-old is not a fan of finger painting because she can't stand having paint on her hands. Which, fair. It's amazing, really, learning something new about her every day. I'm sure it's like this back home where I remember everything about her life, too, but it hits so much harder here where I've only had a handful of months of knowing her.

We're going to stick to crayons for now.

I've thought about it a lot since Vesper stayed behind, and I just think it's the right thing to do. I'm all she has, and Vallo is always throwing new shit at us. I've had plenty experience bartering with Jawas and those kriffing bastards go hard. Given the amount of credit I just dropped on cookies after politely declining at first, I'd love to see them try dealing with Girl Scouts.

Now. What fuckery does this weird-ass planet have planned for us this holiday?

This world is already better about getting people the treatment and aids they need than in my world. But, there's always room for improvement. I'm working with Enki and Vallo's local general hospital to develop an advanced line of assistive technology and disability aids for people that need them, at no cost to the user.

We're still in early development, but we'd like to chat with users with specific needs that are met through assistive technology or mobility aids. We're focusing on walking aids that function both in the city and the forest, advanced hearing devices that automatically volume adjust given the noise level of the area around you, retracting hooks for reaching things higher up but minimally invasive at the same time, and adaptive touch screens that can translate text to braille and shift and change like you would just turning a page on a book or scrolling through social media.

Basically, our main goal here is accessibility and advancement. They told me to use an ice brea If you could think of any one thing that would make your life easier and it doesn't already exists or is something that could be improved, what would it be?

I was just chatting with Roz and that reminded me that I could put out a general notice. Please remember that all critical facilities (electric providers, clinics, hospitals, Morningside, the DOA building, the Quills, and even Papa's Pride) have my defensive shielding - and it's regularly maintained with the help of Murderbot!

I'm installing some remote upgrades via drone to have those shields also provide heat and deflect snow buildup for this storm, so if you find yourself needing shelter, those are the places to go! There's a few other locations I've had them installed, by owner request, so I'll let them volunteer their own places for guests. :)

I've been working my way up to a little bit of an ask. Usually I'm pretty self-sufficient so asking for help is hard enough but this one almost feels a little embarrassing as well given what I've picked up about it while being here.

Tatooine was so damn dry we had people who farmed moisture out of the air and sold it for rations. We were lucky to get one good rain a year if that. So that being said, the idea of water being free for all, regular rain falls, snow, that's all new to me and, well, I don't know how to swim. Since it doesn't look like I'll be going back anytime soon, I suppose I'd like to learn. Just feels a little strange when it's mostly youngins that are learning.

Well, if anyone is going to need some serious anxiety and sleep meds for the next several months time being, come by the clinic to pick them up. That includes both people just getting back and people who were watching/waiting. The clinic is going to have odd hours tonight.

Sitting around playing it safe is the way to not make everyone else's jobs potentially harder and I fully respect that, believe me, but I can't keep not doing things.

Are there non-punchy/stabby/blasty things for people to do to help? My apartment is open to anyone who needs a shower or a nap and doesn't live here but that's not going to help that many people? What about food? We still have power here and I know all about what it takes to feed a crowd. I don't have a crowd's worth of food in my apartment, but I'm willing to use what I do have?

Here we go again. The clinic is super well lit and the wards are still on. There's medical personnel here to help and another portal to patch you up and send you off to the big guns at the hospital if you need higher level of care.

But for anyone who is still fairly new and may not be used to this place's wtfery yet.. we have plenty of people with magical powers that would heal you a lot faster. But it's totally up to your personal comfort to accept that or use non-magical healing.

Since it's already been brought up, I'd like to remind everyone that the Clinic does often teach first aid classes multiple times throughout the year. So if you're interested in learning, you can leave a name here and I'll inform you when the next set of classes come around.

Even though ideally we would love for everyone to stay safe and never require it, Vallo likes to throw something big and bad at us on multiple occasions. But also, it's helpful to know around the household as well.

If anyone is considering also being CPR certified, let me know as well. When the worst events hit, we appreciate volunteers at the clinic, especially as Vallo giveth and also taketh away.

I'm sorry it took this long to say something but I wasn't even sure what to say considering we rarely ever talked. I just wanted to say I'm sorry. He was a great colleague and friend.

Am I the only one who didn't realize that people take identifying as a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, or Miranda seriously?

If a field medic/first responder training program was offered, would anyone be interested in taking it? Certified First Responder or Wilderness & Remote First Aid? I know we're full of people used to being in insane situations, but testing to see if there's any need or interest in this aspect.

Secondly, don't forget the Clinic is going to be running its Sex Ed course from the 15 - 17. Not taught by yours truly, but I'm taking this opportunity to remind any interested parties.

Lastly, for anyone impacted by the full moon on Wednesday, don't forget that this month there will also be Moon Day. On July 20 the sun won't rise, and the full moon will be in the sky. A fun promotional day for some, stressful as hell for others.
