In other news. I've been sitting on them but if anyone's feeling nostalgic, I woke up to a whole buncha records from home. Not all of them, but a chunk of the heavy hitters - the Sha Na Nas, the Read It and Weeps, and a chunk of Frank Spicer's back catalog. I even got me a old Louise Brighton B-side. Now, I know none of that sounds familiar to any of y'all uncultured swine, save maybe background music to your trauma, but me? I got me a complicated relationship with Blackreef's soundtrack. So I've been ~enjoying~ myself, been fucking around with my record player, making improvements, making it purr. It needed a new cartridge which was fun to find here in Vallo. Had me a nice little Sunday looking through the junk markets. No one shot me. If this is retirement, call me an old-ass geezer 'cause I fucking love it.

Still at Sofia's. Been waiting to get bored. Hasn't happened yet. Eldritch garlic knots have got themselves a way of preying on the mind.

I seek to fill two full-time paid positions at The Art of Expression:

Assistant Director for Youth Programs: This position oversees all activities designed for those under 18 years old, including Youth Art Camps, children's art classes, and the Artistic Apprentice program. We also aim to expand our programming for children in the coming year, so the ideal candidate will have a creative soul and an enterprising spirit in addition to experience in managing multiple activities simultaneously. Knowledge and skills of the artistic, educational, and organizational varieties are appreciated. The Assistant Director for Youth Programs reports to the Director and supervises a variety of part-time staff.

Assistant to the Director: This position is largely administrative, requiring excellent organizational skills and occasional diplomacy to assist the Director in prioritizing and managing their frequently daunting workload. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with technology, as the Acting Director is not, and be proficient in keeping notes and taking messages. An interest in art of some kind will be helpful, but is not necessarily required.


The Art of Expression is also in need of:
- Part-time instructors in specific art forms. As the center grows and becomes more involved in the community, so too does demand for opportunities to learn. Instructors in musical instruments and sculpture are particularly sought, but I would like to generally expand our list of artists who might be willing to share their craft with children or adults.

- Established artists willing to participate in the Artistic Apprentice program for teenagers. This usually requires a minimum of 1-3 hours per week of working one-on-one with a young person (age 14 to 18) with a serious interest in your art form. This is by nature a small and very focused program, working with young people who have base skills and want to refine them and explore the possibilities of professional artistry in the future.

The Defense Department has been asked to take a on side task by the Magic Department, and you're all being contacted because your skill set is what's needed.

Please note this is a confidential assignment, it's not to be disucssed with anyone outside this group at this time. Jacob, I know you're reserves, but I have to at least put in a request for that Frye Twin magic.

Anytime spent on this assignment that may interrupt your regular patrol schedule will be handled for you.

It occured to me that I hadn't introduced myself on the network yet despite being here a month or so. That was by design - I'd dismissed it as your typical social media time-sink - and while that opinion hasn't changed, I do enjoy a time-sink when it's interesting. And Vallo keeps proving to be interesting, in diversity if nothing else.

And so - Callum Nova. I doubt there's anyone skulking about from my world, but if there is, 'Nova' is familiar because of Nova Industries, the media conglomerate. Illusions are my family's trade; a love of bright, glittering, beautiful, ephemeral veneer - it's common everywhere. Why wouldn't it be? As of late I'd been in an - internship, we'll go with internship - with aspirations of being hired but honestly, fuck the library; fuck all libraries, even yours, especially yours, because why not? If it's not attached to the library I knew, it likely will be in time, because if there's one thing that the Alexandrian Society is good at it's seeping into new cracks like a mold. They'll not be keen on my talking about it (how dare I speak the name of the Society at all!) but they're a dull lot with their furtive little plots, and what will they do in retaliation? Conspire to kill me more? I hope they try; Vallo's entertaining enough at present but I simply can't cope in a world that's so well-intentioned.

At any rate: Demonikea. They use this muddy, hideous typeface that I won't attempt here. They sell furniture. I am, occasionally, there, and even more occasionally I'm working there. If you're amusing I'll give you my discount. Don't sign the receipts they hand you. I don't know what they'll do with your signature but rest assured it's nothing good.

The Outlander Coven is meeting tomorrow at the Armory, a reminder that these meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending. We will be gearing up for the Summer Solstice later this month. We'll be working on meditation and focus, using the sun to power spells, and touching on some fire magic and its uses.

We're also going to be touching on an event that will be hosted by the Outlander Coven in July. You do not have to be a member of the Outlander Coven to participate, and you don't have to participate if you're a member. In order to build connections to covens and to the locals as a whole, we're going to be hosting an event that teaches Vallo more about the capabilities and gifts from each of our world that you are comfortable with sharing. Whatever kind of magic, craft, etc. you specialize in is welcome. A detailed schedule will become available as I figure out how many people are interested in being involved, and what they would be interested in doing.
