For anyone who may be in the mood for a beach bonfire - Rogue and I are getting married on the 16th of this month. A simple courthouse ceremony is planned, but on the 18th we're also planning to host a bonfire on Genosha. A celebration, and everyone is invited to attend. If you've never been to Genosha before, it might be a good opportunity - it's an island just off the coast of the main Vallo island, and the weather is always balmy and pleasant. There are many fruit trees as well. So if you choose to attend, come hungry - we will have plenty of food.

We plan to arrange for boat transport, to and from Vallo's port town, but if anyone would like to provide another way or knows of another way - I am quite open to working something out. Contact me if interested in the job.

I'm tired of feeling absolutely useless when it comes to being a fight and also ending up in situations where I can't even defend myself and need to do dependent on someone else to help me (that being said, Erik, I'm still grateful that you found me).

I'm also really tired of sitting here with yet another cast on my arm, so I will make a classical Ravkan (known as Russian in other worlds) dinner for someone who wants to come over and heal my arm completely.

Also should probably start looking into defensive classes.

Based on everybody's leaked search histories, I'm getting the idea that Vallo needs a better dating app. I've got the skills to build one. What features would you want to see?

Premise: A dating app for all species, all genders, and all sexualities. Ability to match, flirt, or message built-in. Flexible profile system allowing users to include whatever information about themselves or about what they're looking for that users find relevant. Clean, simple interface; profiles are conversation starters, not novels. Can be used equally well to find hookups or long-term relationship possibilities.

Some ideas I'm already working on:
- Some kind of unsolicited-dick-pic prevention. (Murderbot - do you think you could help with the design of a dick-recognition system sophisticated enough to make sure nobody sees a dick they don't want to see, but will also allow requested dicks and not instantly punish people for sending pictures of eggplants and cucumbers?)
- Search system allowing users to filter-in or filter-out profiles based on keywords and features of profiles. (Example: user Jessica Rabbit filters in all profiles with asexual identities, does not apply a filter to gender alone, and filters out all profiles that are identified as BOTH human AND male.) (With the flexible profile system, this can only get but so specific - if user Morgan wants to filter out everybody who hates baseball or filter in only people who enjoy European dance pop, Morgan's gonna have to handle that himself by talking to people.)

I could also use some brainstorming help coming up with a name. Currently scrawled on the whiteboard in my kitchen are:

I am SO sorry. I just looked up and noticed it was 2/15 and I've been-- well, I haven't left my room at the Quills for anything short of Morgan's party because I have had the greatest collection of ideas. I was talking with Bucky Barnes about a grenade launcher arm, see, and then I was thinking about all of the other things I could do. Machine gun legs? Embedded blades? Laser emitters? Rockets? Flamethrowers? So I've been in here sketching and building blueprints and I think I've come up with a few ideas.

Then I did some research online and discovered a culture called Cyberpunk and they have so much on sci-fi prosthetics that I want to see if I can make a lot of it reality. BUT that means I missed uh, any dates you guys planned. Did I miss messages? Did I accidentally stand someone up? I'm sorry! Please tell them I'm sorry!

Traditionally, Chinese New Year is a two-week affair complete with honoring the gods and the ancestors, meant to ensure prosperity and good luck in the coming year. My father's family is from Sichuan (western/southern/southwestern China), but I grew up in California, so I've acquired traditions from all over the place. The most important tradition in pretty much every Lunar New Year celebration, though, is the Reunion Dinner held on New Year's Eve. You invite the whole family, you make enough food to feed a small country, you give lucky red envelopes with money inside (even if it's a tiny amount of money, it's just a thing you do) to the younger people, and then you set off fireworks at midnight to welcome the new year. I went to a reunion dinner in every year of my human life, and since I just got my cooking gear back, I want to have one here.

If you're on this invitation, you're part of my extended Vallo family, either by virtue of living through Dark Vallo with me or being attached to someone who did, or by being a new favorite person from Nice Vallo. If I were my grandmother making this invitation, I would be deeply offended if you refused and would tell every other old lady in China about the terrible heartbreak of ungrateful children with no sense of filial piety. As I am not my grandmother and I can't contact every old lady in China from here, you're free to say no without fear of reprisal.

If you want to come, here's how it goes:

• Show up at the apartment on the morning of Feb 12 if you want to help make food. I'm willing to teach things like dumpling folding and spring roll wrapping if you don't already know how.
