If you were unaware, next week starts the several-day Taste of Vallo Food Festival. Galdin Quay as a spa and resort will be open but the larger kitchen will be closed during that time. Instead, you'll find us installed in Vallo City proper with a more accessible menu that's good for on the go.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of your lovely faces light up after I shove food your way. And I'm told to remind everyone to "tag their pictures with #spectaculareats" (thank you, your Majesty). If anyone has something more clever in terms of a hashtag for Galdin Quay, I am open to suggestions.

Nick, the full moon falls on the second day of the festival, but I'll be making every dish available during that time leading up to it, so you won't miss out on the food end of things.

Please consider this my formal apology ahead of everything about the person I become during the recipe experimentation period. The kitchen will be in chaotic disarray and should anything go awry, we will be eating ramen that night. You're welcome, Gladiolus.

Save for the threat of bodily harm my bargaining and negotiation skills have never been the greatest. I have to go to the Night Market, I've only been there once before and it was an experience. Some people were bargaining with jewels and someone had a pair of cartoon socks. I'll never take tapping my card for granted again.

You're still here, right? I know you are, but maybe we could move up the time line of meeting up to go to the market today?

Sometimes it might seem like Vallo has its perks especially for those who didn't have a great life back in their world but then it does something like this, continually reminding us of loss and how fragile relationships can be in this world. I can only hope that if any of them return, their memories of this place do too. Or their lives are better where they went to.

I know between those returns, we've also had a few new people show up in between too who are just starting to realize the ups and downs of this place so I want to go ahead and introduce myself and what I do here. I'm Sam Wilson. I go by Captain America too now that the shield and new suit have shown up in this place. I often do patrolling with the defense team here but I am also specialized in grief counseling. I used to run a veterans support group in my world for those of us who have suffered loss of any kind while enlisted. It's a little difficult to do group sessions here because of different experiences and plans easily going sideways when Vallo strikes, but I've been doing some one on one sessions whenever anybody needs it.

So, that being said if anyone feels they need to talk to a grief counselor, a total stranger free of any kind of judgement of what you have gone through, reach out to me and we can plan a schedule for meetups. It doesn't have to be in person. It can always be through the phone or via texts. I'm good with all forms of communication.

My rifle is here.  I had really missed it.  So I appreciate that.  But some of my stuff has been moved around.  For example, my pots and pans and dishes were moved to my dresser, and my clothes were moved to the kitchen cabinets.

Is that normal when stuff shows up from home?

Seeing people get weapons from home and getting a message that I had something show up made me go "nice, maybe I got more of my supply too". No, it turns out to be a house chock full of memories and emotional trauma.
