I'm still trying to get used to the fact that America is so obsessed with celebrities. I went to LA over the weekend and my goodness! There were those weird buses that tour the city looking for celebs and people selling maps to their houses. I even saw a bunch of paparazzi camping out at a restaurant waiting for a star to emerge. Is this really how this place works? It's kind of insane and it makes me feel so much better about being a simple nobody. I don't think I would want that kind of publicity.

It's things like, this, that infuriate me.

People are allowed to do whatever they want to their houses. I think it is adorable and I give them props for wanting to be different. I understand wanting to keep the place looking historical, but it's just whimsy. The curmudgeon-y old man in the video just need to go away and suck it up. Stop sticking your nose into other people's business.

Sirius and I returned on Sunday, which probably wasn't the best idea since I had to teach yesterday, but somehow I made it through yesterday without falling asleep at my desk. It's one thing to fall asleep when you're a student, but when you're the teacher, it's even worse.

Suffice to say, we had a very enjoyable vacation and England is even better in person than in the dreams. We will definitely have to go back again at some point.

Laura and I are looking into getting a new place and passing our current place on to Jubilee's cousin since this place is completely paid for and it only makes sense. Thing is, neither me or Laura have ever done the house/condo/apartment buying thing before. Anyone have any tips or advice?

Does anyone have any plans for next weekend? I apparently need to make friends and do things. Because I don't have any. According to my mother and brother, anyway. I'm 45 and they rule my life. It's not fair.

I think I might have selected the location for my future restaurant. I just need to go to the bank and get a loan. Fingers crossed. Then Orange County can have some decent Italian food that isn't the bullshit Olive Garden.
