It's good to be in a new city. 2014 is as good a year as any to start afresh, if chance will allow it.

I'm being rude. My name is Roose Bolton and I'm a lawyer. Don't let my being a lawyer fool you, though, I'm not so bad once you get to know me.

Required: Suggestions for audiobooks with compelling readers. Seriously. I need a mofo to do some silly voices. Or just a good book, I guess.

I lost my first case today. Not my first loss ever, but my first loss since coming to America. Now, due to my failure, a boy is going to prison. 18 years, up for parole in 10. And a permanent black mark on my own, personal record. I dislike losing. I dislike it greatly.

Not as much as that boy will dislike prison life, but then he ought to have listened to my counsel more closely, especially when it comes to the stand. People rarely listen as well as they should. People are arrogant.

I've had horrible dreams recently. Dreams of myself as a boy, but in a setting that summoned both strangeness and nostalgia. Odd indeed. I was a child, and then a young man in charge of a place called the Dreadfort.

The Dreadfort....that's somewhat ominous, isn't it?

I'm not sure why, but I've been feeling very down lately. I'm sleeping nearly all the time and when I'm awake I wish I were asleep. It's possible it's hormone stuff because one second I'm crying then the next I'm yelling. Being a woman is so hard sometimes!

I'm getting very tired of the police. Detectives who think they're stepped off the set of The Bill. They try to pressure me, push me, even lightly threaten me....and it never works.

Being a lawyer means I put my own feelings or prejudices to bed: it doesn't matter if they're a serial killer or a little girl, they will get the same treatment....depending on what they'll respond to. With children, you either have to coddle them or get aggressive. They're not overly complicated. Of course, criminals themselves are rarely complicated.

For all the detectives, police officers and fat sweaty security guards out there: please, try and be professional.

As much as I detest the lawyer-as-vulture stereotype, certain colleagues make it hard to dispel. Still, I consider myself a facilitator of the law rather than a salesman. Who doesn't like Atticus Finch?

Do any among you hold a negative view toward my ilk? Or is there an occupation you find yourself predisposed to mistrusting?

There are days and there are days, I swear. I just have to keep sayin' to m'self: I will not yell at the little boy in room three. I will not yell at the little boy in room three.

I have a job waiting tables. It's not exactly what I wanted, but apparently being in the army means you have no real world experience. I'm not really surprised that so many people go back voluntarily after they come home.

Trying to fit in is a nightmare.

It's probably about time I introduced myself on this thing! I'm not really computer savvy or anything, but I think I have the hang of the network. My name is Faelivrin and I just moved back to Orange County after visiting my family in France. I'm 29 years old and a widow as well. Is that too personal? Oh well. I don't know how these things are supposed to go.

It's good to be back home. I've been away for a little too long.
