I'm tired of being a responsible adult. Running the shop for ten hours a day is rough. I'm really pleased the breed I cultivated is selling well, but I'd probably do anything for more than one day a week off.

I don't think I have the self-discipline to be self-employed. I'm tempted to go easy on myself.

The pope's retiring? That's kind of hilarious.

You Yanks have Mardi Gras. We Brits have Pancake Tuesday. Now ask yourselves: which would you rather be celebrating?

If the answer is Pancake Tuesday then - not only are you correct - you should stop by the estate. In the spirit of the celebration I'm making heaps of proper pancakes sun up to sundown. They'll be up for grabs in the cul-de-sac, plenty of lemons and sugar to go round! And if you yanks are confused yet, allow me to clarify: these are pancakes, not to be confused with flapjacks, crepes or whatever this rubbish is.

Oh, and Alice, love, if you have time today, I've set aside a mound of cakes for that shelter you volunteer at. Mind dropping them round?

Has anyone watched this yet? Because it's fantastic. I mean if you like that whole Skyrim thing. Or if you're a fan of game parodies.

Oh and I just saw there's a Cops version too. Guess I know what I'm doing with the rest of my day.

This may be one of the more arcane questions asked here in some time, but I have to inquire. Has anyone here ever adopted a child? If so, what does it mean when they say your case needs "review"?

I'd panic, but they did grant me permission to foster Grace until the ruling comes down. So she gets to stay with me until they make a decision, which will either be wonderful or the second most heart-wrenching thing I've ever experienced.

It just occurred to me that I'll likely be spending Mardi Gras either at work, or with men who have no interest whatsoever in being flashed.

Sigh.

Hey, someone else here mentioned the pope so I don't have to be the first and, I don't know, offend people here or anything that way when I say good riddance and that I laughed at first when I heard the news, but then that sense of relief, extreme fucking relief took over. It would probably be considered sacrilegious to drop by and light a candle and fall to my knees in front of an altar thanking God for what just happened, but I'm thinking I'll probably do it after class.

It's probably too soon to hope that the church manages to actually become a part of the real world through losing one pontiff , but I can hope and pray that they get someone normal, someone sane, and someone willing to look out for all of us and not just the chosen ones in this time anyway.

I mean, I finally got over the conditioning that I could have God and salvation, or I could have my life on the terms I want to live it in when I tried, really tried, coming back last month and got an answer when it turned out, yeah, God meant for the things that make me happy to be part of my life, but that didn't mean I'm exactly welcome at most parishes or masses either.


Maybe the pope stepping down is one of those hints that the people running all these things might finally take notice, that that chance is finally here, and things are opening up again. I finally got okay with both parts of who I am at last, and maybe, this time, the humans who run things can actually do the same. I mean, there might be some kid like me who doesn't have to deal with what I did as a teenager in the future.

I know, it's a long shot, it's still the Catholic Church and everything, but I don't know, it makes me hope that better things are coming.

No more Mardi Gras threesomes for me, I'm engaged and responsible now. It's a weird feeling, but I like it.

Do you have those blood samples? I'd like to see them, and potentially run my own tests in comparison.

Now that just makes no fucking sense at all. Just woke up from a dream where I was in World War I. There's no way that can be related to my other dreams. I mean, how could it possibly be related? The dreams in Bristol took place in the present, or not so distant past, and World War I was a really fucking long time ago. That had to have been a regular dream then. Nothing more.

I feel like I should go out and get pissed. Yes, I think I'm going to do that.
