Well today's weather sucked. I had been planning on going surfing this afternoon, but I wound up sleeping in cause it was so dark and then, obviously, it was too dark. Something tells me this isn't just global warming or whatever.

Drink it up, people. There have been weirder things. When a freak storm always hit my parents broke out the vodka, so I'll be upholding that tradition. Happy Sunday. And don't do anything stupid in the next couple days, sheesh.

So I decided to put up some money and take an honest to god surfing lesson so the next time I'm out on the water I don't accidentally drown myself. Lesson was supposed to be this morning. However, no sooner do we get in wetsuits and out to the beach when dark as shit clouds roll in like a typhoon's headed our way. The instructor decided to err on the side of caution and cancelled class.

What gives? There was no forecast for storms today, was there? I mean, this is sunny California. What the fuck happened to the sun?!

What do you do when you're starving, have eaten literally everything in your apartment, and you're still fucking hungry?

Managed to survive the 4th alright. Since this is the first time in a long time I've been a civilian during the 4th, I wasn't really all that sure how I'd do with fireworks, firecrackers and the errant handgun going off in celebration. Nor was I sure how well I'd do in large crowds of unpredictable people I didn't know.

I am pleased to report that even though the louder fireworks made me jump, there was nothing really triggering about them, which I'm happy about. I loved this holiday as a kid; the parades, the cook-outs and barbecues, the fireworks, everything about it is what makes summer summer for me. Knowing that I can still enjoy fireworks is something of a relief.

Still not sure about the crowds though. I entertained the idea of going out and watching a parade, but couldn't quite get up the nerve. Too many people packed too close together, I guess. I'm going to work on getting over that, because I would like to see a parade, dammit. Its just going to take more practice, more forced going outside to places people gather like....I don't know...shopping malls, I guess? People gather there, right?

I am a little relieved that I wasn't the only one around here a little uneasy about the 4th and all that comes with it. For those who had a good time, I'm glad. For those who chose to avoid it like I did, I hope you came out safe in the end.

In my dreams not only do I help this loser guy bang every hot chick in his town (who all know each other), but I also help him score with an alien, my boss who is Venus - yes, that Venus - and me.

Ok, gotta stay on top of this social networking stuff. Gotta stay up to date.

Not really a whole lot to report on my end. Kind holed up in my apartment over the weekend processing what Gale told me the other day and what the hell I'm going to do about it. At this point I think the only thing I can do is be ready when or if shit really does go down. I can't really do anything about it until then, right?

I hate waiting for the shoe to drop.

Ok, social media, my doctor said I needed to "get out more" and "meet people", so I'm going to give you a try. I mean, this is considered meeting people, right? Shit, it has the word "social" right in the name.

So, ye-ah. My names David, though no one has called me that since high school and I'll thank you now to not call me David if you can help it. Washington works...or Wash if you want, that's fine too.

Up until recently I was a marine. Not that you ever stop being a marine. But it is sort of funny how a medical discharge can suddenly change everything.

God, I'm terrible at this.

Anyway, yeah, just moved to the area and am adjusting to civilian life. Its not been...as easy...as I would have thought. It hasn't been bad, really, just-
