Taking a breather. Found a nice high spot, lots of visibility. Turns out the AP rounds in my rifle are pretty damn effective against most of these things. Got a nice view of our big friend, too, could probably guide in some strikes.

Has anyone here ever had a four shot espresso? Had my first one today. Absolutely brilliant! Not sure the point of it really, although I do have an interesting tingling sensation in my fingertips.

Also I have respackled my wall, which i had no idea that I knew how to do. So there's that. Also, dusted my classroom today. A bit pointless I guess, there's a janitor doing all of that already of course.

I could really use a warzone lemonade stand.

One of these days I'm going to take a look at something horrific going on in the world that I really have no business messing with and I'll say, 'hmmm, there's a situation that doesn't need my help.'

Today is not that day. I suppose it's good for me to get out and take in some fresh air, anyway. Moping ultimately doesn't solve anything.

Shit has officially hit the fan. Shepard and I were attacked by new kinds of husks, apparently the kinds you get when aliens get turned. So priority number one is for none of us to do that, because God only knows what kind of thing we'd make if we got taken.

She said they either want someone really dead, or they're looking for something. My vote is that we start where Shepard and I first encountered them and work outward. Probably we could hook up with her people and cover more ground, but we need to be able to work autonomously as well.

From what I saw both the new types of things are dangerous as fuck. The thin ones with the spikes on their heads have this horrible scream, and when they die they explode outward. The big ones are enormous, really strong, and fast as fuck. Both of these have shields of some kind around them, you can't just shoot them in the head and go on your way. We need people with ranged energy capabilities on each team if we split up.

We need to find where they're coming from. Even more than killing the ones that have already been made, it's important we stop more from existing. We can mop up later, but stopping them from spawning should be our highest priority.

I could have lived my whole life without that dream. I mean, objectively it's not as bad as Genosha was (I hope nothing will ever be worse than that), but this was still one of the top five horrible dreams I could possibly have.

I'm not even excited to have my powers back, that dream wasn't worth it.

We're setting up a big fireworks thing out at the ranch. Making arrangements so the animals aren't too close. But it should be pretty good. Gets real dark out there.

I know everyone's probably got plans for the fourth, but some people at work are having a barbecue for my birthday. They said to invite people along, so there's room for anyone who's looking to do something.

Sometimes I feel like fighting to do my job in my dreams is a losing battle. Anyone else get that impression?

Talking about dreams seems to be the current trend on the network right now.

"I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose." Has a nice ring, doesn't it? I'm so glad that we Asgardians are dramatic in everything we say. And my dreams have certainly proven true the statement when one door closes, another opens.

With new dreams, of course, come new faces. I am not surprised to say I recognize some of them (Mr. Stark, always a pleasure).

So this week in science; well, I don't suppose it all happened this week. It's just mentioned this week, but whatever. There molecules inside of naked mole rats that make them immune to cancer... obviously a great chance for the human species to find a way to eradicate the disease.

A battery was printed on a 3D printer, it was powerful and no larger than a grain of sand.

Also, evidence of bacterial DNA in the human genome! Brilliant, or perhaps not.


Fifty years ago today, this isn't exactly science as much as it is history obviously, but still... JFK visits Berlin! Brilliant day it seems, wish I'd been there.

And in two days it will be the 100th anniversary of the second Balkan War! A war that pre-dated WWI, but yet help set it up, and therefore a war that, in all understanding, could have very minutely helped to set up the world we live in today.

So! Brilliant news! Scientists have designed a minute, but functional tractor beam. Pretty fantastic. What's more, the quadruple helix was found in human cells for the first time!

Also on this day, in 1788, the United States Constitution was ratified. Pretty big day really, for Americans at least. Really the whole world. Today it is the oldest written constitution in operation in the world. Isn't that fantastic?

Also! I just ran a two mile run, gorgeous day out today. Tomorrow I'll try for three! I love running.

It has come to my attention that my cats have adopted me as their kitten. They believe that I'm an exceptionally large and stupid young cat, who cannot kill her own food.

I'm so tempted to kill a mouse in front of them just to prove I can, which probably says some terrible things about my patience and ability to withstand peer pressure from talking animals.

So Father's Day was predictably horrific. Still not entirely sure I want to go home, to be honest.

Just had a bowl of three packages of Top Ramen! Fantastic meal, and for so cheap. Fascinating stuff really, and was a great meal while watching Antique Road Show.

That being said, it gave me a great idea! I have brilliant things, so much brilliant things I thought I'd hold a gala, or event, or something of the sort to show off the brilliant things I have collected. I have what might actually be a primitive toothbrush device from Ancient Sumeria. Granted, I'm not entirely sure that that is what it was used for, it could be something more. Still, looks very toothbrushy.

Anyway! It wouldn't be my centerpiece, of course, I have far more brilliant things for that.

I don't know when the gala is, but I have reserved time at the museum; just, I may require donations in order to fund the gala. Not sure, working on that, until then exciting!

Sorry for the delay, although, perhaps not as much a delay if you weren't necessarily expecting me, but no matter! I'm here, on this Network, a fascinating place really. Kind of like a Facebook, but better. Well everything's better than a Facebook now, isn't it? That's the 'hipster' thing to say, right?

Right, yes, anyway, back from my trek to the Yucatan, brilliant place really. Meandered all over Belize and Mexico, along with some touches into Guatemala and Honduras visiting mostly Mayan ruins. Chichen Itza is nearly as remarkable as people claim it to be, if not more so; in fact, it is definitely more so.

Came down with an odd rash though, still it's going away. Local healers there were more than happy to show me some medicines located in roots and coconuts and other fauna. Really, it was quite remarkable. In fact, the rash was a blessing! I found I should give myself a rash most places I go to learn a bit more about some local customs.

Nevermind all of that though, I am back and will be returning to work pronto. Well, mostly Monday. So not so much pronto.

So I have a surgery scheduled for the April Sixth. Never thought this day would come. And I'm so nervous.

So. I know it probably got nothin' to do with Scott and his boy and that M'am Neena, but was curious - yesterday a beat-up trenchcoat showed up lying on my chair in my apartment. I tried it on and it fits like a damn glove. I vaguely remember it - can anybody tell me if they remember me wearin' it? When I dream I ain't the focus.

Just curious if it's somethin' from the dreams or if cherie playin' a joke on me.

I'm glad I decided to go to work instead of moping around the house or hospital all the time. The kids are still pretty shaken up. This is one less weird thing for them to deal with. It's also been good for me, I'll miss the kids when the school year's over.

So much has changed for me in such a short period of time. I can only assume that more changes are imminent. It's not a bad thing, but even good changes are disruptive. With recent events, I find myself worrying about what might be coming. It feels like things have been ramping up, and I can't help but wonder what the climax of all this will be.

I can't remember at the moment if I had plans with anyone this week. I think I might have made some. I won't be able to keep those plans, I think. It's been just terrible this month, and I'm more than willing to give February a good shove out the door. I don't think I'll be around much, either, so if anyone needs anything you'll have to contact me directly. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Alright, so. It would appear daily watching of Dr. Oz is extremely helpful when working on a paper about alternative medicines. Now I know about cancer prevention! And allergies to aspirin. And Chinese medicine.

....I wonder how one would test allergies to aspirin, that seems like it could end really badly. Luckily, I'm pretty sure I'm not. Also, if anyone ever laughs at me for inspecting my tongue, I'm going to tell them I'm an advocate of ancient Chinese medicine, and the tongue is the map of the body. So there.

Anyway. Alternative medicine! Give me things to research, guys! It'll be helpful for this paper.

I been having the dreams, just like everybody, and just recently, I dreamt that M'am Ororo get me inducted into your group. Obviously means I ain't up on everything right now, but at least I know what I am. Scott was kind enough to fill me in on some of it.

I want to know everything you all can toss at me. If I slept with anybody, if I pissed you off, if I done anything good or bad. I remember my life up til now, but after joining? Blank slate. So I'm counting on you. Right now I'm just wanting to know tous les choses so I can look after me and my girl.

Well that was a fucking messed up dream.

I don't think I've ever seen the hospital this full. There are patients in the hallways. We've officially run out of beds.

This year is off to a very interesting start. I moved, and now Scott's sick, but he's bouncing back and forth between doing well and feeling terrible. I'm sure the inhaler is helping, so thank you to the developers of that, again. Since nobody knows what's going on, there's not much point in moving him until his symptoms become life threatening.

I didn't really want the year to start off like this. I could have done with more happiness and less gluing wounds together and coughing. Thank God I'm not sick. Whatever Dr. Faiza gave me must be helping. Once this has all blown over, I hope things will go back to whatever status quo they were at before.

I only got about three hours of sleep last night. The influx at the hospital is insane. This one's bad, this flu epidemic. I don't know if I've caught it, I feel fine, but I think it's affected my dreams. I had bizarre dreams last night about outer space on a space ship.

I knew I shouldn't have fallen asleep watching Lost in Space last night.
