We often see so much pain in this Network, in this odd little community of ours. Enough that I very nearly feel guilty in how content with my life I am.

Most people say that when they pass a major milestone in their life, things feel much the same as they always did. But I could not disagree more; fifty does not feel at all like forty-nine did. It's so much better than forty-nine was. I have a partner with whom I an entirely happy. My practice continues to go well, I'm able to provide myself and my partner with a very comfortable lifestyle.

It's more than I ever could have hoped for, and I find myself deeply gratified and thankful for what life has given me.

Even with all the shite that goes on here, the waking world is ten times less crazy than my dreams. At least here I don't constantly have to deal with clone hi-jinks. And Vic doesn't exist here so that makes things easier too. God, I hope Vic doesn't exist. He's the last person I'd want to see. Other than Paul.

I hear it's National puppy day. I'd post a picture of Dragon when he was a puppy, but we don't have any. Dragon was already like a year old or maybe a little older when Myrcella's uncle left him with her. I never actually saw him and his siblings as puppies. I've always known him as a loud, hyperactive menace. Okay, so he's only part menace. But he's still loud and hyperactive. No one can argue with me about that.

I just realized that April Fool's Day is quickly approaching. I'm debating whether I should take a vacation day, or perhaps take up the suggestion a friend made as to what I should do to participate instead.

Advice? Suggestions? Remember, I'm faculty at UC Irvine, so I have a bit of a reputation and a job I'd like to keep.

I think I've finally had those dreams. After a month of waiting, wouldn't you know it, I'm still stuck working for Tony Stark. Some of us get all the luck.
