I have just closed on the space for my new burlesque club in Huntington Beach. It will be Japanese themed - I myself am Japanese and wish for it to resemble the hostess clubs back home.

I am looking for liberated women who might be interested in working there. I am also looking for two deejays with experience, and a number of security men to ensure that my ladies are not harassed in any way - the latter is especially important. If a security person fails in a significant way, they will not remain employed for long.

Chopped the braids off today, went back to shorter hair. It felt like a good time to do it.

Well, I must say that I'm very glad I missed this latest shenanigan. It would have been quite hard to do my Bar Exam if I had been in another body. And can I just say that I'm really glad that is over with for now? I can't believe I have to sit and wait until November to find out if I passed or not. I understand why it takes so long since there's SO many of us taking the test, but come on.

This now means that I can go out and have some fun. What's going on that I should go do on this lovely Sunday? Or hell, even this week. I need to get out and away from my books.

First things first: 1st Lieutenant Nicholas Wolfwood, U.S. Army, most recently of the 1st Armored Division. Just off the plane from Afghanistan, and I mean I landed an hour ago, so I'm jet-lagged to hell.

Oftentimes, the dreams become nightmares. Terrible visions that plague us even into our waking hours and make us wonder what cruel gods haunt us. The thing about these nightmares is that they only end because we make it so. We wake up, we crawl and scratch and dig our way through the darkness until we find that light on the other side.

And when we find that light, we don't let go.

God knows it's a heavy weight. God knows the despair can be endless. Seeing that terror come to life, cutting down people like a slaughterhouse. You wonder how you can hold up. You fear another endless campaign of suffering, of choosing to sacrifice tens of thousands to save tens of millions. That's blood that doesn't just wash away.

Then it's over in an instant, and you feel this relief. But it's empty. It's hollow. Because tomorrow could bring another darkness. And the day after. And the day after that.

Without my crew, my family. Without their support... I'm nothing. Just a marine who stumbled into something big, something world shattering, and did the only thing she could do - try to stop it. And in this waking world, there are others. Many like me, thrust into their own respective situations that defined and altered them. Earth would be piled high with seven billion corpses without them.

A hero is someone who doesn't walk away, when everything is telling them to. There are more threats out there. I'm not going to walk away.

Taking a breather. Found a nice high spot, lots of visibility. Turns out the AP rounds in my rifle are pretty damn effective against most of these things. Got a nice view of our big friend, too, could probably guide in some strikes.

I don't have any "powers" or anything, but I am bloody good with daggers, I'm fit and flexible from years of doing stunts, and if the dreams have rubbed off, I can hold my own. Not sure I'd be good in a huge fuck-off firefight, but if there's anything I can do, I'm going to do it. Anyone?

We're setting up a big fireworks thing out at the ranch. Making arrangements so the animals aren't too close. But it should be pretty good. Gets real dark out there.

I've procured a sample of this "husk" and have been running tests to see if there's anything that I can create in the laboratory as an effective weapon against them. I'm afraid that I'm not coming up with as many solutions as I'd like, considering I've never dealt with anything like this before. Though, I have some theories.

Those of you who know me probably know about my club, Child of Leviathan. I know the title is something of a mouthful, but it sticks. I'd just like to remind everyone, in light of this sudden spread of disease, that Leviathan is giving free medical care to any who ask for it. You don't have to sit through sermons or give any donations; our beliefs are based on equality and everyone helping each other.
