My name's John, and I just moved out here from Texas to join [law firm]. I came across this network thing a bit by chance, but it seems sort of like the way to know what's going on around here and meet new people.

I've never been out to California so it's all pretty new to me still, but, uh, is it always so ... Eventful?

Hi everyone, my name is Annabeth. I'm new to this forum. I'm not really used to doing things like this, but I'm staying with my grandparents until I start USC in the fall. I'm studying architecture and I can't wait to get started there. I know, I'm one of those weirdos that misses school during the summer.

Are there any cool places to go hiking or just be active? I enjoy kickboxing and fencing as well.

It's so weird thinking I'll never go back to high school, that it's all over. I've got my college orientation next month, but other than that, summer's so empty. I need more hobbies than just sitting around the house, reading and practicing my French.

My parents are really worried about me still going to work, but I have to explain to them that death isn't taking a holiday just because there's monsters about. I have to help.

Doesn't mean I'm not carrying a baseball bat with me everywhere, but still.

My back and shoulders and chest are so sunburnt, it's not even funny. In all the excitement of yesterday at Stefan and Rebekah's BBQ, I forgot to put on sunscreen. I am so red. I don't think I've ever been this burnt. I need to go get some Aloe. Or ask Huck to get some for me. I'm just glad I'm not working today. Sunburnt Aurora or Rapunzel are not what the kids want to see. I think I'm gonna go take a cold shower now. If I don't spontaneously combust first.

I hope everybody had a wonderful July 4th - I've sent my husband into the hospital today with leftovers and a few pies I made.

It's very busy there with all of these terrible attacks and I thought the staff and patients could use a little energy boost.

Also once all this business is sorted - which I hope will be soon - I am offering art classes over the Summer to those who wish to take them. They don't have to be anything too heavy just for fun if you like. I can tailor to suit. Let me know if you would be interested and I will see about booking a room once a week or something.

I'm going to go with I did great today. Only had to make one trip back to the house because I forgot the diaper bag. At least I didn't forget the baby. It was a nice day. I wish we stayed out late enough to see the fireworks. I did get to see them on the ride home though. It was almost the same to watch them on TV.

I'm celebrating the Fourth of July in style. Can't wait for the fireworks with the family, and had some absolutely amazing food--feels like we were barbecuing all day! And then dessert, too! Tell me you love it? You know I love it.

Questions for the people who might know more about history than me.

1) Was there ever an Imperial Ballet in Warsaw? I wouldn't actually think so, given that I don't think it was a big deal of a city in the Russian Empire.

2) Was there ever a country called Bohemia?

Good day fellow teens.

I'm Wensleydale and I've recently and unexpectedly moved here from England. Seems to me that's the sort of decision a family would deliberate on a bit. However as I'm sure you, as fellow teens, already know, parents are quite useless.

I should note that I'm writing this message under duress. It's been suggested¹ that I, "Make some friends, get a job, do some activities, lose your virginity², something," and it's with this in mind that I introduce myself to you now. This is not, as you may have already supposed, a suggestion. They're withholding my car until I comply. Which I bought, mind, and had to sell before we moved, but there's no reason I shouldn't get a new one once I've passed the driving exam.

So I'm thinking that I'll play along for as long as necessary, and then after a year I'll have earned the ability to move back home or somewhere that is - on principle - not here.

If there's anyone reading this that's approximately aged 16-18 and would like to hang out³, or could tell me more about this place, or knows a business that is hiring, I would mildly appreciate your assistance.

I am officially no longer working at Target. I mean it's a nice store and all, but retail is still retail.

I'm going to get my start in the fashion world. I'm so excited. I have so many ideas, it's ridiculous.

I'm declaring a hiatus from this network for the next...however long. Definitely until after the fourth, which is going to be Hell at any rate. Anybody on here who needs me can text, email, skype me at Courfeyracoon, or call me and I'll be around but everything's too much right now and I need to be alone with me, and possibly Jehan, Marius, Bahorel, and Enj right now.

I'll catch up with you guys once things have settled down for me, but I have a LOT of stuff I need to be alone with for a while.

Poor Nessie has a fever. I took her to the doctors to get some medication and vaccines, but she is a miserable little princess right now.

Uhhh... Not sure I'm digging this Zombie thing. I haven't seen any yet, but I don't like the way people are talking about them. Unless it's some inside joke that I don't get?

The events of the last few days have been artistically inspiring in a way. First the meteor shower with its various colors, and now these creatures. The contrast between the darkness and those glowing lights on them.

I think I might explore the inclusion of LED lights on my next set of jewelry, or do some work with darker metal and brighter contrasting gems.

So this week in science; well, I don't suppose it all happened this week. It's just mentioned this week, but whatever. There molecules inside of naked mole rats that make them immune to cancer... obviously a great chance for the human species to find a way to eradicate the disease.

A battery was printed on a 3D printer, it was powerful and no larger than a grain of sand.

Also, evidence of bacterial DNA in the human genome! Brilliant, or perhaps not.


Fifty years ago today, this isn't exactly science as much as it is history obviously, but still... JFK visits Berlin! Brilliant day it seems, wish I'd been there.

And in two days it will be the 100th anniversary of the second Balkan War! A war that pre-dated WWI, but yet help set it up, and therefore a war that, in all understanding, could have very minutely helped to set up the world we live in today.

I've been saddled with intro level stats courses for the spring and summer semesters. I'm so pleased.

Here's a word of advice to all of you still in college or university: don't save your requirements until the very end. Get them out of the way. Your professors do not enjoy staring into your blank faces anymore than you enjoy listening to them. We would all rather be doing something else.

Fortunately, my TAs have far more patience than I do. It's still going to be a long couple of months.

HELLO! My name is Valerie Frizzle and this is my first time on a message board thing like this before. So, I'm not entirely sure what I should be writing about, but I might as well give a small introduction about myself.

I am going to Fullerton to get my teaching degree and I want to teach elementary age students. I want to be a general teacher, but I really love science. I play the drums in my spare time and here's a random fact about myself: When I was little my parents told me that my hair was orange because I ate so many carrots (which I loved). So, I tried to go a month without eating a carrot to change my hair color. It obviously didn't work, but my parents had a good laugh about it.

How is everyone?

I don't think I've ever cried so many tears of happiness. I know I haven't been in this country very long, but to see people who have been in this fight for years, decades, even. It's very moving. I don't think I could be any more pleased.

These....creatures are utterly fascinating. Clearly human in origin, but modifed in ways that are both biological and technological. I've never seen anything like this to such an extent.

I've already captured one, soon I'll open it up and see what

Anyone else get the sense that the world is crazy? Like legitimately crazy. I've spent the better part of my life believing in fate and destiny, thinking that people are inherently good. And I suppose I do still believe that, in fact I'm pretty sure it's true, but the fact is sometimes this world seems just so random, so incredibly cruel, that if there is destiny and fate it's too cruel. Too horrific, and that it needs to be random. No 'fate' could really put anything on this road.

Sorry, just venting. One of the kids I talked to just found out they were diagnosed with cancer. How does any kid deserve this?

I passed the test. I'm going to be a police officer. I start on Monday.

I just witnessed the most adorable thing in the world during my break. As a result of the marriage equality news today, Peter Pan proposed to Aladdin in the middle of the break room. They've been dating almost as long as me and Huck and everyone knew it was coming eventually, but since California was being an asshat until now, they were waiting. The best part was that Aladdin wasn't even expecting it. I'm so incredibly excited for them.

God, some of the things I've witnessed in our break room would probably have some parents outraged. I love it.

Is it weird that I didn't throw a party or whatever for graduating high school? I just always figured it would, it wasn't really in question. And I start college in August, so it's not like I'm free from something. Just a little bit older now.

I'll probably feel differently when I graduate college, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy sleeping in from time to time while I still can.

In honor of this fact (and because my sister and her boyfriend are among you) I am opening Always on Monday evening for a party. Non-alcoholic cocktails, music and fun are all yours.

It wouldn't be that bad if half of what I tried to give her didn't end up on my shirt. Now to my list of chores today I can add doing laundry and mopping in the kitchen. As well as an early bath for yours truly. If only she could have told me before I made it for her.

My summer class starts in a few days. I can barely believe it. I was so worried about leaving high school that I took a grad year. I've been looking over the reading list and think that it was a good idea to only take the one class. Already emailed the professor about some question I thought of when skimming through one of the books.

Good start? I think so.

I got woken up today by a flock of robins on my balcony. They decided to serenade me by singing Bohemian Rhapsody. While, I enjoy that song quite a bit, I did not enjoy being woken up early on one of my few days to sleep in. Is this going to be over soon?

My cat, Scout, really does think she's a dog. She asked me why she can't poop outside today. I told her it was because she's an indoor cat, at which point she proceeded to scream CAT, WHERE? and bark rather loudly.

Should I just ... not tell her?

So, I'm eighteen today. Which means that I can smoke now? Because I was looking at skin mags and drinking booze yesterday and I'm going to do it today too if I so fancy. This country's so strange.

I am still completely hung over from my 23rd birthday celebration last night. I think it tripped me out when my kitten sung to me. An official Happy Birthday goes out to my favorite twins in Huntington Beach. You're legal now. Woot.

Either I've been working at Disneyland too long or the squirrels in the tree by the kitchen window really are having a conversation about the neighbors. Either that or I've been drugged.

It's true - I've put in my two weeks at the tea shop so I can help my boyfriend with his store. I wonder if he'll give me double the sexual harrasment speech?

But honestly, I can't complain. My daughter boyfriend's daughter is doing great in school, the house is lovely, and I'm looking forward to working with Jefferson.

Kinda feels like I'm just asking for a bout of bad luck, but I'm really happy.

My mother says I need to get a job over the summer. Who's hiring? Where is it good to work? Any suggestions? Figure I might as well ask here before I start job hunting.

So Father's Day was predictably horrific. Still not entirely sure I want to go home, to be honest.

I do believe my children may regret letting me onto the internet when I start gushing about how wonderful they are and how proud I am of them all but I think they know me well enough by now. Besides I am sure it is the role of a parent to embarrass their children. At least that is what I am sticking to.

So, apparently this is the place where all the cool kids hang out?

It's so weird I'll be starting college in August. Is it wrong of me to say I'm glad I'm able to skip dorm life and stay here with my parents? It's to help take care of my aunt - she's a hundred, so she's not super mobile anymore - but I feel guilty about being glad about it.
