Well the official word just came in - effective September 1st, I'm no longer acting head of the West Coast branch of the company. I'm the actual head of it. My boss is stepping down and the board decided that I'm the best qualified to fill his position when he retires. It was the decision that was in the works when I moved out here with the girls but it somehow feels even better knowing that it wasn't just the head who thought I could handle it. Knowing that it's official now.

What do you say we ask Lily to keep the girls for a weekend while you and I take a long weekend to celebrate?

Finally got the last box of my books unpacked at the house and now I just want to go curl up with Pan and Zelda and take a long nap. I'd say get George to join us but she looks pretty comfortable curled up with her sisters and Bernie in the bunny room. Usually one of the three girls is going all over the place so I'm definitely not going to interrupt them being calm and cuddly together.

I love this kind of science. It's human nature to anthropomorphize everything, but in my dreams other species are just as curious about us as we are about them.

Spent my birthday earlier this month house hunting. I have very exacting standards so I may have to contract to build one from scratch.
