So much for the idea the dreams were done. I don't know if I should be relieved I have an idea on how they'll turn out, or confused by the changes.

Oh my God. What have I done. Why did I think any of this was a good idea? It was so easy to say yes.

I can't do this. I can't settle down like this. This is all a disaster.

Maybe a week in San Francisco will calm me down.

I actually left England and chose California for the weather... seems a bit ironic now, especially today. Looking out of my window the weather is particularly bad. Still, don't have to go anywhere until this evening, so now I shall enjoy a warm tea and some fantastic reading. Which is fortunate, because I can't really seem to find my winter jacket.

I probably left it in England.

So this is America, then, is it? Honestly, I can't say I'm much surprised. It's more or less how I pictured it, well, maybe with a bit more snow for California but there was that whole vortex thing last year, yes?

Anyway, I heard someone at the university mention this and figured I'm rather old hat at the blog thing, why not give a network a go. It's meant to be a good way to meet people. I'm John, John Watson. Dr John Watson, if we're being proper. I've come from the UK to teach at the University of California, in Irvine, in surgery. I used to be in the military back over there - the UK - but now I teach. I am just a teacher.

What is everyone planning for New Year's Eve?

I kind of want to stay in and not get drunk this New Years.
