A Taste of Home will be opening our doors for Thanksgiving for anyone who has nowhere to go - free full Thanksgiving Dinner. If you're able to, we're taking donations for the food banks but it isn't necessary to get in. First come first serve.

I only had to unplug half the electronics in the Cafe today. Jesus christ sometimes I swear. Thank god my stovetop still works. I need a vacation. Again.

The lights have been flickering all night at Fangtasia and when I attempt to call an electrician to come look at it, I get different numbers. The sound system also occasionally switches songs mid way through. If this keeps up, I'll have to close early and that's the last thing I want to do.

Halloween is easy. I just grab a uniform from the closet. That said, the cafe is having all kinds of Halloween baked goods. come eat some before I do.

I do enjoy the project of a new to me bike. Paired with the sheer number of pies I'm baking and harvest dishes at the Cafe, I'm happily busy, busy, busy. I do love harvest time, some of the comfort foods are the best.

Though, this week, I'm happier getting my hands dirty on the bike.

Peach pies are a thing. I may have made a couple.

I promise I'm still here. Even if I don't feel comfortable in the city anymore. For a period of time I got to help people, do plenty of dangerous things, and get myself into trouble. Now I'm not connected to the people I know very well, and I'm sure it's my own fault, and I just want to move to the middle of nowhere. Sometimes I wish I knew how to reconnect. I miss being involved in things.

Also had another dream which may be making me feel like I really am out of place.

Oh, good times. More dreams. I need more alcohol this month.

Are you kidding me. I've gone dreamless for months and now dreams? Fuck you, OC.

Lesson learned: experimenting with powers you have in your head leads to giving yourself a migraine from hell that you try to drink into the ground then fuck up your mental organization and end up worse off than you started.

A few weeks later and I'm finally functional again. So glad the Cafe runs without my brain functional. I am so freaking worn out it's beyond ridiculous. That said, it made nothing better. I'm so over this untouchable bullshit.

Also, I think I'll be laying off experimenting for a while. That was terribly unpleasant.

Not gonna lie, I get curious as to what this place will throw at us this time of year. I have yet to be disappointed.

I'm not even sure what I put a knife through or shredded with sharp things but it was a good morning. I jinxed us by telling someone about the time plants got all sentient I think, because really these gifts are just as bad.

I get to work on my aim though

Sometimes the OC gives you just what you needed when you needed it. Okay and being pushed by your best friend helps.

Now let's see if it'll let me take a few days off without getting me attacked being harassed. Probably not. The people who ruined my Alaska trip are still out there. I will end them

Taste of Home will be closed for both Christmas and New Years. Also, it's sad, snow doesn't phase me here any more.

I'm leaving Taste of Home in the hands of my staff for a few weeks, if you don't see me that's why. I need to just not be at work.

Okay, that's the last time I have jalapeno vodka before bed. I'm done. Whatever the hell THAT nightmare was, it won't stop coming back to me. Kind of like how the spicy thai place down the road 'repeats' on me.

As per usual, Taste of Home will be open on Thanksgiving with an all you can eat feast, free, for anyone with no place to go.

I need to stop being fat and lazy. Long story, but I need training buddies. And a running buddy.

I've been debating whether or not to step back from the day to day operations for Taste of Home and just come in a few days a week instead of 16 hour days. Pretty sure I've burned myself out a bit over the last few years. It's not like I need to bust ass to make sure it stays open, we're thriving.

But I can't exactly manage to do more than step outside the door for more than a few hours before I find myself back in the kitchen.

I'm utterly hopeless. Someone come lock me away for a few weeks somewhere. Until then:

Pro tip: never chat with one of your closest friends while carrying pots of soup. The things she'll insinuate to you will make you drop the pot.

Also don't drink coffee while continuing the conversion. You will try to breathe it.

Sitting in the waiting room while my bike is retuned and checked for its normal mileage check is sometimes boring. This time, the exact people and scene around has inspired an idea for an upcoming scene, and I'm finding the time racing by now.

What do you people do to speed time by on a boring day? Or alternatively, what makes you not notice time's passage?

Taste of Home will have a full Easter spread for dinner and a brunch too, for anyone who wants.

I ate way too much pie yesterday for Pi Day. It was delicious, but I'm not joining pie eating contests any time soon.

Going out drinking instead of working is a good choice, right? No? didn't think so.

Happy Halloween, everyone! Two days to come up with a costume was a challenge but I think I managed. One of my favorite video games growing up was final fantasy. So I decided to go back to that.

Yeah, just for the record I am not at the Cafe today - trying to do anything with this hair is killer. Whatcha think?

Okay, maybe the water in a dog bowl was a little much, Dream!me. Even if it was kind of funny.

Protip: Don't try to handcuff a werewolf to the radiator on the night of the full moon. An given that the full moon was a couple nights ago, this advice is a little late, but there you have it. Better late than never?

I might just keep Guinness stew on the menu year round, I actually like how that turned out and that's not my usual method of handling Guinness.

...I'm pretty sure I didn't go to sleep in the shower last night. I distinctly remember getting into bed. And it's weird because I had a dream that...well. I was hiding in the shower because of reasons. And that's where I woke up. In my pajamas. With the water running.

What? No. I totally didn't vanish into the cafe and forget to come out again, I swear.

Okay, then. Well, just woke up from less than two hours of sleep, and from some of the damnedest, most realistic dreams I have ever had. Man, I was really hoping I could avoid that!

Christmas was good.
New Year's went well.

Much food was had. Much fun was had. And so on and so forth.

Anyone got some fun resolutions for the year?

Christmas has come to the OC, again. Not my fault this time! I didn't wish for the snow! Considering most of my employees are freaking out about, well, snow, I'm the only one here at the cafe.

So please flock here and keep me entertained but remember, I'm only one woman and can only cook or serve, not do both at the same time.

Oh and possibly help me decorate? I'll pay you in cookies, food and beer?

I knew I skipped Halloween for a good reason this year.

Well as quickly as that awesome mood swept in, it swept back out. It was lovely, though, while it lasted. Time to find how to recapture it. Had a lot of fun, though. I honestly think it just has to do with who's the loudest in my head at the moment.

I think I'll curl up with a mug of tea and try to get them back into order. I hate having my head hurt.

I can't even lie, this has been one of the best months in awhile. Catering went without a hitch, food was delightful as usual, company was epic, I'm so glad I was part of the big day for one of my best friends.

I'm even taking a couple days off from the cafe to just relax. I'm just a happy person right now and not even this place is going to take that away from me. Give me your best shot, OC, I will punch you in the face so hard you forget you're in California.

I'm trying to avoid pumpkin anything until at least October. Seriously not going to cave on that. Cafe is pumpkin free until October when I shall begin pumpkin pie making. Though I am stocking up on recipes for Halloween. I'm looking forward to it. It's one of my favorite holidays.
