In about a week, Dani and I are going to be taking a long trip. When we get back we'll be settling in a new house in Vancouver. It's exciting, and a little terrifying, but the Ranch will be in good hands with Summers.

So I guess this'll be a goodbye.

Has anyone seen this? I think it's absolutely wonderful what technology and medicine can do these days. A dancer who lost her leg is now able to dance again, thanks to modern technology, and I think that's fantastic.

It gives me hope for the future.

Ugh, this is what I get for speaking out against my turn and being impatient with the chief. Now I'm on night shift till the end of the month. You'd think I'd learn by now when to hold my tongue even when he's being unreasonable. He'd say this isn't out of spite, but I was not on night shift before. He was trying to change everything with no reason or need that we could see and all it was doing was creating confusion. But apparently it's not my place to question and I'm to take orders no matter what they are'

[Sharon]
I wouldn't advise speaking much with the chief currently, he seems to be in a foul mood and I'm unsure why.

I had left some napkins on the counter earlier tonight after dinner when I went to watch some TV. I just came back into the kitchen before going to bed and found that Chairman Meow has torn them to shreds. He doesn't usually scratch at paper and things like that, because he has one of those obnoxiously big scratching posts/cat condos. I have a feeling he may have been trying to get my attention.

I'm still on the fence as to how I feel about children as a species, but I did have an amusing conversation while at the docks today.

I was tying up my boat after going out for an afternoon sail, and was approached by a little girl. She introduced herself (Molly, I think), and I introduced myself as James Hook. She asked me what I was, and I told her I was a lawyer.

After inspecting me and my boat with a shrewd eye, she replied that no, I was clearly a pirate.

I tried explaining that lawyers aren't really all that bad, but she was insistent. "Your name is Hook," she explained, in that very logical way that children have, "You're missing a hand, and your boat is called The Jolly Roger. You have to be a pirate."

So I winked and told her not to tell anyone, and she ran off quite happy that she'd met a real live pirate.

So there we are, then. James Matthew Hook, esquire. A pirate.

I'm officially moved back in with my girl. I'm really glad to be home.

We're going on vacation though. Aruba.

Don't do anything we wouldn't do.

Work can be a delight. The sound of screaming happy patients music in my ears, the data showing me such wonderful things. It's a good time to be in my field. I'm helping people.

I'm Claudine and I run the Milbury Clinic. We specialize in general care for low-income families and individuals. All are welcome.

Ah, California. It's been many years since I've been on this side of America, though I must say that I spent most of that time in San Francisco and not here in Orange County. I am quite happy at the prospect of spending an extended amount of time here.

My name, as I'm certain it's considered standard to introduce oneself, is Max Eisenhardt. I am a professor and will be teaching at UCI come fall. I feel perhaps there aren't many on this network my age, but I do like to keep up with the times. If one does not embrace progress then one will find themselves quickly out of touch, after all. I do wonder perhaps if some of my prospective students are here?

Being a doctor means that I've seen some really gross things, but this might just take the cake.

Public, but cut for possible creepy/grossness )

Now, when I go home, I'm gonna find something on Animal Planet to watch with kittens and puppies to get that image out of my head.

The ranch is currently in a state of controlled chaos as we transition over. It's not too bad, Wrex and Shepard ran this place so well my job is going to be pretty easy.

I spent this morning volunteering at a local soup kitchen then came back to the shelter to finish preparations for our Memorial Day BBQ tomorrow. The day isn't even over and I'm already exhausted. I really do need to put out this ad for an assistant. I hired a handyman, so I have one less thing to deal with, but there's so much that goes into this job and I really can't handle it all on my own anymore. Especially not with the dreams and thinking about David.

While I don't mind spring cleaning, which needs to be done in this house quite often, my sinuses don't enjoy it. It's hard to believe that there are actually rooms in this house that neither Sirius or I have used and we've been living here for some time now. I suppose with it only being the two of us. it makes sense, but then it seems that those rooms get dusty pretty quickly.

So I'm here back in the city (from those not from the Tri-State area that would be the one and only New York City) and it feels good. Even the weather is nice. Mom and I have since made up so it's all good. She still wants me back on the force here, and I'm tempted. But weird enough I think the OC is growing on me.

Came back in time for Fleet Week too which is cool and amusing. Nothing like watching a bunch of squids hit the town.

Cut for touristy image )

I wanted to warn them not to pose with the fake Mickeys but it was more fun to watch them get suckered. I swear Times Square looks like a bootlegged version of Disneyland that threw up all over a Marvel movie. So many costumed panhandler's it's ridiculous.

My sister and I closed on a house with a pool. Between voice lessons and dance classes, I think she might be right - maybe I'm too stuffy and need more friends.

If I threw a pool party, would anyone from here come? It's summer, it kind of feels like the right time for that sort of thing.

(See, Kimber, I do so listen.)

Billy and I are going to Pride in LA on the weekend of the sixth. We were gonna go to San Francisco again, which was where we met last year, but it turns out that this year it's the same weekend that we'll be in Scotland for Zelda's wedding. So we're gonna do LA and have just as much fun as San Fran.

We'd love it if anyone else wants to join us.
