Of all places, why return me here? There is nothing of interest in this particular year nor any happenings, save for the very end of it, to peek my curiosities. Why do you insist upon boring me, Asaph?

I suppose, at the very least, I can hold this over my brother's head. Hello, Mycroft. For once, I'm the eldest.

Irene, dear, will I have to find another place to stay for the time being, or will you be able to adjust to this?

Okay, this isn't funny. Where the hell did everyone go? JARVIS seems to think they're here, but he can't actually contact any of them. If he sent everyone back without me, there is going to be a fucking show down. I've battled gods before, and I will do it again.

That was rather unsettling.

Given the recent events taking place within the city, I have been left with no decision but to declare a state of emergency. As such, martial law is now in effect and will remain as such until the situation has been resolved or, at the very least, general order has been restored.

For any who may have an objection to this decision, know that I did not come by it lightly. However it is also not a decision open for debate nor is it one I feel I am required to justify. I have complete faith in the police department's ability to properly manage the responsibility they are being given and I will not debate whether or not they are capable of such regardless of the reasons for the objections. For now, until further notice, Chief Wuornos has carte blanche to do what he sees fit, as he sees fit to do it, in order to ensure the general security of all who inhabit Colligo.

Anyone who disagrees is welcome to find elsewhere to stay until the recent bout of madness to plague the city has passed. For those who choose to remain in Colligo, thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this manner.

Okay. Enough is enough. I know I'm not the only person in this city that this gas can't hurt and I definitely know I'm not the only one of us who is bothered by the amount of people - local and non-local alike - who are being hurt by it. So to quote a pretty amazing, tiny Antichrist the way I see it, it's time for a plan.

Cut to spare the friends list. )

Okay. I'm going to go scrap scrounging tomorrow. I've got four projects lined up, and I could use some people to help me sort through this stuff and see what might be useful. Anyone with an engineering background and/or super strength is invited to come. Other applicants will be evaluated on a case by case basis. I built the first Iron Man armor in a cave, so this should be cake in comparison.

Cap, Thor, you guys are third on my list of priorities. (Congratulations, that's much higher than most people will ever be.) Mandatory technology orientation. This week or next week. First, someone's going to need to beg, borrow or steal me a larger monitor. I can't do a technology orientation on this laptop. Also, you'll both be getting new phones when I get around to making them. The name of the game, my friends, is shock absorption. Making Thor's withstand lightning is going to be interesting. But if we play it right, I guess you might never have to plug it in to charge it. And obviously they'll have to be user-friendly, since you're both dinosaurs. And I say that fondly.

Actually, no. New holographic lab environment is number one, you guys are bumped to number four. But a number four that is very close to my heart. Fourth closest. But still close.

After that, we're watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. That's number five. Though I wouldn't call it a project, exactly. Well, I guess your ongoing cultural education is sort of a project. If not one that will respond to scrap metal.

Banner, I could use your help with something. Especially if you don't have a problem with larceny, but even if you do.

I have a business proposal for you.

How do you feel about clean, self-sustaining energy?

I don't know what Pepper's told you about me - only good things, I'm sure. But back on our home planet, I recently constructed a sky scraper for my tech company that's powered by its own independent arc reactor, capable of sustaining the tower for a year without any cost to the city. That was just a test run, but given adequate space, cash and resources, I could easily construct a series of reactors to power the city for at least a year before the palladium has to be replaced. (I mean vibranium would be better, but I'm not sure if you have that here.)

Anyway. It's green, it's self-sustaining, and while initial costs are high, long-term costs would actually be lower than nuclear power without the risk of another Chernobyl situation. Cleaner than fossil fuels. Vasty less damaging to the environment than the materials used for solar panels, and I'm sure you already know the limitations of wind energy. Since there's no cost to run it, it will pay for itself in less than a year, which would allow you to lower city-wide energy costs in less than two. (Or I guess you could keep them where they are and pocket the difference, I don't know your life.) And you know exposure presents no risk, because I've been living with one inside my chest for the last several years, and I'm still around to tell you about it.

Let's talk.

( Fail!Filter to Mycroft - with added honesty )

Mr. Holmes, your eleven o'clock for tomorrow has rescheduled, so you'll be meeting with them at one thirty instead. I've adjusted your calendar accordingly. Actually, I adjusted your schedule accordingly when the appointment was first made. The man is an idiot who couldn't be on time if his life depended on it.

Also, I thought it prudent to remind you of the charity event next Saturday. I know they're terribly boring and you want to kill yourself by the end of the night, but it is a necessary evil.

And the month's lease is up on my place in a few weeks. I was wondering what you think about the possibility of me moving in with you. I've considered the issue carefully and it is a practical option. Work meetings cause me to spend more time at your home than my own and, in Lucy's absence, this place is too big for just me. And, of course, it's far more practical from an economic standpoint.

Also there's the fact that I do have a strong romantic attachment to you, so living together wouldn't be a hardship. I'd even go so far as to say that I love you. And I seem to be under the influence of a compulsion toward honesty, so I may take a few days off work or have Darcy handle communicating with especially trying individuals.

What do you think? Specifically about moving our relationship forward, but feel free to comment on the rest.

It figures I was just starting to figure out my way around the TARDIS and I get dropped back into my own body only to get swamped with makeup work. Would I be crazy to say that I preferred being in someone else's body as opposed to spending two days doing class work? At least I've got it all done and it's back to City Hall tomorrow after class. I'm still undecided which internship has been more exciting; the one where a Norse God fell out of the sky or the one where I work for the brother of Sherlock Holmes. So far Norse Gods falling out of the sky is winning though.

Accidental Voice Post.

No identifying features. Generic. Too generic. Frustratingly generic. The flat's the same. It could be any number of buildings in any number of places.

How did I get here?

This really isn't that bad. There is nothing wrong with waking up in bed next to a beautiful woman.

Actually, it's a pretty nice thing to wake up to, if you ask me.

Oh, look. This place again. Wonderful. It isn't as though I'd anything of any great importance currently requiring my attention in my own reality. A return to Colligo is precisely what I needed.

Really, Collector. This is becoming quite tedious. Do be a good chap and make up your mind already. Either keep me here or send me back. Enough with the ridiculous flip-flopping. You're beginning to resemble a fish out of water and it's hardly becoming.

No, no, not like that. Diagonal. And only when the path is unblocked. Yes, yes, that's much better. Bishop to... C5, is it? Capture my pawn. Clever. Hm.

I must admit, when forewarned that rather odd things tended to happen in this city, even I wasn't quite prepared for all of this. It's extremely intriguing, of course, but rather dangerous to just pass about abilities of this calibre to wholly unsuspecting people.

[info]choseherside

I've fallen for some pretty pathetic things in my day but even I know that this cannot possibly be what happens after you die. The afterlife if one even exists would not be this lame.

So, enough with this 'that's for you to decide' New Age crap. Who do I have to shoot around here to start getting some useful answers?

Oh my. How curious. A self-sustaining city, clearly far removed from general society yet with just enough attention to detail to appear otherwise.

I must admit, I'm intrigued.
