Accidental Voice Post

[Loud hiphop music and people shouting over it can be heard; Raven - the only one whose voice is easily distinguishable - sighs heavily. There's the banging of a door and the rest of the noises become muffled. When Raven speaks, she's clearly muttering to herself.]

Well, that was about as much fun as a trip to the dentist. [a pause; there's the distinct sound of the door banging once more - with the noises from the club becoming loud then muffled once again; Raven doesn't seem to notice]

Okay, maybe a little more fun than the dentist, but still not as [a pause] Uh. Hi there. Something I can help you with? [there's a muffled voice, low and angry-sounding; the words are too garbled to make out but it's obvious from Raven's snort of derision a heartbeat later that she clearly doesn't give a damn what they're saying]

Right. Because it's my fault that your guy noticed m- [there's a loud slap and a clatter as the PDA falls to the ground - Raven's voice becomes a bit distant-sounding]

You slapped me! Who just walks up to someone and slaps them? That's seriously rude! [there's the sound of someone punching someone else; Raven's grunts softly and mutters to herself] Okay, ouch. Note to self. Figure out how to punch someone without use of your- [she trails off at the telltale sound of a gun being cocked]

A gun.

[a pause; her tone is disbelieving]

You're going to shoot me over a guy? A guy that noticed me? Are you actually nuts? We danced. Seriously. I even turned down his number. And you don't just-

[there's a loud bang and a gasp of pain; the thud of a body hitting the ground is coupled with the sound of someone in high heels running away; for a moment, there's nothing else, then a sharp intake of breath that's very wheezy and filled with pain]

Sonofa- [a couple of seconds of coughing follow then another, softer thud; then, there's nothing but silence save for the distant sound of music playing and cars driving past]

It occurred to me today that it's been about a year since Asaph tossed me back in time and the whole us forgetting that we'd been here thing reminded me that you guys had the same thing happen to you. You guys got brought here as kids, grew up then got sent back in time. So, I got curious, what's it been like for you guys? Jesse, you're still new to reliving your past, right? Has anything been different yet? Like, I mean, there are some people here now who weren't here in my original 2012 and there are things that have happened because I'm this age and not eleven, like I should be. [There's metal clanging, growing further away from the PDA, and the soft thud then a click as doors are quietly shut. For a moment following, there's nothing but silence, then a low moaning sound can be heard in the distance. A young girl speaks, the words coming out a bit jumbled and almost muted sounding, as though she's trying to form them but her mouth won't quite cooperate with what she wants to say.]

'oogeymen no. G-G-Go away!

[A low rumble begins; small pebbles can be heard bouncing against the ground as everything begins to shake.]

No 'oogeymen. Not f-food.

[The rumbling increases, as does the inhuman groaning that is clearly zombies for anyone who has heard them before. There's the sound of something falling rapidly through the air followed by a loud splat followed by a quick series of them. The groaning stops and there is silence before the girl speaks again, this time in a tone that is much calmer.]

Better. Not 'ood. Better.

[There's a howling in the distance and the girl breathes a resigned sort of sigh.]

Has anyone else noticed that the majority of us here who have huge chunks of time missing all appear to be in or around our late teens or are children? So, I'm curious if there are any other kids or teenagers here who are also missing time. My theory about this entire thing is that whoever brought us here wants to observe us, but that doesn't explain the memory loss and I, personally, would like those memories back. I don't appreciate having my head messed with.

[in the background, music can be heard playing softly before suddenly being interrupted by an alarmed shriek from a monkey followed by some shuffling about, a gasp, then a resounding thud coupled with a grunt before a female voice begins speaking]

[sounds of someone standing back up before sucking in a sharp breath]

Okay, now I can see ~~my "daughter"~~ the baby again so she's back with me. I just don't know what to do with her. She's not really mine. I can't just abandon her, but I'm not cut out to be a mother, especially to a baby who isn't really mine. I hate asking for advice, but this is pretty extreme, so here goes me sucking up my pride.

Has anyone else ended up with a sort-of-theirs kid before and has thoughts on what to do?

And is anyone really good with kids and might be up for getting hired as a full-time nanny? I don't want to keep sending her to daycare with all those strangers and sick kids. She needs a reliable constant. I think.

What the hell do you do when they won't stop crying?

To anyone who can see this (and is of legal drinking age): tonight, I'm going to have an Iron Man viewing party in the tower. Complete with the Iron Man drinking game that Darcy Lewis found. I don't actually have the DVD, but I've got the internet and an HDMI cable -- and Steve's not here to give me the "Piracy is bad" talk -- so there shouldn't be any problems with this plan. I've got some alcohol here, but I firmly believe that you can never have too much.

I predict that this will fulfill my desire to get drunk (and any need I may have for socialization) while circumventing the long, boring process of us getting to know each other, so it's a win-win.

Well, looks like we can add Molly to the list of people who have been sent home today. You'd think Asaph would decide not to send people home right now. I was going to find her to ask her if she wanted to play video games, because I'm extremely bored and while I know I should probably go patrolling, I don't really feel like it tonight. So, back to the point, I was going to find her and her room is empty. I hadn't realized until now that I hadn't seen Old Lace all day, which is unusual. Sucks, cause in my own time, Molly and I were pretty close. It's weird, having certain memories of people in the future Colligo I came from, but those people not actually being here now. You would think that those people getting sent home would somehow change the future that I know. Then again, there are some things, like The Professor and Erik getting together that hasn't changed.

So, I still want to play some video games, but doing it alone is kind of boring and I'd ask Raven, but I think she might be working, plus now I kind of want to find someone new to play against. Anyone want to come over and play? Professor, do I have to ask to invite people over? Considering I don't exactly go out of my way to do this, I'm not exactly sure on the protocol.

Okay. So apparently, I'm going to be here for awhile, or at least until Aspath or Morgan Freeman or whatever his name is grows of bored with me and sends me home.

Which means I need to think about school. Also a job. Anyone know where I could find both? I'm a sophomore in high school, though I could honestly try and skip a couple of grades and go right into college, if for some reason there's not a high school or anything like that around here. It's the job part where I'm going to have some trouble. I really don't have any prior job experience like, at all, so I could see where that would be a problem. But I can be trained. I also don't have a criminal record of any kind, in case anyone needs to do a background check.

[There's the unmistakable sound of the knights beginning to move followed by the clearing of a throat before a little girl speaks up. Although soft-spoken, she doesn't sound afraid but rather polite, with an unspoken, understated sense of her simply knowing what to do.]

'scuse me, but can you just give me my thing so I can get somebody to come pick me up? I'm not really s'posed to be out by myself.

[The metallic clanging stops then the little girl's voice is much closer to the PDA now. She's smiling.]

[Old Lace can still be heard growling, as the guards come near them, and Molly can be heard grabbing the dinosaur.]

No, Old Lace. As stupid as they are, you can't attack them. I am not getting thrown in that smelly little cell again. It's stupid and horrible and really stinks. Like bad foot odor and fish stinks. C'mon, we gotta go back to the mansion. That is, if Aspath hasn't been really dumb lately and sent everyone home or something. He does that sometimes.

[Another pause, as Molly pushes through the the guards to get her and Old Lace out of the library. The slam of the door is soon heard.]

....I probably shouldn't call him dumb though, since he just brought us back. 'Cause if I do, he might just send us back again or somethin'.

Stop sniffing around Old Lace, we gotta go to the mansion. Then we can go looking for Adam and Dog, and go exploring or do whatever we want to do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate Asaph! I hate his stupid mistletoe. And I hate when I try to do something right and it blows up in my face. I couldn't just let her break into the bank. I had to try and stop her. What happened after that wasn't my fault! Why couldn't it have been Crane or something? I need a job. I should probably go to school here so I can find replacement friends. And also finish my degree. Or maybe my friends already here, but I can only find them by going to classes. But if the school has tuition, I will need a way to pay for it.

I have experience as a fry cook working at my dad's falafel restaurant and at my school's cafeteria making chicken fingers. This would also be good if anyone needed me to be a crime boss in a mafia movie.

I have also worked as a filmmaker, mostly web shorts and documentaries. And an actor, mostly in extended fast-paced escapades. Best known for my Don Draper, but my Han Solo has picked up some traction recently. And a news anchor, on closed circuit local access television. And an editor, mostly the TV Tropes website. Not paid.

I also have some experience as Batman.

Hello, Colligo. I'm Selina. I take it from my reading and listening that I'll be stuck here awhile, until I'm not. I'm furious, but right now I want information more than I want to lash out at complete strangers who're just as screwed over as I am. ~~Just give me a reason...~~

I'm supposed to be going to an assigned apartment, but that really isn't my style. At all. I'll find my own way, thanks. I'll take it for now until I find what I want. Can anyone recommend what to check out? I've done some looking around already, but I don't know enough yet about anything's reputation. Tell me about the neighborhoods here, where people aim to go and where they avoid.

My first priority, though-- is there an animal rescue anywhere? Where would someone look for cats in need of homes?
