Is it just me or have other people been talking a lot more than usual? Particularly about things they normally don't talk about, especially the inane?

I'm mostly asking because I just spent the past ten minutes talking to a customer about my thoughts on the outfit she was wearing when all she had asked was if I liked her new purse. Considering fashion and I don't exactly go well together, that's not all that like me.
