The outbreak occurred in the summer of 1998. It started in the American Midwestern town of Raccoon City and brought hell to earth. The accident on a special express train was the first in the series of biohazard outbreaks caused by Umbrella Corporation. The virus brought something worse than death, and stupidity allowed it to reach beyond the borders when rats ate from the diseased bodies. Those that survived found that death was only the beginning. Those infected rose up after being killed or dying of the virus itself, becoming 'zombies'. Their bite transferred the virus, no cure existing.

The destruction of Raccoon City and the loss of the 100,000 citizens, or former citizens depending on how one looked at it, did little to stop it. There were too many willing to experiment with the powers of a god.

(Screams can be heard in the background along with random shouting. Static consumes the line before dropping back. A female robotic voice speaks up.) Wesker, Albert. I have taken it upon my authority to revoke your access privileges to the mainframe system.
