Hey guys! This is the official Halloween party thread. You may tag into it ICly and interact with each other, or you may tag it OOC and just tell us what your character(s) did or are doing for the night. The hall was officially decorated by Caroline, there's food with the appropriate Halloween themes, music and general entertainment. Justine did also add in a gaudy Halloween sign that says 'Happy Birthday Harry' and there will be cake. There is a costume contest, I don't know how you guys want to decide who won that, but go for it and have fun! Justine is also personally greeting everyone and handing out bags of assorted candy.

Valar. This town is infuriatingly tiny. I have crossed from one end to the other in less than an hour and nearly died by horseless carriage five times in about as many minutes. You do count in minutes still, correct? You count everything else, after all. But the point then is that the horseless carriages are reckless, inconsiderate and quite painful if you run afoul of them.

I would not recommend it, personally. Especially because your lives are so excruciatingly short as it is.

I think I should like a horse. Not as a pet, I have no use for such, as even though I may cross from one end of this village to the other by foot I see no point in doing it afoot if I might do it by horse instead.

By the way, the police were mostly helpful when I went to them. I'm not sure they really believed the extent of my injuries, since I don't have any sign of being injured anymore, but they said they'd look into it. I guess the thing is now to see whether or not they actually do or if they just brush it under the table.

Hello audience and fair-weather friends!

I don't actually like repeating myself. I only do it to annoy George and even then it loses its appeal when she reduces herself to eye rolling and physical abuse (don't you worry, I hit back). That said, there's a whole bunch of new people popping up--hello welcome to small town insanity I've got first class tickets on the crazytrain heading to crazytown--and there's some minor details I wanna air out for you. Mostly because it's easier this way and it'll save my sister a whole lot of effort explaining to you new comers.

George, myself, Daryl, Beth, Carol and Buffy are what amounts to walking corpses. Pretty neat, huh? Don't suck all the fun out of it though by making it more complicated than it actually is.

We're future zombies. All six of us. We're talking flesh eating undead that when you shoot us the first time we're going to get back up and require you to shoot us a second, third, and if you really suck at aiming, a fourth time before we stop moving. So the general advice is don't kill the walking biological weapons because it's going to end badly for everyone.

I don't know the sciencey terms Daryl, Beth, and Carol have for their particular zombie AIDs, but George, Buffy and I have a thing called Kellis-Amberlee. Basically what that means is that a filovirus is sitting in us, dormant, waiting for its chance to hip-check our brains out of control and make us start munching on neighbors and the neighbor's dogs and shit. There are a few ways for that to happen: we'll die, the disruption of our nervous system will cause the dormant virus to activate, or we'll come into contact with the live virus. The only way for that second option to happen is if George miraculously starts shedding eye goo, but since she's got zombie eyes that isn't happening. See her for details on Retinal KA. However, we'll also go into amplification--re: zombification--if we experience physical trauma.

In short, we're toxic and killing us, Daryl, Beth and Carol is a very bad idea. It's also a very bad idea to touch our blood or other bodily fluids at any time. All you need to become infected is by coming into contact with micron levels of our fluids that fit into a space smaller than this period .

Lastly, if we tell you to shoot us, you shoot us.

I've been walking the potential patrol routes these past few nights to get an idea of things. Tonight I was followed by one of their lawmen - proper obvious about it he was, too!

'Course, I only walked then to one of those 24-hour stores and back. But what it tells us is that we'll need to be right careful.

I found the soundtrack, and read the script, and I think I'll be trying out for Tony.

I can't decide what I find worse: That I'm considering settling in Madison Valley for the long term, or that the city is not functionally allowing that to happen.

It all feels like a farce, we're only pretending. I understand. This isn't my home, and in a year if I'm here it still won't be.

I've come up with an idea. I don't know if it's a good idea, but it is an idea.

Would it be possible for us to put together some kind of orientation for new arrivals? This would serve us well in two ways:

1) It might prevent jumping to conclusions and misunderstandings like we've seen in the most recent days.

2) It gives some people something to do instead of sitting back and waiting for something bad to happen. If they're working on something constructive for our community then they might have less time to think up all kinds of bad situations.

Scorpius was out looking for a place to take Lily Luna to. He figured maybe something normal like a date would ease their trepidation about this place. At least for a little while. He had to scope it out because really, he didn't know what was around town too much spending more time out of it. Or rather the important parts like shops.

He saw a few nice little places he would go in and check out. Of course they knew he wasn't from there so he got odd looks. He was used to those really, but he was trying to find a somewhat friendly place. Eating with people staring could get uncomfortable.

Looks like a bunch of people arrived overnight.

Are there any theories of why some days bunches of people arrive, and on other days none at all?

This wasn't the Mystic Grill, but it would have to do. He needed some sort of place he could go, mix in with the crowd. Luckily he already fed, so that wouldn't be an issue. No tonight, he was simply a man out to have a few drinks. His drink of choice as always was whiskey. He liked the slow burn of it, and it did help to appease some of his bloodlust. However if he had been hungry, well not even all the whiskey the bar had would satiate that.

He turned and looked around, studying the people here. Trying to discern those who were dangerous and who weren't. It wasn't like he was going to go vamp out in the middle of the bar, but it was something he was always wondering when he was out and about moving through the town.

Tobias needed to just get away, get out for a little. The longer he was here, the longer he worried about things back home. Don't get him wrong, he was happy as a clam that Tris was here. Yet with everything going on with the council, it was hard to even feel at ease about anything. He was constantly on guard, wanting to protect Tris (even if she could take care of herself) and he didn't sleep much. If at all some nights. Tonight was one of those nights so he went out for a walk.

He had no rhyme or reason of where he was going, he was simply...walking. Unsure of what to do, he did know one thing. He loved Tris and she was here.

When I said I would leave town, this isn't what I had in mind.

Am I alone here?

I've been thinking a lot over the past few days. Some things Georgia said really stuck with me and now after the violence at the theater I think-

That's not what Kenzo Yagai would do. That's not what my daddy would do. It's giving in, and that's not right. Not in my timeline when the anti-genemod people try to wreck things, and not in this one where anti-refugee people do the same thing.

So I'm going to pitch my stall where I want and I'm going to make all the money I need and I'm not going to let them scare me into hiding in a church for as long as I'm here. Because I deserve better than that.
