Next week marks two years that I have been sober, not counting the week that I was a teenager. I didn't use that as an excuse to keep drinking, when I got back to myself, so. Two years sober it is. I am kind of proud of myself, no even going to lie.

I was having a discussion yesterday, and I think it's important to note that love comes in many forms. Not all love is romantic or sexual, and this does not make it any less valuable or any less satisfying.

Just because you happen to be single on Valentine's Day doesn't mean it has to suck, or you have it.

Celebrate love. Celebrate your friends, your siblings, your family.

Love is about so much more than who is sleeping with who.

_mizpah

I have been in Madison Valley nearly two and a half years now. I have met many people, learned many things. My life has changed so very much since my arrival here that I am not certain that I would recognize myself.

This time of year, when there is so much shopping, and so much emphasis on giving and receiving, I think it would be good to stop and think of what we are truly thankful for. To concentrate on the wonderful things we have rather than the things we wish to receive.

For me, I am grateful for my health, for Will and Tessa, and for gelato, which is a wonderful treat that I had never experienced before coming here.

I would love to hear everyone else's, if you would like to share.

Santana had the morning off. No classes, no school and no obligations. So she knew she needed to get on the ball and get shopping done sooner rather than later. Papers were going to be due, work at Verdant may pick up and she couldn't sit around. She had chosen to go for the smaller mom and pop stores first, hoping that a few of them could cover most of her shopping needs. With a still warm cup of coffee in her hands, she had browsed two stores before slowly talking to the sidewalk again to get to the next store. She enjoyed the cooler weather as it allowed her to have a lot of fun layering clothes and even getting to wear her boots more.

She reached to open the door of the next store at the same time as someone else did from the other side. She pulled back. "Sorry" she said. "I didn't see you there"

I think this time of year, it’s important to remember that there are those who can’t afford to celebrate as we do. Or those who have suffered a profound loss, or any other sort of hardship.

Part of the spirit of the season is not only to receive, but to give.

Thanksgiving isn't a holiday we celebrate in England, but I think the idea behind it is a good one.

We all have something to be grateful for, and I think it's good for us to take a day and concentrate upon that.

Myself, I am thankful for Will and Tessa, and for this place, which restored me to health. I hope that I will never have to leave Madison Valley.

The street has been closed off for the music festival. People have brought their blankets and claimed prime places by the stage. It's a lovely fall day, the weather's cool but not cold, and there's a lot of sunshine to make things that much more pleasant. Beth and her helpers have decorated the stage and the area around it with pumpkins and scarecrows and and autumn harvest theme. Food trucks line the street selling every conceivable cuisine.

If you haven't yet signed up to perform, you still can. The music will start at noon and will go until Midnight, come find a place and enjoy a beautiful day of music by the river!

It seems like our living arrangements are not as uncommon in Madison Valley as they once were.

I am by no means judging, but I am very interested to know what is still considered sexually taboo in the 21st century. Many things that were not accepted in my time are commonplace here. It is one of the most difficult things for me to get used to. The Victorian era was not particularly known for its openness to such things.

As constricting as this town can sometimes be, it is a beautiful place.

I don't think I realized just how beautiful until I sat at the top of the Ferris Wheel with Tessa.

The river and the lights sparkled, and I realized how incredibly lucky I've been to be here like this, with the two people I love most.

So...who has ideas where I can work if I have to bring a toddler talking tree with me? Because holy shit Groot so can't be left alone on his own for more than five minutes. I mean he almost burned the apartment building down by putting a bunch of paper and shit in the oven. I thought about trying to get a job at the gun shop but heh, Groot, guns. Same thing with construction. And pretty much anywhere I considered.

But if I don't get some sort of job I'll be living in a box soon.

Then Groot will probably burn that down.

My father was a good man. I was very young when he died, and my memories of it still haunt me to this day. I wish I'd gotten to know him when I was a man, instead of just a boy.

I like to think that he would be proud of me.

I had an interesting conversation with a young girl that got me thinking about an important point.

Human beings - nay, life, really - is incredibly fragile. Ending it is incredibly easy. I know that many of us here are fighters of one sort or another, so perhaps you can weigh in on this.

Is it braver to kill or not to kill? Does it take more strength to find mercy? I would say that indeed it does.

To ease the worries of the employees and other interested parties, I am in the process of taking ownership of the gelato store. It is my intention to keep it operational and successful, even during the school year when my teaching begins. I also will be renaming the store to Anna's in memory of the beautiful young woman who gave me my footing here.
