Who: Everyone!
What: Halloween party
Where: A rented hall
When: October 31st!
Warnings | Status: TBD | On going | IC/OOC

Hey guys! This is the official Halloween party thread. You may tag into it ICly and interact with each other, or you may tag it OOC and just tell us what your character(s) did or are doing for the night. The hall was officially decorated by Caroline, there's food with the appropriate Halloween themes, music and general entertainment. Justine did also add in a gaudy Halloween sign that says 'Happy Birthday Harry' and there will be cake. There is a costume contest, I don't know how you guys want to decide who won that, but go for it and have fun! Justine is also personally greeting everyone and handing out bags of assorted candy.

Happy Halloween!

Also, by mod confirmation, this thread is worth 40 points!

Daryl had to admit that the idea of a party was a little weird. He hadn't even thought of parties in so long that he'd pretty much forgotten what they were, and the idea of being surrounded by people dressed like zombies (of which he was sure there would be at least a few), didn't strike him as particularly amusing.

But then, he wasn't just going to sit at home, and as nervous about large gatherings as his experiences of the last year had made him, he couldn't live like that in a place like this.

So he'd thrown on some green tights, a green tunic, and a pointy green hat; thrown his crossbow over his shoulder, and showed up as zombie-hunting Robin Hood. He'd grabbed a cup of punch, disappointed to find that it wasn't spiked, and leaned against the wall, covering his back as he always did.

Shaun was not accustomed to crowds in a natural sense. Living in a world where humans were simultaneously afraid to gather in numbers and be alone meant that they had issues with socializing. But he was an Irwin and trained to dive head first into weird situations, and of the two Masons, Shaun was the more gregarious one.

One of them had to be, after all.

Lingering close enough to George then, to intercept possible attempts of physical interaction beyond George's comfort zone, Shaun made the universal sign language for zombies --arms straight forward--and shambled toward Daryl, moaning.

"Braaaaains." He was dressed as a zombie, a really tacky zombie but what were you going to do?

Tris had never been to a Halloween party before -- she had only learned what it was by doing research -- and she had certainly never dressed up in a costume before. (Dressing up in Amity clothes to escape Dauntless Traitors and Erudite did not count as it had been a matter of life or death in that case.) Since there was going to be such a big group, she didn't feel safe going completely without a weapon, so she wanted a costume that a weapon would blend right in with. She didn't want to go as a hunter or someone called Robin Hood because she didn't know how to use a bow, yet. The pirate seemed too revealing from what she saw in the town's stores.

This would be how she ende dup dressing up as the Tin Woodsman. Yes, the ax was indeed real. The costume didn't really allow for blending into the woodwork as it was very shiny, but she thought it was cute and it wasn't too revealing.

When she saw Daryl, she went over to him with a smile that showed exactly how uncomfortable parties made her. "Hey."

Karrin hadn't been sure what kind of a costume to wear to this party. She wasn't much one for the "sexy french maid" sort of costume, and dressing up like monsters had become a little too real for her taste.

So she'd dug her akido uniform out of her closet (she wasn't sure why it had shown up, of all things, but it had), she'd given herself a pedicure, since she'd be barefoot once she got there, and made her way to the hall.

Of course, she also hadn't forgotten Harry's birthday, and in the large bag she'd brought with her (holding, among other things, her gun), was a wrapped package. It had taken her quite some time to decide what to get him, but she was pretty pleased with the result.

She looked around, trying to find people she knew. There were a lot of people here from their world, and she hadn't met them all in person yet.

It was odd for Cesare to celebrate this .. holiday. It was used by heathens in their festivals and turned into something else by Christians, but reducing one's self to begging for sweets wasn't what this was supposed to be. Was it? He didn't have enough cultural experience to comprehend what was happening, but as one of three representatives of the Refugee population, he felt it necessary to attend the event regardless.

Had there been a way to side step it and retain the good graces of the people he would have done so. But he was navigating new politics, new surroundings and a new world all at once. Things were different from home.

Though he didn't dress up. In fact, Cesare had merely removed the cleric's collar from his ensemble. He was dressed in black leather from head to food as usual, in the clothing he'd arrived in, giving him a very 16th century aristocratic look. Not a costume for him, but to others it would appear to be so. By day he was a cleric and by night, thus.

The appearance of others confounded him the most. The women were in various states of undress, and those that weren't stood out among the mass of half naked bodies. Cesare kept his eyes from wandering too much, but a short blonde woman gave him pause. One of the newer arrivals and familiar with local police force practices. Though to be honest it was her brief resemblance to Lucrezia that drew him toward her.

Cesare took two glasses of the sweetened drink--it wasn't wine by any means--and approached the woman, offering her one. "Karrin Murphy?" he asked gruffly, peering at her.

Molly had debated back and forth about going to this party. Parties were never good for her, she got overwhelmed by the emotion incredibly fast. Being in public at all wore her down quickly, and parties were always worse. But on the other hand, after spending a few weeks as the world's biggest bitch, she felt she needed to make an appearance and show that she was trying to redeem herself at least a little.

So she found a costume that amused her, and was sexy enough to please the Winter Lady inside her, put her blonde hair up and made her way to the hall, smiling as she stepped inside, bringing a benign rush of cold, and the icy clean smell of winter and snowflakes around her. She grinned at Justine, putting a hand on the punch bowl and chilling it a bit before taking a glass herself and sipping at it.

She started tapping her feet to the music, and before she knew it, she was dancing in a strange fae fashion that was both beautiful and sexy in a very alien manner.

Thomas had arrived early, and had helped Justine set up the hall before changing into his own costume. It had more fabric than he was used to wearing, but there was the chance that there could be children at this party, and he wasn't a total perv. Not when it came to kids, anyway. Still, even covered, he looked good. And he knew it. He had a jaunty smile on his face and his grey eyes twinkled in the lights. He kept watching the door for Harry, hoping he'd appear soon, and ready to go drag him here if he insisted on missing his own birthday party.

He was tapping his foot to the music, giving glances to Justine every once in a while, hopeful that he'd be able to get her to stop working and come dance with him.

"You should get to have fun too, you know."

"I am having fun," Justine chided Thomas. She smiled ruefully and nodded to Molly in passing as the girl chilled the punch bowl. That was a neat party trick, but she made no further note of it and simply turned toward Thomas. He was dressed conservatively for a Raith and for his own particular tastes; Justine appreciated it. She didn't begrudge his nature that drew attention to him, or the women that frequently threw themselves at him because of it, but it was nice to see him tone it down for the sake of others tonight.

"You can dance with someone else, you know," she said lightly, stepping away from the table holding the majority of their supplies for the evening.

Caroline had gotten to the venue as early as possible, making sure everything was perfectly set up and ready to go. Maybe she didn’t know many people and maybe she trusted even less people than she knew, but damn it she would make sure that people remembered the decorations and had a good time. If there was one thing Caroline Forbes was amazing at it was party planning and decorating and she was not about to let showing up in some brand new crazy town suddenly destroy any of that.

She was rocking it out in a Sleeping Beauty costume that she was never going to quite explain how exactly she got it. Thank god for compulsion.

Trusting people or not, she was going to mingle and meet as many as she could and if the party turned out to be a complete bore there was always the flash of gin she had hidden and accessible. So with her best beauty queen smile, she walked through the party, intent on talking to anyone and everyone.

Anna? Was not a happy camper. She still wasn't sure how Caroline had managed to talk her into this. She was pretty convinced that so many refugees being in one place at once was just inviting trouble. Not only that, but as she stepped inside, she felt like she was walking into the lion's den.

She and Caroline had however, thought along the same lines when it came to costumes. Anna, however, had chosen Snow White. And she wasn't intending on explaining how she got her costume, either. It wasn't like she had a lot of money, though she had saved most of what she'd been given when she first arrived in Madison Valley -- just in case. It felt like everything she did anymore was just in case.

Anna had to admit that the place looked amazing. Never let it be said that she didn't appreciate a well decked out party. Despite her nerves, she smiled at Caroline as she approached.

Marius had seen Valen settled before getting ready for the party. He'd made sure his vitals were even, that he had everything he could possibly need, and that he had a phone close by to call him if there were an emergency. He locked the door on his way out - for Valen's safety, only - he could still unlock the door easily from the inside - and made his way to the hall, which sparkled in the dark night with all the lights that Justine had put up.

He was wearing a costume that he was pretty sure would make his brother and sister (if they attended), beyond angry, but he didn't care. It was Halloween, and it was all about being someone you weren't, right?

He'd managed to get his hands on some fairy realistic Ravenclaw robes, and a wand, and had decided to go to the party as what he'd always wanted to be most - a wizard.

Stepping inside, he watched Molly dancing a few minutes (she was a lovely woman, no doubt of that), before making his way to the punch bowl to thank the hostess before making his way into the crowd. He hadn't gotten out as much as he would have liked, and he looked forward to meeting new people.

It was getting more and more crowded every morning, and he barely kept from spilling his drink as he backed into someone.

"Oh! Pardon me."

Molly was distracting as all hell. The Fae were meant to be beautiful, and they were breathtaking when they moved. She glided around with that alien grace and the flurry of colors that--

Oh! Pardon me. A British accented gentleman bumped into Dresden and Harry half turned to look at the dude, cracking a grin at the man's get up. Everyone loved the Harry Potter movies, but Harry didn't realize it was still a thing to go in costume as one of them. It probably wouldn't please the gang of Potter kids that had showed up, but what could you do? Halloween was the time you got to be politically incorrect and offend other nationalities and ethnic groups with crappy costumes.

Where was Ramirez with a sombrero? At least he'd have a sense of humor about it.

"Harry!" he said, "you're a wizard." Though Harry was the real wizard, and dressed up like he always was. Black leather duster and carrying his quarter staff. Though he added a hat, so he looked like he belonged on the set of El Dorado. He freaking hated hats.

From her vantage point at the edge of the room, near the door, it wasn't long at all before Cassiopeia spotted Marius, or rather, spotted a wizard bumping into Harry Dresden. It took her a moment longer to actually recognize him, make the connection, remember that seeing a wizard wasn't at all a regular occurrence here. Some people were in costume, after all.

He was wearing school robes. Ravenclaw robes. Oh, Marius. Perhaps Cassi should have been cross with him, or at the very least wonder what could possibly have possessed him to dress in such a way, but the truth was that it didn't strike her as irritating so much as terribly, terribly sad. He should have had a set of his own, at the proper time, not some tawdry muggle imitation. Cassi didn't think anyone would have even cared if he'd ended up in Ravenclaw and not the traditional Slytherin, if only he'd received the letter that should have been his birthright.

It wasn't fair to him. None of it was at all fair, but it was how things were. It wasn't for lack of effort on his part, she of all people knew that. He didn't want her pity, but in Cassi's mind the man across the room merged with the twelve-year-old boy back at home, and for a moment she couldn't help it. Tears welled up in her eyes, and it was then that Cassi turned away. Marius probably hadn't seen her, he was still talking to Mr Dresden, and she knew that she was being ridiculous. Weak. She couldn't afford that. Cassiopeia blinked to clear her eyes, reminded herself why she was there. It was a social occasion. She was putting in an appearance. If Marius wanted to dress like that it was for his own purposes and had nothing to do with her.

Max had debated for a long while what sort of costume he should wear to this party. He wasn't familiar with the Halloween holiday, but it seemed and enjoyable sort of thing. Max liked fun and it seemed like it would definitely be so. So with some of the money he had earned from the maps he'd sold, he'd managed to find a sort of silver paint that glowed very similar to the way the real things did, and with naught but a flesh-toned leotard between the paint and his skin, he'd painted gards on himself - the best he could remember from the few times he'd seen Valen since he'd embraced his Dané half. It was a tragedy that Valen was having one of his episodes and unable to see his ingenious costume, but perhaps he'd find it in his heart to stop by the clinic on the way home from the party, if his 'gards' hadn't all smeared.

He got a cup of punch and moved to the corner, making himself as inaccessible as possible. He really had very little desire to speak to ordinaries, no matter what this place had forced him to do to survive. He spoke to them, yes, when he had to, but it always put a terribly bad taste in his mouth and made him feel as if he needed a shower.

Sipping his punch, he looked around hopefully for Pollux or Cassi. They were young, but they were purebloods, and some of the only pleasant company in this place.

Ciel was not a very cordial person. Nor was he very interested in socializing. The times that he had attended social functions he usually kept to himself or played billiards with the gentleman and avoided the chattering women as much as possible--they always wanted to dance, and Ciel was not--could not--did not want to indulge them. But the reduced setting of this particular function left them in a hall with strange music, strange company and a pounding headache to compliment it.

But he was a citizen--a refugee if you wanted to be technical--all the same and so he thought it necessary to make an appearance. It was a show of solidarity, as even though he remained neutral in most matters, he did live among the community. His host family had helped with fixing his collars, buttons and his ties. As one of the upper class members of the English nobility, Ciel was hopelessly incapable of dressing himself. And Sebastian wasn't here to see to it, much to his displeasure.

Dressed then in a passably familiar attire, Ciel looked perfectly at ease with himself and his costume. Though he stood rigidly all the same, cane in hand and a little smile on his face. It was all a gimmick. But it was necessary to pretend for the evening that he was enjoying himself. He eyed the man lingering too close to himself and took a casual step away to further the distance. He wasn't wearing anything but paint. Endure it, Ciel, he thought to himself.

"I don't understand the nature of your costume," he said evenly.

Eärendil had not attended a ball in three ages, but still he could remember the glory of the chandeliers in Gondolin; a sight his mind's eye always showed him when he thought of how Arda Unmarred might have been. So he would not miss this ball, no matter how different it might have been, or how much the world might have changed since last he stepped foot on a dance floor.

He dressed in a formal manner, a shimmery silver-blue tunic over slightly deeper blue leggings, tied around the waist with a silver accented belt. His hair he kept short, but he brushed it neatly. Slipping into his boots of soft leather, he felt ready for anything the party had to offer.

When he reached the hall, he found himself shocked, even though he knew that this ball would be nothing like the ones he attended in Beleriand or in Gondolin. He stopped in the doorway, feeling quite out of place, and nearly turning to leave.

But he was not a coward, and his grey eyes wide and frightened, he stepped inside, his ears tipping slightly in his dismay.

Cassiopeia Black was at the muggles' Halloween party.

Oh, she'd declined the invitation, but for all the wrong reasons. Cassi was nervous. Cassi didn't like crowds of unfamiliar people. They weren't reasons at all, were they, only excuses. Her illness she might have used as a reason, had it hit her but a week later, but clearly that wasn't to be. The fact remained that this was the closest to a social event there had been since her arrival here, and it was important that she put in an appearance, even if she didn't stay long, regardless of whether she enjoyed it or wanted to be there.

The preparations had been enjoyable enough. Cassi was even pleased with the result. She wasn't going to wear some ridiculous muggle costume, so she'd dressed formally. Very formally, in her best dress here, the one Lucrezia Borgia had helped her design. It was cut a little more daringly than Cassi was used to, but she had to admit that once she'd pulled at the lacing enough it did wonders for her figure, and it was in the most delightful deep shade of green. Slytherin green, now that she thought on it, although she hadn't made the connection at the time. And the skirt was just long enough to trail a little, and she'd carefully arranged her hair and picked out some silver jewelry.

She stood now just inside the hall, watching people, seeing who was in attendance - and perhaps more notably, who was not, and staring at the very peculiar outfits most of them were wearing. Muggles were a strange lot.

Lily Luna hadn't been planning to dress in a costume for the party, but then she had found an absolutely amazing costume in one of the stores and she had fell in love with it. She wasn't sure who had designed it, but it seemed to her that the emblem of her House had been brought to life in dress form. It even included a copy of Lady Rowena's diadem -- which she knew had been destroyed in the great war. After talking to a seamstress, sheer sleeves with silver glitter had been added to it since Lily Luna wasn't comfortable in a strapless dress. The sleeves ended in points over the back of her hands and a ring of blue and silver feathers held them in place so they wouldn't slide up.

Once she put the costume on, she had been a little self-conscious over how much skin it revealed, but she couldn't deny that the silver bodice with the skirt of dark blue feathers looked good on her. It was a great deal more skin than she was used to showing, but it was nothing that was too revealing and it definitely wasn't something that could be worn often, but she loved it. She only hoped that Scorpius liked it as well -- and that it wouldn't offend Cassiopeia when her friend saw. It wasn't a lewd dress, but it was definitely different. Instead of wearing a mask or too much make-up, she carried a masquerade mask that matched her dress and the diadem perfectly. The costume was finished with a pair of silver cage sandals with a low heel.

Now, she was standing out of the way, twirling the stick of the mask in her nervous fingers.

Lissa had decided to go quite a bit more reserved and understated than she usually would during Halloween. The dress she chose to wear was simple and not at all like what she would have worn to parties like this back home. She left her hair down and only applied the lightest of make-up to her face. With the way she had been feeling all week, she probably should have stayed home, but since they were inviting the local townspeople to attend, she thought it would be a good idea for the representatives to make an appearance, as well.

Luckily, Christian was with her and as they entered the party to look around, Lissa clung to his arm with one hand. She could do this. She would do this. All she had to do was pretend it was one of those functions that royalty had to make appearances at back home. Those that didn't like the representatives or what she was wouldn't ruin her night.

Eric had requested that she dress up as a fairy and so that was what Sookie did. After all, he had agreed to wear a toga because she had suggested that he would look good in one. The outfit was a whole lot more revealing once it was one than it had seemed to be on the hanger. Apparently, people had forgotten that some girls were very well-endowed up at the top. For the hundredth time since they had been here, Sookie wished that Claudine was there to help with minor wardrobe malfunctions like she just knew she was going to have in this costume.

Of course, it was quite possible that when Eric saw her costume they wouldn't be at the party for very long. He was territorial, yes, but she would bet a year's worth of wages back home at Merlotte's that this costume was going to cause some intense reactions from other parts of her vampire lover, too.

Maybe she could find a nice pair of curtains to hide behind until Eric was ready to leave?

But no, Justine had gone to a lot of trouble to put on this party for everyone and Sookie was going to be there to show her support.

Perhaps from behind the table where no one could see just how much of her lower body was on display.

Mortals were very strange creatures, so for the most part Lindir avoided them. He had very minimal contact with them throughout the last millennium and never enough to truly understand the way they lived or what drove them. He was out of place, being a foot or more taller than most of them, and very much different.

They were all dressed gaily, more or less, though some of them looked terribly confused about the whole process and others looked uncomfortable in their own skin. What poor little creatures.. Lindir himself hadn't been in the village long enough to comprehend the nature of Halloween or the idea of dressing up. So he'd merely arrived as he normally would, dirty blonde hair unbound and falling to his shoulders--tucked haphazardly behind his pointed ears--with a loose white tunic and green leggings. His harp was in its case, strapped to his back.

He stood closer to the middle of the hall, watching a female twirl around in what she must believe to be a dance. Magic didn't work on elves therefore Lindir saw through the glamor and spied an ordinary girl beneath the haze of her ... disguise. "Valar," he said aloud, looking left with a contemptuous cock of his brow. "She's not very good at dancing, is she?"

After talking with both Caroline and Sookie, Anna made her way to the table of food and drinks. She poured herself a glass of punch and lifted it to her lips, taking a sip, careful not to spill on her dress. Despite the fact that she hadn't dressed up for Halloween in a few decades, she actually really liked the dress, and so far, the party wasn't as bad as she'd anticipated.

She leaned against the table, her mind flashing back to the one dance she had gone to in recent years. A dance at Mystic Falls High School, where Jeremy had been serving drinks. A tiny sad smile touched her mouth at the memory and she sighed softly before taking another drink, eyes scanning the crowd for other familiar faces -- people she'd either met before or people she was deliberately avoiding for safety reasons.

The other girls and women seemed to be going for pretty or sexy (with maybe one or two exceptions), but Georgia Mason passed those ideas and went straight into 'tacky'. Because there really was no other term for dressing up as a zombie when you were one. So she'd bought a man's suit (ignoring the disapproving looks of the workers of the establishment) and, working the sunglasses to her advantage, had made herself into a zombified Secret Service agent. Which, considering what'd been going on during the campaign, was probably even more tacky, but nobody here would care.

She'd never been to a large gathering like this without it having some sort of serious purpose, and Georgia kept her hands in her pockets. The costumes didn't faze her; she'd seen more outrageous things, but she grinned at Random's.

Maybe she'd feel less tense if she ate or drank something. Probably not, but she made her way over anyway because hey - free Coke. She grabbed a can -

and jumped what felt like 10 feet in the air when she felt someone brush past her, whirling around and pressing herself back against a wall before relaxing slightly. Only slightly.

"Sorry," The apology was gruff, "My fault."

Oliver had briefly considered attending the costume party as Robin Hood. It had been his go-to costume for a few years now when it came to Halloween parties. But he didn't want anyone to associate him with archery because when he started going out as Green Arrow, there was a much better chance that someone in this small town would put two and two together. He didn't have the advantages here that he did at home. He couldn't hide behind society's disbelief of a billionaire moonlighting as a vigilante superhero ever being possible. No one here even knew he was a billionaire.

And when he arrived at the party wearing a doctor's scrubs, he was glad he hadn't chosen Robin Hood, because someone else already beat him to the punch. So much the better for him, really. Hopefully the guy was popular enough that people would recognize him and suspect him instead of Oliver.

He hadn't been in this place for long, but he knew that people were jumpy. Suspicious. He wanted to blend in, assimilate. He didn't want anyone to suspect that he was playing hero at night when it was time -- and that time was quickly approaching. He'd already made a replica of his uniform from home. But finding a voice distorter in this place wasn't as easy as it was in Metropolis or Star City. Which meant he was going to have to make one of his own. He could do it, but he wasn't as proficient when it came to electronic devices as Vic was. Man, he missed Vic.

He'd get by though. He always did.

Oliver smiled at people as he moved through the crowd, trying his best to place faces from the forums online.

The last thing that Stefan wanted to do was come to the Halloween party. Actually, the last thing he wanted was to be here in general, but he figured that was everyone else's thought naturally. But, he did tell Caroline that no only would he show up, he would help her set up. Which he did and now he was keeping up the other half by standing across the room and watching them.

Some would call it stalking, but no, he was just watching. The three of them were in their Disney costumes. It was kinda nice. Stefan however, did not dress up, which he guessed would ruin whatever the fun was, but he was more here watching over them than anything else.

He was still wrapping his head around everything and with talking to his brother briefly, Elena and Klaus, he knew that things were forever changed. There wasn't really any confirmation and then again, he never asked. He didn't want to, he didn't want to know. Not yet. Not that it would have mattered because he knew. He knew that Elena chose his brother. He knew that Elena was in love with his brother. But, he also knew he would take her back in a heartbeat. Yeah, he didn't want to think about that right now.

Glancing over, he watched Caroline, Elena and Anna laughing and having their own fun and he sighed, turning away from them and walking around the party, overhearing conversations and getting a feel for the people of Madison Valley.

He had to start somewhere.
