I realize we haven't actually met yet, but I've spent the last few hours reading over these forums and thought I should introduce myself. I'm Oliver Queen.

And it seems the two of you presented an idea recently that maybe we could discuss.

Is that so, sai? Long days and pleasant nights to you, then. If you'll talk, I'm listening.

The two of you were wanting to start a kind of defense force, yes? I was involved in something similar at home. What did you have in mind, specifically?

There's no call for such a thing now, mark it. If we were to start such a force it would have to be proper secret and that would mean not starting it a scant few days after the idea was so soundly rejected by folk.

If there were to be anything. If there were, sai, it'd be only those we could trust involved in it. So afore I talk specifics, tell me what you did at home. For I am interested to hear, say true.

Complete secrecy is how it worked at home, too.

All right. At home, I was part of an unnamed group of individuals who were specially equipped to help people. One of the men at home can hack into any kind of network on the planet. Another was one of the best swimmers you'd ever meet. I used archery. That's my specialty.

We patrolled different areas, keeping our eyes open for trouble. Usually that was robberies, muggings, car theft, etc. If we saw it, we interrupted and eliminated the threat -- by that I mean we tied up the bad guy and left them for the police to find.

You served the White, then - you worked to protect civilization and uphold the Law. To be sure we're thinking along the same lines, or at least we would have been. Roland's original idea I reckon wouldn't have been too far different in its realization.

Only would I be right in guessing your group operated out of a city? It's not so easy here to protect our own and keep it secret, not when they know who we are and have stated they don't want our protection. Patrolling would be too obvious and then some, and striking at the Council itself would annoy Georgia something terrible not be the best of ideas at this point in time.

I reckon we have to prepare to keep people safe, but hold off on action until something bad enough happens that we'll not be turned in by our own people for responding to it. Which I know is fair reactionary and not the best of strategies but I'm not at present finding better, we're at too much of a disadvantage.

We can train at the Railroad cut. It's a proper fine place.

Aye, we can do that.

Have you any better thoughts on the organization of this? We've got Sai Dixon to stand with us when it counts, although not before then.

I'd have it organized in the proper way, ka-tet as much as we can.

It'll have to be done in stealth, so that they don't raise a fuss about it.

Aye, we'll need secrecy, else we'll have the Council to deal with and that'll make the situation right messy. We don't take them on except at our instigation.

So that means we're not to trust their representatives with a word of it. Not even Sai Cesare, though it pains me to say it. Their loyalties are going to be problematic.

Roland:

I'll not claim ka-tet with strangers, Roland. Be wary on that, and of trusting too soon. If it's truly ka that they stand with us, we'll know it in time, and then we'll think on it, but not to begin with.

I'll not say a word to any of them. I don't talk to them much anyway, so I don't. Although I don't understand why they're against us.

Cuthbert:

That's why I said as much like as possible, say true. I'll not trust him until he shows his worth. And as for ka, there'll be water if God wills it.

Nor do I, but I'm doing as I can to keep suspicion from us. I've had trouble with the lawmen of this place once and I'll not have it again.

Aye, I understand that well enough. We'll wait and see how it turns out.

Yes, we did. Although technically what we were doing is illegal -- it was still for the betterment of society. The police just can't be everywhere. I kind of suspected you guys were thinking along the same line.

Several cities, really. And no, it won't be as easy here to keep things a secret. But they don't know who I am, and maybe that can be worked to our advantage. I agree about not striking out at the Council. That seems too extreme at this point, though I've read some things about people being drugged in order to get blood samples. That's very unsettling, to say the least.

What do you have in mind for preparing?

They can't be everywhere and in this place we can't presume that they'll deal fairly with us or that they'll believe what we have to say. They're not corrupt, as far as I'm aware, but they are ignorant.

They don't know you or aught of your involvement, that's true. And if there's any patrolling to be done in future and we keep it to nights then I'll not be so easily recognizable, neither.

We won't strike at the Council unless it's proper necessary and we've got a good enough chance of success. So not yet.

We've started preparation already - Roland's found a training-ground, and I've surveyed the area, taken maps and marked out places and routes of interest. We've got weapons and ammunition both.

Yes, exactly.

I was planning to start patrolling this week. I don't do well with idle hands.

Good, we're in agreement there, too.

Excellent. I definitely would like to look over your maps if you wouldn't mind, even though I do want to survey the whole place for myself so I'm familiar with it. I already bought a crossbow. Is the training ground equipped for archery, as well?

You might start this week, aye. One of us needs to keep a watch on the area near where Sai Fix was attacked, for one thing. And don't we have these phones? If there's signs of trouble, the one of us who spots it can call for the others, right quick.

I'll give you copies of the maps, so I will, though you're right to say it's no substitute for walking the place yourself. And you should be fine with your crossbow, we can make adjustments as needed. It'll be useful, say true. Sometimes a gun is that bit too loud. I've a slingshot for such purposes.

Do we know where he was attacked? I didn't see a location given. And yeah, the phones are good for just that -- calling for needed backup.

Thank you, that'll be great. I'll spend the next couple of days scouting the town.

But just so we're clear -- you don't shoot to kill unless it's absolutely necessary, right?

Aye, he told Cassi Black it was outside the theater where they show the moving pictures. I'm not paying more attention to her writings that others, am I? It's just...being aware.

We don't have the phones or aught like them at home. They'll make things easier.

Gods, no! I don't shoot at all where it's not necessary, sai. That's not my purpose. I stand for what's right, not for senseless violence.

Got it.

Yeah, communication is a key component to patrolling where I'm from.

I didn't think so, honestly, but I wanted to be certain we were all on the same page here.

Likewise, to you.

Experience has taught me not to dismiss anyone without pretty good reason. And I have no reason to.

They've all seemed to think my age is reason enough, so they have.

I'm fourteen, aye, I'll not dispute it, but I'm a fully tried gunslinger.

Sorry to hear that.

Age doesn't matter to me as much as experience. One of my teammates was 16 when we started the team.

I haven't fully decided, yet. At home I patrolled nightly, mostly from rooftops unless something was actively happening on the ground. It's easier to stay hidden at night and up high. No one thinks to look up, you know?

What about you? What are you thinking?

Training, patrolling perhaps. Although if they see us, they could be right angry with us, because many of the influential ones have made it clear they don't want us doing this. But I'd rather be in their poor graces than be burying them when trouble happens.
