I know there are a lot of holidays and exciting things in May for most people around here. This year there's something for the local Muslims, too.

Lunar calendar. Ours change a lot.

Starting at sundown this coming Sunday, we'll all be observing the holy month of Ramadan. Which means we'll be fasting. There's only the three of us but that can actually make it harder so on behalf of my very small congregation I'd like to ask everyone to be patient if we get a little hangry.

As the night where we say a formal goodbye to winter, and say hello to true spring, draws closer, I recall the many events of my past, and that of my gods. We reach the mid-point between the two solstices, and the land is ready for the sowing of crops.

Several days back my wife came home going on about fictional accounts of people's lives. Fans fiction or something she called it. And naturally I had to investigate a little.

I can't say I don't regret it but it's been several interesting discoveries and questions. Like why are people seemingly obsessed with making me a muggle? When no one else is even! And sadly popular is making me sleep with my best mate. Who is both my favourite person and a terrible human being and most definitely has not been blessed with the right parts for that.

Passing my wife around to all my mates has come up several times. Definitely opposed to that one.

I would have thought my fans had better taste.

It has been brought to my attention that there have been some misconstrued discussions revolving around mistletoe and everything it stands for.

Allow me to properly educate those of you who may be questioning this finicky piece of flora found on this great earth.

You see, while it can be pesky for humans and dangerous for animals, it's not meant to be consumed! Why would you think to eat it in the first place?

No, no.

I happen to be an expert on this topic as I am quite familiar with Baldr and Frigg and the mistletoe arrow and the creation of the berries that brought the very handsome and beloved Baldr back to life. It's the better version of the story, so best not to bore yourself looking up the alternate versions. Although, it was still not okay and Loki owes me another lifetime of drinks for that stunt.

wit_and_sword

The term ends Friday, but my last examination is tomorrow. Actually, it is not really an examination in the true sense, but rather a paper that is due and I have just completed and waiting to turn it in.

Goodness, I had no idea it was possible for a person's brain to feel strained from overwork. If I must collect and correlate for a paper or examination, it will not be for awhile.

Once my shift is done, I plan to do nothing for the weekend except to watch terrible, horror movies. The sort with zero plot and a good deal to poke fun at. Just something to give my brain a break from study and research.
