Tobias was trying to get some familiar ground here in Madison. He needed something that was familiar and safe, not just for him but for Tris as well. He'd found a cave, one that went down into the ground and he'd been taking things there slowly. He felt more at ease there, it reminded him of Dauntless caves. The place he had finally felt free from everything. That had been home and with the shake-up from where he was from plus ending up here, he needed security. Sure it may seem weak, perhaps even unDauntless yet he was a little of every faction. Divergent, maybe this was just simply a Divergent thing to do.

Now however he was out, moving through the trees gathering some things he knew they could rat. With not giving blood, well there was no job and he was managing by buying a bare minimum and searching for everything else. He heard a sound and feared it was the council coming for him so he crouched down and waited, but not without a twig snapping and falling to the ground. He watched the man come into view, it wasn't someone he knew, or even seen yet. Not that he knew of anyway, it was hard to see from this vantage point.

Crashing into a tree in a jeep? Leaves one with a concussion and very vivid but strange hallucinations.

Tobias needed to just get away, get out for a little. The longer he was here, the longer he worried about things back home. Don't get him wrong, he was happy as a clam that Tris was here. Yet with everything going on with the council, it was hard to even feel at ease about anything. He was constantly on guard, wanting to protect Tris (even if she could take care of herself) and he didn't sleep much. If at all some nights. Tonight was one of those nights so he went out for a walk.

He had no rhyme or reason of where he was going, he was simply...walking. Unsure of what to do, he did know one thing. He loved Tris and she was here.

As places to visit, small towns are useless in the extreme - there's nothing like stepping off a train and being able to see the entire universe of your day's possibilities (and not impressive possibilities, either) to make one despair of a day in the country. As places to live, in my very minimal experience, they're a little better. Cambridge hardly counts, perhaps, as I mostly shut myself up in its very limited world, and it's no more a town than a doghouse is an inn.

As places to be confined, they're quite on the luxurious side of things. In a few minutes I'd know a cell like the back of my hand; this place has taken me a few weeks. And, it should be added, occasionally decides to be damned peculiar.

Still, the phrase climbing the walls leaps to mind.

I am *not* going to go and give them blood. I wouldn't let them stick me with a needle before and I sure as hell am not, now.

Don't go to that office and give them your blood and everything. They're saying it's for employment purposes, but they want us to go to school, not to work. They've got no cause to come after us, if the reasons they're giving are legitimate.

If they do? That tells us something. Something we need to know for sure.

Some of the adults are going to be scared about their jobs and they're going to comply - but we can take a stand for them.

Attention Refugees!

As many of you do not have Social Security Numbers, or other means of identification, we would like each of you to come by the Clerk's office and fill out some paper work. We will be taking fingerprints, a blood sample, pictures, and asking some information about you, to keep on record.

If you do not come to the Clerk's office and register, you will be unable to find employment in the town, as this information is now required for payroll.

Also, we are aware that there are many of you who are here from the past, and perhaps from the future. We would like you to come by the Madison Valley Clinic at once, meet with a doctor, and receive the proper vaccinations to keep disease from spreading through the community.
