As always, I hope this letter finds you in good health. I know the years must be taking their toll on you by now, but you are always kept in my prayers. You must, Alfred, keep in high spirits at least so long as it takes for you to respond to this letter. My wife and I have been travelling quite extensively since the last we saw one another, and I look forward to telling you everything we have seen and learned when our paths next cross.
Which, I am glad to announce, seems to be upon us in the very near future. As I write, Zari and I are only a short ride from your fair town, stopping only for the nearest post office. I hope it is a fair town, at least; it certainly seems it from everything you've written to me regarding it. Though our schedule can be busy, and there is so much more of this continent for us to see, so many peoples for us to meet yet, I had hoped we would be able to stop in Madison for a spell. I have already managed to secure for us a room at your local hotel, quite the feat I do not hesitate to tell you, I had quite the trouble sending word ahead of us, not knowing where we would be by the time a response came to us.
I truly hope this letter finds you before I do myself. Wouldn't it be the funniest thing if I were to arrive first? I'm sure your heart, my dear friend, would not be able to take such a shock.
Of course once we've arrived I will have word sent again. It will be wonderful to see you again and truly catch up with the last months.
