Hey, everyone.

My name's Peeta Mellark, and I wasn't in the best shape when I got here didn't greet all of you as I should have.

When we introduce ourselves at the games

So, I guess what would be interesting to know, since we're all from different places - what's the thing that's most different between this place and your home?

For me, there's so much food, and everyone has so much money. My father owned the bakery in our town, but I could hardly ever afford cookies or cakes, because the cost of sugar was so high. But here, I see kids coming in the morning before school every day and buying two or three doughnuts. It's crazy.

So, what about everyone else?

Whoa, this isn't even America anymore, man. At least not a civilized America because what exists between California and New York? Besides a whole bunch of corn.

How about my place tonight? Drinks and pizza and holovids?

So, it's pretty obvious that a lot of us have wildly different opinions about what's appropriate to post on the network and what isn't. Obviously we can't please everyone, but maybe we could come to some sort of agreement on what should and shouldn't be posted on the network (at least without an Over 18 filter)?

These are my suggestions, but feel free to offer your own.

Please Filter the Following to People Over the Age of 18
1. Graphic talk of sex.
2. Requests for sex.
3. Complaints about lack of sex.

Anything else? This isn't telling anyone they can't talk about this stuff, just trying to make everyone a bit more comfortable.

Alright, girls. Georgia tells me that our variety in sex toys leaves much to be desired here. So, I'm going to be making a line of my own. And trust me, they'll be good. So if you'd be interested, just send me a message here (private if you're shy), and I'll get you taken care of.

Also, since Georgia reminded me, I'll just put it out there for everyone. Don't sleep with us. There's at least a decent chance you'll turn into a zombie if you do. We're all infected, even though it's dormant. That's me, Georgia, Shaun, Daryl, Carol and Beth. No matter how hot we are (and we are), keep it in your pants.

That said, computers are fun. Who wants to see me naked?

Hello everyone! New Arrivals, welcome to Madison Valley. For those of you who don't know, my name is Justine and I work as a secretary in City Hall. I'm from Chicago 2007.

So here's a few things, 1 and 2 are for new arrivals and 3 is for everyone:

1. I'm making a roster for those who are looking for work but are having a hard time finding it on their own. Please sign up, and I will get back to you all at the same time when I have more information.

2. If any of the new arrivals are from a pre-Industrial or post-Industrial society, I encourage you to attend classes I hold throughout the week. We'll focus on teaching you some necessary survival skills in the 21st century. They happen on Tuesdays and Thursdays as needed, from 6:30 to 7:30. Thomas and I also hold a sex education class and we cover topics as needed and new sexually transmitted diseases found here that you may or may not be aware of in and from your respective timelines. If you have any questions about sex or sexually based concerns please do ask us, we encourage communication.

3. I thought we'd celebrate Thanksgiving with a potlock. If anyone's interested in doing that we can, otherwise enjoy the holidays with your respective friends and family. But, that also made me realize that we're sticking to very American holidays, and if there's anything any of the non-Americans want to celebrate, we should do that too.

Thank you!

WHO: Dean Winchester and Random Dent
WHAT: Match-up!
WHERE: Around the barrier
WHEN: Friday night
STATUS: Ongoing
WARNINGS: TBD

Dean was still wondering what episode of the Twilight Zone he walked into. He hadn't stopped by to see Jo yet, it was too damn weird to do so. It had been awhile for him since she died, but seeing her here? It was like ripping a bandage off a still open wound. All that guilt had bubbled back up, he hadn't been able to keep her safe. He'd lost both her and Ellen that day. It was like losing more of his family, nevermind the almost undeniable attraction between him and Jo. He had tried to push that away, because yes he had feared her shotgun toting mother. Hell what hunter in their right mind hadn't feared that woman? She was majorly scary.

To distract himself from the inevitable having to see Jo face to face he was walking just along the perimeter of the town and the barrier. That is when he found himself surprised to see a woman tossing rocks at the barrier. Well if that wasn't boredom, he didn't know what was. Unless she was trying to do some scientific bullshit that went above his brainwaves. He made a slow approach because in his line of work there was one thing he had learned. Never walk up on someone without being careful because you never know what you are walking up on. Oh he was looking for signs of a demon or something else. He might even have muttered something in Latin. If he had holy water on him and a knife he may have gone through all the tests he could.

"Hello."

Smooth Winchester, SMOOTH.

I read back a bit that somebody posted a few weeks back about what the things are that we miss here the most.

I was thinking, it being November, and the month of Thanksgiving and all, that maybe we should tweak that a little, and think instead about the things here that we're most grateful for. There's got to be something we like about this place, no matter how little it is? A person we have here that we don't have back home. Something we don't have to face here...something that just brightens our day a little.

It's not been easy for any of us, being pulled out of our homes and brought to this place, but maybe by thinking of something good that's happened to us since we've been here, we can kind of pull together? Or maybe that's just sunny Summer thinking.

Anyway.

I'm grateful for Lily, and I love Hinkleburgers.

Who: Everyone!
What: Halloween party
Where: A rented hall
When: October 31st!
Warnings | Status: TBD | On going | IC/OOC

Hey guys! This is the official Halloween party thread. You may tag into it ICly and interact with each other, or you may tag it OOC and just tell us what your character(s) did or are doing for the night. The hall was officially decorated by Caroline, there's food with the appropriate Halloween themes, music and general entertainment. Justine did also add in a gaudy Halloween sign that says 'Happy Birthday Harry' and there will be cake. There is a costume contest, I don't know how you guys want to decide who won that, but go for it and have fun! Justine is also personally greeting everyone and handing out bags of assorted candy.

Happy Halloween!

Also, by mod confirmation, this thread is worth 40 points!

I need to get off this planet.

Like, now.

I need my spaceship and I need my medkit and I need to get out of here. Seriously. Now.

[info]karrinmurphysi

Looks like a bunch of people arrived overnight.

Are there any theories of why some days bunches of people arrive, and on other days none at all?

[info]the_mariner

Ah, how precious it is to find the earth under my fingers again, and to set my boots on Arda's shores. Lovely - and yet I fear it a fell thing that I find myself here.

This place is naught like anything I have ever looked upon in all of Arda, and I have seen not just the lands of Middle Earth, but the hallowed shores of the Undying Lands.

Please, where am I? They told me Madison Valley, and Indiana, but I know not of these places.

It's too damn sunny. Also, why couldn't we have been stuck somewhere interesting?

Shaun:

I don't want to deal with today. Where are my big meds?

Random:

Hey, could I talk to you about some things at some point?

No Council

So there are a lot of us here now.

And there's been a great deal of focus on our differences, the things we don't like about each other, the things we fear about each other and the council.

But what there hasn't been is much discussion about things we may have in common. Things we may have in common include missing people or things from back home. Here's my challenge to you: what do you miss most about home?

I miss my mother.

I have an important announcement to make!

Coke is better than Pepsi. I've consumed enough of both now to know for sure.

Probably a bad idea, though. The computers at home probably can't handle creating it. My father told me the story of how he very nearly broke one of them trying to get Earth tea.

I'd try Earth tea here, but when I looked there were so many different kinds and I have no idea which one he meant.

Let's have a discussion.

Roland seems to have touched a nerve, so I'm officially asking everyone here:

1.) Do you feel unsafe? If so, who/what group are you worried about?
2.) If you do, why? Please mention whether or not this feeling is colored by previous experiences in your own timelines.
3.) What are some ideas you have for alleviating this problem, that you think could be implemented? We all have ideal solutions, but let's focus on pragmatics.

If you don't feel comfortable addressing some of these questions publically, feel free to either tell me privately in some way or say you don't feel comfortable. It's fine, but if you don't say anything at all, even to abstain from answering, we can't know your thoughts and consider them.

In terms of ideas, so far there's been Roland's suggestion of a protective force (which I object to, but I'm one vote). I'd also like to suggest the idea of escorting people, or setting up checks of some sort within the community for those who are interested.

How about some snow?

[info]random_dent

List of problems with this planet. Note: this is not an exhaustive list.

1. Can't find my spaceship. Can't find a replacement spaceship
2. No robots
3. No Sub-Etha Net. 'Internet' is boring and 2D
4. 'Computers' are practically stone age
5. Lots of humans are annoying
6. No way of getting to Islington
7. Can't find the Guide
8. Gravity's on all the time
9. The sun's still following me
10. No Fanallan rum or splagberry sauce

List of good things about this planet:

1. Coca-Cola
2. Other humans who aren't related to me even if they're weird
3. Thrashbarg's not here
4. It's technically my homeworld
5. A few potentially not-boring people
6. Getting to play with practically archaic programming languages
7. Chucking stuff at the barrier and watching it bounce
8. Planet is still here and not so much hyperspace dust
9. Potential to scare locals with space-time-probability and aliens talk
10. Having my own living space

The medical advances in this world are simply stunning.

The deaths from infection have plummeted due to the use of new antibiotics, and the deaths from heart disease, cancer, and other major killers have made such a drastic drop that I can see the human race achieving immortality in the near future.

Forgive me, the medicine in this time seems like a doctor's dream. I know medicine is not perfect, but it's shocking how far it has come.

In other news, the computer is an amazing research device.

[info]random_dent

Has anyone seen my spaceship? It's a silver RW6, the very newest model I stole it from I hope nobody's borrowed it for research.

Also, does this planet have a single computer terminal?

Don't get me wrong. It's great to see other humans. Really. And this is - bloody hell, this is Earth, isn't it, I'd just expected it to be a little less boring. Maybe I'm in the wrong place? How far away is Islington?
