This is the first time ever I'm missing the celebration for Independence Day in my country. It's throwing me off not hearing all the craziness in the area but maybe I'll do a less work, tame fun of my own to celebrate later or on the streets. Still Feliz día de la Independencia! Or ¡Viva Mexico! because I didn't do that shout out yesterday for the start of the celebration.

It's the start of Hispanic Heritage Month and I, Elizabeth Ortecho, am proud to be a Mexican-American woman. My parents risked everything to come to America as immigrants and Papi did everything he could make sure my sister and I had a good life here. We grew up speaking more Spanish than English, learning to make authentic Mexican dishes, listening to Latino music, and stories about the old country. Being Mexican is such strong part of my identity and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Okay, everyone! Saturday! Food Club! At the park!

...okay, I'll stop with the exclamation points now.

We'll meet at the park in the apparently comfortable but slightly frigid ice shelter provided by ACTUAL DISNEY QUEEN Elsa. If you can, try to bring something a little different than you did the last time so we can keep things fresh. It'll be way more fun that way, I think.

If we get good at this, we could even start doing themes, but let's not get carried away.

And those of you who didn't want to bring food last time but still wanted to come snack, we could always use plates, cups, and drinks. Feel free to bring some of those along!

Shuri and I spent the night working with anyone we could get in touch with -Thanks especially to The Doctor and Jemma for their help and support.- trying to figure out a way to address a situation outside the realm of my experience.

It seems as if our people are being targeted by some kind of organism of alien origins. The thing consumes them in a living pod and keeps them alive while a 'copy' of them is sent out into the town to masquerade as our people. The pod reacts to stimulation. Fire seems to be the best way to get through it.

I don't have all the answers. As far as I know? No one here has all the answers.

We need to figure out a way to fix this though. For our people. For ourselves.

If you think someone you know might be affected, chime in. If we get an idea of how widespread this thing is, we can better determine how to plan our attack against it. I'm thinking this is an 'All hands on deck!' kind of situation.

Let me hear you, Madison Valley. I need to know me and mine aren't alone under this dome. Let's do this.

Under the circumstances, with Sally and now Kate gone, too, I'm going to make the executive decision and close Stature for a couple of days. Hopefully the Dome will be a nice and friendly sentient being and bring Kate back asap but if not, I think it would be stupid to let her store die.

So we'll take a couple of days to regroup and to hope she comes back soon and then we'll reopen and figure things out from there.

August 3rd! The first official Foodies Club gathering. (Name can always be changed, seriously, don't let me name things. Children, yes, things, no.)

Ella, are you still able and willing to host? If so, we'll all be meeting at Ella McCree's. Bring a dish that you enjoy and would love to share with others. No, you don't have to cook it yourself, but I'm sure if you wanted to but don't know how, there are plenty of people here who could help. Can be appetizer, entrée, or dessert worthy! So I had an idea during the cruise and I'm kind of piecing it together and if anyone is interested please let me know and if you think it's ridiculous and stupid...please let me know but gently because I'll probably cry.

I've noticed so many different cultures and people enjoying the foods from the different places we're all from. So I'm proposing a Foodies Club! ...okay, we can change the name. But I'm thinking like once a month, someone hosts. Everyone can bring a dish they enjoy and want others to try. We can rotate out who hosts and who brings what but I thought it might be fun to share and try new things. Plus it might help other new people here make some friends.

OR you could just be like "Allison, sweetie, that's nice and all, but no..."
