Last week, someone in the bookshop pointed me towards two books; Pride and Prejudice, and something called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. They thought I might enjoy both, because of my training and my name is the same as the characters.
I have read both, and, while I do respect Ms. Austen's attempt at character, and her creativity, it is almost..[Her voice fades a moment]. Her work is rather bitter sweet. To imagine someone taking my story, but writing it without the Undead, and so that everyone has a life where constant death is not so large a threat. I fear it almost makes me envious, and yet I do not think I could ever give up my training, if allowed the chance.
This Mr. Green however, the more I into the story, I found it so ridiculous and over the top in areas, that I wonder if he had not written the entire thing while under the influence of laudanum, or recovering from a fever dream. He does correctly report that my sisters and I traveled in china, and yet he frequently calls to attention that we train with katana swords, make use of throwing stars and train in a dojo.
Perhaps I should be offended at such a blatant disregard of cultures, but the rest of the story reads so much like an old fashioned 'blood and thunder' melodrama, I found myself laughing too much to feel angry.
Has anyone else read these works? I was informed that the book from Ms. Austen has become rather famous.
