It's not really so bad. Most of the other kids are scared of me so that's - well, Cato's right, most of them are weak and pathetic.

And I got a place on the girls' lacrosse team. If there was a girls' football team I'd be on that too but there's not. Apparently. Kind of annoying. Also apparently I need to tone down the aggression. I don't get it. I didn't even hit anyone.

But yeah. Not so bad.

Lissa, Georgia and I have taken your concerns into consideration and discussion. In response for a request of our intentions we're releasing a brief statement of issues we deemed important and will therefore address at the first Council meeting.

The issues follow as:
- Guardianship for those under 18
- The ban of magic
- Use of the hospital facilities
- New arrivals

1. Guardianship.

We propose that financially stable Refugees present become guardians for any new arrivals under 18 years of age. You'll also be given first priority if a member of your family arrives, financial status notwithstanding. In order for this to be effective we've determined that volunteers should step forward if you're willing and able to take on a child. You should tell us the age group you're comfortable with, if you're comfortable with magic users, and how many children you are able to care for. In addition, the children already present should be given a choice about coming under the guardianship of Refugees or staying with their assigned family.

2. Magic ban.

We're against the ban of magic as a whole and will appeal to the Council to remove it entirely.

3. The hospital.

We've agreed that our population should be permitted to use the hospital services, as the separation from hospital to clinic has split resources and left the city as a whole exposed to health concerns that effect us all, Refugee and local alike.

4. New arrivals.

Given the treatment by the city many of us receive upon arrival, we're requesting that one of our number be present during the initial welcoming phases with new arrivals. We need several volunteers to be on hand for this task as new arrivals appear in the city at any hour.

Hey guys! This is the official Halloween party thread. You may tag into it ICly and interact with each other, or you may tag it OOC and just tell us what your character(s) did or are doing for the night. The hall was officially decorated by Caroline, there's food with the appropriate Halloween themes, music and general entertainment. Justine did also add in a gaudy Halloween sign that says 'Happy Birthday Harry' and there will be cake. There is a costume contest, I don't know how you guys want to decide who won that, but go for it and have fun! Justine is also personally greeting everyone and handing out bags of assorted candy.

Hello audience and fair-weather friends!

I don't actually like repeating myself. I only do it to annoy George and even then it loses its appeal when she reduces herself to eye rolling and physical abuse (don't you worry, I hit back). That said, there's a whole bunch of new people popping up--hello welcome to small town insanity I've got first class tickets on the crazytrain heading to crazytown--and there's some minor details I wanna air out for you. Mostly because it's easier this way and it'll save my sister a whole lot of effort explaining to you new comers.

George, myself, Daryl, Beth, Carol and Buffy are what amounts to walking corpses. Pretty neat, huh? Don't suck all the fun out of it though by making it more complicated than it actually is.

We're future zombies. All six of us. We're talking flesh eating undead that when you shoot us the first time we're going to get back up and require you to shoot us a second, third, and if you really suck at aiming, a fourth time before we stop moving. So the general advice is don't kill the walking biological weapons because it's going to end badly for everyone.

I don't know the sciencey terms Daryl, Beth, and Carol have for their particular zombie AIDs, but George, Buffy and I have a thing called Kellis-Amberlee. Basically what that means is that a filovirus is sitting in us, dormant, waiting for its chance to hip-check our brains out of control and make us start munching on neighbors and the neighbor's dogs and shit. There are a few ways for that to happen: we'll die, the disruption of our nervous system will cause the dormant virus to activate, or we'll come into contact with the live virus. The only way for that second option to happen is if George miraculously starts shedding eye goo, but since she's got zombie eyes that isn't happening. See her for details on Retinal KA. However, we'll also go into amplification--re: zombification--if we experience physical trauma.

In short, we're toxic and killing us, Daryl, Beth and Carol is a very bad idea. It's also a very bad idea to touch our blood or other bodily fluids at any time. All you need to become infected is by coming into contact with micron levels of our fluids that fit into a space smaller than this period .

Lastly, if we tell you to shoot us, you shoot us.

I've been thinking a lot over the past few days. Some things Georgia said really stuck with me and now after the violence at the theater I think-

I think I need to live by my principles more.

So I'm not going to let some stupid looter who thinks the only way to get what he wants is by hitting people scare me.

And I'm not going to let some corrupt government that won't respect people's rights scare me either.

That's not what Kenzo Yagai would do. That's not what my daddy would do. It's giving in, and that's not right. Not in my timeline when the anti-genemod people try to wreck things, and not in this one where anti-refugee people do the same thing.

So I'm going to pitch my stall where I want and I'm going to make all the money I need and I'm not going to let them scare me into hiding in a church for as long as I'm here. Because I deserve better than that.

I'll say this publicly because it's important.

I've been reading the debates and trying not to comment on things because I know this world is not mine and I'm not a politician. We nominated three people to be our political voice and I believe that they will do their best to make this a better place for us and keep us safe. They can't do that if we get in their way.

Now then, I cannot and will not vote for gathering a protective force. I also will not advocate everyone keeping to themselves or their different worlds. We have to find a middle ground and find a way for all of us to work together.

I'm from a world where people separated into different factions and swore to be against things that they thought caused the downfall of society and humanity.

And do you know what happened? Less than two generations later, there is all out war in my world because the faction with all of the technology decided that the faction with the least material goods were getting too much food from the ones who enjoyed life and drugged the faction that had all of the weapons to slaughter the peace keepers and the ones that were expelled from any of the factions.

Oh and guess what? Most of the ones fighting in that war are people half of you and the damn council would consider to be children. I'm barely sixteen and I have had to kill my friends to keep them from killing me. I've watched families being slaughtered over the fact that they support one faction instead of another. I'm watching all of the debates on the network and it's not this place that scares me. It's the people that should be working together because we are all in the same damn situation.

I won't give you all of my information for the same reason I won't give the town's leaders all of my information. Because no matter how many people in power say it's harmless information gathering, it only takes one person to twist all of that and ruin everything by using it as a hit list.

This, I know from experience.

Voting is now open. I've attached a link to a secure site where you can cast your vote. You can only vote once, and your vote is secret. If you're a candidate, you can vote for yourself. In fact it would be odd if you didn't.

Voting closes in 24 hours at which point we'll offer official support to the successful candidate.

Three doesn't seem like near enough people to me, but I suppose it's something we didn't have before. If we do this well and responsibly, maybe we'll be given more?

Anyway, I think we need to think carefully about who to send, and do this by consensus if at all possible.

To help out, I'll keep a list of nominations here, and you can discuss their merits and the drawbacks.

I've given some thought to those from different time periods, and we've decided to hold weekly unofficial 'classes' to catch you up on current technology and cultural awareness for the 21st century. But that also made me think of the women and men who don't know about the availability and reliability of contraceptives here in Madison.

If you're not familiar with the concept -- they are things that may prevent a woman from becoming pregnant. There are different forms you can utilize to suit your needs, but I'm not any sort of resource to learn about them all and will defer you to local clinics or any physicians we have with us here.

But I can answer questions to a limited degree, and am willing to go with you to clinic appointments if you're terribly shy or nervous about it.

If you're already on something maybe it would be a good idea to see the travel.. didn't mess it up unduly.

Does anyone else here think that the Council might have a point?

Before you shout me down, listen. I'm not saying I condone their methods. I'm utterly against them, particularly when it's children that that they're targeting. That's wrong. What they're doing is wrong.

It's not nearly as clear-cut as us against them though, is it? There are people with dangerous abilities here, and while some of them are just like you and me? Others might mean us harm. Maybe we ought to be less trusting of people just because they've arrived here the same as we have.

I've just heard that an underage citizen was taken to the council building by her foster parents. She says that she didn't consent, and she might have been drugged, she doesn't remember.

I'm passing this on to you because I trust you, or because I think you need the warning. Don't say anything in public, okay? This is getting scary. I don't know what to do.

I am *not* going to go and give them blood. I wouldn't let them stick me with a needle before and I sure as hell am not, now.

Don't go to that office and give them your blood and everything. They're saying it's for employment purposes, but they want us to go to school, not to work. They've got no cause to come after us, if the reasons they're giving are legitimate.

If they do? That tells us something. Something we need to know for sure.

Some of the adults are going to be scared about their jobs and they're going to comply - but we can take a stand for them.

As many of you do not have Social Security Numbers, or other means of identification, we would like each of you to come by the Clerk's office and fill out some paper work. We will be taking fingerprints, a blood sample, pictures, and asking some information about you, to keep on record.

If you do not come to the Clerk's office and register, you will be unable to find employment in the town, as this information is now required for payroll.
