WHO: Stuart and Jem Carstairs WHAT: He needs help with technology WHEN: Sunday morning WHERE: Starbucks WARNINGS: TBD STATUS: Closed/Ongoing
Jem had been out this morning for his morning constitutional. He would be glad when it got warmer, but that didn't mean he was going to stop walking just because it was cold. And anyway, it had become habit, and a habit he quite enjoyed. Getting out in the morning gave him perspective on the world and let him see the beginning of a new day. It was everything he needed to keep himself going.
As always, he stopped by Starbucks on his way back. It wasn't that crowded this early, and that was how he liked it. He would get his drink, read his paper, then take drinks back to Tessa and Will. They knew his schedule by now and were usually getting up just about the time he got back. It worked perfectly.
He got to the front of the line, ordered his coffee, and looked down at his phone. He thought it was rather ingenious that they'd figured out how to use their phones to pay. Usually, anyway. At the moment, his was dead. It wasn't coming on. The black screen stared back at him, and he paled, because he hadn't brought his wallet. He tried a few things, all of which did absolutely nothing, before turning to the person behind him in line.
"Do you know how to fix this?? I charged my battery. It shouldn't be that."
