I hope this letter finds you well. The weather has been so nice of late, though with the turn of fall, it is only a matter of time now before the first snowfall. I admit, I look forward to the the winter when things quiet down and we are all able to enjoy our families that much more.
It has been such a trying time of late, between the mining accident and now the murders. I know that your brother is particularly busy with the latter, and so I feel conflicted about the information I have happened upon. It is not often, you see, that I leave my home during the day. I had occasion twice today, once this afternoon and once just in the last hour. Both errands took me past the Brothel, where first I saw Sheriff Rogers departing and then entering again.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share this information with you, Mrs Simmons. I know that this cannot be easy to bear after everything, but I did not wish for you to be blindsided. Though we do not know each other particularly well, I am at your service. If there is anything I can do during this time, please do not hesitate to make the request.
