A few months ago I announced that there would -- for the first time -- be an election for the office of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. In that very same announcement I declared my intentions to run along with whoever else qualified. Shortly thereafter an announcement went out that Sheriff Swan would be retiring. Since then my office has been tirelessly working on getting everything prepared for the elections, which as of today, has an official date:

On Tuesday, March 1, 2016 everyone 16 and above can cast their votes at Town Hall.

All candidates have until the close of business on Friday, December 29th to official declare they will be running. This can be done in person or by delivering a signed letter to my office.

Qualifications to run can be found here and here. They are also posted just outside the entrance to Town Hall.

And on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 all candidates will gather on the stage in Town Hall and convince you all to vote for them. More information will be released after the holiday.

It is with a heavy heart, that after weeks of self reflection and discussions with those in my inner circle, I am announcing that I have decided to pull my name from those running. While serving as your Mayor has been an absolute pleasure it is time I shifted my focus and experience something new. Victoria, I wish you luck and you certainly will always have my full support.

After giving it a lot of thought, I've decided to resign as Sheriff of Storybrooke. I've enjoyed my time working with everyone but I think I would like to spend time with my family. With all the superheroes and magically gifted people in town now, we're more than equipped to handle any crisis that comes our way. Also, I'm not going anywhere so I'll still be around to help if I'm needed.

So, along with having elections for Mayor and Deputy Mayor, we will also be having elections for Sheriff.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR NOMINATIONS

• Must be over the age of 25
• Must have some sort of experience in law enforcement.
• Must have lived here for at least five months.
• Must be able to prove that you can handle the job and all of the quirks that are unique to Storybrooke.

My father David will be acting as interim Sheriff until the elections.

Good Afternoon Storybrooke!

I hope you are all doing well and can spare a moment of your time to read this announcement.

For the last 31 years I have held the title of Mayor. While Storybrooke would not exist were it not for actions I took long ago, it is not I, but all of you, who have shaped Storybrooke into the town it is today. I’ll admit that I did not have high hopes when the first group of you began arriving. In fact, I wished that we could find a quick solution and return you all back to your respective homes. But I was wrong. So, much has changed in the last 2 years, and as we move forward changes will continue to occur. I hope they will be for the better of you and our wonderful town.

The first of these changes will be a special election on November 5. This election will not only elect a Deputy Mayor -- a position we have never had -- but also open up the seat for Mayor. I have given this months of consideration. And I have spoken with those native to Storybrooke and we all agree this is a step we should take.

It is also with careful consideration, and discussions with those close to me, that I am announcing that I will be among those running. Though 31 years is a long time to sit as Mayor I have truly enjoyed the time that I have held this position. I look forward to being reelected to this seat and continuing to serve you all.

I know many of you will jump at the opportunity to seek a nomination but I must ask that you consider the responsibility you will have. Serving as Mayor is no easy task and the position of Deputy Mayor will be no easier. Especially here in Storybrooke.

As Mayor of Storybrooke you will be required to fulfill these primary duties:

Preside over all town council meetings.

Draft, Manage and Release the town budget.

Give final stamp of approval on the yearly School Curriculum for each grade level.

Listen to and address the serious concerns brought forth by Storybrooke citizens.

First and foremost, the Mayor must have the best interest of the town and its citizens at heart.

As Deputy Mayor of Storybrooke you will be required to fulfill these primary duties:

Assist the Mayor in drafting and managing the town budget.

Review the yearly School Curriculum for each grade level and pass it on to the Mayor for final approval.

Listen to all concerns brought forward by Storybrooke’s citizens.

It is the responsibility of the Deputy Mayor to determine what concerns are serious and which are not.

The Deputy Mayor will pass along all serious concerns to the Mayor and all other concerns he or she will address.

First and foremost, the Deputy Mayor, must have the best interest of the town and its citizens at heart.

Should they hear any concerns of a magical or supernatural nature, both Deputy Mayor and Mayor, should reach out to the magical community in town.


The criteria for gaining a nomination is as follows:

For Mayor:

Each candidate for Mayor must be 30 years of age or older.

Each candidate must have lived in Storybrooke for 1 year or more.

Each candidate must be in good standing with Storybrooke’s Law Enforcement

Each candidate must be vetted by a minimum of 5 current residents of Storybrooke.

One of whom who must be a member from his or her own world.

For Deputy Mayor:

Each candidate for Deputy Mayor must be 25 years of age or older.

Each candidate must have lived in Storybrooke for 6 months or more.

Each candidate must be in good standing with Storybrooke’s Law Enforcement

Each candidate must be vetted by a minimum of 3 current residents of Storybrooke.

One of whom must be a member from his or her own world.

Should a candidate be the sole representative of their world then this requirement is waived.

Tomorrow I will be informing all inhabitants of our lovely town that nominations for a Deputy Mayor are now open. You are the lucky ones who get to find out early. This has been on my mind for quite some time now. And while perhaps choosing candidates from among you may be preferred by most if not all, they won't be. I have spoken with the lovely mayor about a means of employment, and she has allowed me to start a small business providing care for the many infants and younger children in this town.

I assure you, I am well experienced in caring for young ones and it seems this is a service that is becoming more necessary. Besides, I cannot spend all my time at the Hanged Man, and the enforcement of the law in this place is quite different than what I am used to.

It's come to my attention that there is an interest in a pumpkin carving contest being held. It was also brought to my attention that a fall festival would also be of interest to you all. In celebration of the season, the fall festival will take place on the 29th - 31st of this month. If you're a responsible adult and would like to be on the planning committee you should contact me. And I'll then put you in contact with the head of the committee.

Mayor Mills, I know this isn't exactly the normal route to take, but given we live in a magical town governed by random portals, and you and Clint are friendly, I thought I'd try this first.

With the town closed and the population going up and down constantly, I figured there probably wasn't much available real estate, aside from the apartments. But given the size of our household and how often one or another of them picks up strays, I'd like to find a house to move them all in to (assuming they're willing).

Before I start floating the idea, I was wondering if you might know of some place? Or even some open land, or who to talk to. They have too much time on their hands, maybe I can make them build instead of find stray cats.

Any help you can give would be welcome.

I love watching sports as much as the next person, and thanks to all of you, I've actually been making decent wages from tips for once.

However, I'd like to make a few things clear

Any and all fights that break out only make more work for me and the other servers by having us clean up broken glasses and tossed food. I don't care if you made a bet on a loosing team or the other team is made up of 'tools'-if you need to throw a few punches, then do it outside.

I was hoping to take a personal day Thursday, if that's all right. Nothing serious, it's just my birthday and I figured a day off might be nice.

I would really love it if there was a place to go zip-lining. It's one of the things I definitely miss about being back home with the Dauntless.

Science fair projects end up much more interesting but much less scientific when there's magic in town. So far, my favorite was a project obviously done in twenty minutes the night before where they tried to explain why animals are likely to be able to talk. The conclusion was that they probably are already talking, we just aren't listening. Their research was a list of movies that aren't available to watch anymore, so they said we should just take their word.

I'm really glad I don't teach teenagers. At fourth grade, the teacher glare still works. And at least all the truth confessions I'm listening to mostly involve things that don't make me want to buy earplugs.

I still feel like I should avoid all adults until this is over, though. And I know it's probably not fair, but I still blame Regina for everything that goes wrong here.

The more people show up here, the more I realize that I'm not qualified to run things. I have a heart that people don't really see, because I don't want them to see. I don't believe in things like happily ever after, or love anymore. Not romantic love. The only person that matters is my son, but I wish it had been different sometimes.

As soon as this honesty thing stops, anyone who brings this up to me in person is not going to like me afterward.

When you fell through that portal, after you were shot...a part of me actually hoped you were dead. After all the pain caused in the past, I just wanted to be able to move on. I didn't want to go through all that again.

So with that in mind I will be seeing about opening up a magical supply shop, given that running one is the only job I've ever had, and I hope to open soon. After I get things. Oh my gosh, school is starting next week, right? I should get an alarm clock! And books! And do we have a uniform?

It's been two three two? a couple of years since I started school without my friends to help me study. And I really miss them right now. Usually Makoto would make me a really delicious lunch for the first day, too, so I'd definitely remember to show up.
