I do not understand how magic can make you want to tell the truth to a device. It's not even a real person. It's maddening. I hate magic.

I don't actually hate Anders all of the time, anymore.

I am getting accustomed to not wearing armor, and then hate how vulnerable we are in this town that never expects demons or darkspawn or blood mages. I like it, and hate liking things. They are too likely to vanish.

I hate that the Ferelden King is here, because he was a friend and fellow hero to Neria, and I cannot compete with a human King. Even if he has strangely shaped eyes. And looks just like another from this town.

I just want her to like me more. I do not see why she would. I have done terrible things, and she is good.

The television still startles me sometimes.

I hate magic.

Apparently I was acquainted with a pirate when I was here before, and opened a tavern.

I must say, that is the easiest that I've gotten a job. He just showed up and told me that I had a place to work. Not that I plan on doing much working, but hanging about a bar is something I'm very good at.

Well, this is strange and new and not at all disconcerting.

To whoever owns the metal vehicle of strange shape that is colored like a slightly rotted tomato, I apologize for the dog. There is a lot of new territory and he has strong opinions on how much marking is needed to make it his own.

A young woman named Jessica has just fallen out of the sky, and seems confused about it. I blame the absurdly tall buildings nearby. Neither of us are quite sure what to do about the plummet, though she seems unconcerned about the buildings.

The woman who greeted me - not the one who fell on my head, the one who showed me this device - said there were others I knew here? So ... hello?

Still a better welcome than Kirkwall.

My friend Claudine was asking about a Halloween party for us adults since the kids are having their dance and it occurred to me that it could be good business. Y'all might even already be planning something, but if not, what do you think?

It's strange to be living somewhere with actual seasons. We had seasons in Bon Temps, but nothing like this. I'm looking forward to getting to see some snow, assuming we're stuck here that long.

Three people have dropped pots onto my feet this week. If you cannot walk through a place without crashing about like a charging bull, you should not be allowed into a shop with breakable wares. And if you cannot control your children, then keep them at home until they develop manners or control over their limbs. I am tired of sweeping.

I find myself profoundly disturbed to say this, but I miss Varric's stories. There is a television on in the back room at all times. The owner tells me that it is playing soap operas. The quality of the stories they tell are somehow much less coherent than anything Varric invents.

All these dogs running about and not a single a mabari war hound to be seen. It's quite disappointing really. Especially when I had the misfortune to have one of these stray dogs hump my leg. A mabari would never do something so undignified. Roll in nug poop, sure. Hump a leg, never.

I'm sure all of you have noticed the influx of animals onto the town streets. It seems they were released from the animal shelter by persons unknown. Unfortunately, it also seems that the town sheriff and her deputy are averse to actually doing their jobs, as they have yet to round up the animals still free. Anyone who spots a stray animal or has information regarding the culprit, feel free to call the sheriff department anytime.

Those of you who have picked up animals off the street, congratulations on the new members of your family. The state of Maine requires that all dogs be licensed, and the town code additionally requires cats to be licensed pets as well.

You can find the requisite forms on storybrooke.gov, including information about rabies shots, other vaccinations, population control, and the spaying/neutering services offered through the town animal shelter. There is a fee - $5 to $12, depending on the animal.

Please keep in mind that town code also requires animals to be collared and leashed in public. Thank you.

Tomorrow will be what you all refer to as a Friday, which means you'll be let out of work in preparation for a relaxing weekend.

Conveniently enough, tomorrow night is also the grand opening of the new tavern, The Hanged Man. Call it destiny, convenience, or excellent planning, it doesn't matter. Come and join us for a night of ~~debauchery~~ frivolity and good company!

Also, you shall all have the utmost pleasure of hearing the bard, Leliana, entertain. It's certainly not something to be missed.

I appear to have run out of clothing. Not that I had much to begin with.

Otherwise I'll just walk around naked. While I don't find that an issue, I know some more prudish people in this place do and I find dealing with the city guard tiresome. So to avoid a scene, would anyone be kind enough to spare me some clothing until I can clean what I do have?

The sorts of dogs they have here are all very charming and affectionate, yes, and some of them even seem moderately clever. But I don't think they quite compare.

My name is Neria Surana. I am the commander of the Grey Wardens of Ferelden. This is quite the inconvenience, but I will adapt. I always do.
