I was thinking about getting a job to support myself while I am here but it occurred to me that I don't have any qualifications. Is that something I should look into? At the very least I was thinking of something with children though I'm not exactly sure what. I haven't held down a job since I was a teenager. Never did got to college back home.

I decided that a job was necessary for survival here. So, this afternoon, I went to the animal shelter and applied for a job.

And walked out with a job. It's part time, but a job's a job, right?

It's weird, worrying about working and things like that instead of walkers. I can't let myself slip, though.

I'm still not accustomed to this technology, at all, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes. But I am accustomed to living in a place where I know my neighbors, and as it seems we're going to be neighbors for longer than any of us expected, I should probably put some effort into getting to know as many of you as I can.

My name is Mary, and before I was here, I was living in Kansas. It was the year 1983, which puts me about thirty years behind this place, and perhaps even farther than some of you. If you had any interest in sharing a little bit of your story with me, I'd love to hear it.

I've also been baking quite a bit, if anyone would like some. As a neighborly gift.

It is official, I don't want to leave this place. It isn't home but compared to what home has become it is definitely better than it. I have some friends here and while a lot of our group is still missing it is definitely preferable to what we had before.

I'm in the process of looking for a job as I'm aware without Rick being here I don't have any means to support myself but I'm not sure where to start looking as I actually haven't worked since my part time jobs as a young adult and teenager. I am thinking of something with children though, perhaps babysitting or childcare?

I am so confused.
