Who: Abraham Lincoln and Liz Ortecho What: Matchup Where: Walmart When: Friday, July 26. Warning: Low. Status: Closed | Completed Gdoc
Abraham wasnât too terribly fond of Wal-Mart, but he knew it was a necessity to go there every once in a while. Especially when he needed more than just groceries. But at the moment, he was in the grocery section of the store. He was currently trying to decide between red or green bell peppers. Because he liked both, and they were both good for various things.
He might end up getting both, he wasnât sure. It was a tough decision, choosing between two different colors of bell peppers. A very important decision, really.
He sighed softly, and tossed both into his basket. Because he had really been putting too much thought into it.

A lover of fresh vegetables, Liz hit the produce aisle first for her shopping venture that day. Grabbing a few bags, she began loading them up as she went through the isles, tieing each one off carefully and putting them in her cart when she had enough. When she got to the peppers, she went to the smaller spicy ones rather than the bell pepper to add some New Mexican flare to her dishes. âWhat are you going to make?â She wondered when she saw him put both red and green into her dish. She was always looking for inspiration on what to make and maybe this guy could give her some.
***
âI have no idea,â he admitted, honestly. âI just know I want to use the peppers for something. And I couldnât decide if I liked green or red better, so I got both just to be safe.â He eyed Liz for a moment, his head tilting slightly. âWhat are you making?â he asked, curiously. He was always up for new ideas, and maybe she could give him some inspiration.
âI was thinking about maybe making some spaghetti,â he decided. âThe peppers would go well in the sauce.â He considered this for a moment, then nodded slightly. âYes, I think Iâll make spaghetti sauce.â

âIâm sure youâll come up with somethingâ She suggested as she began picking through the jalapeños to find a few that was good to add to her bag.
She got not being able to decide between two things and just getting both, though she didnât do that often. She was pretty definitive when it came to her food choices. Men on the other hand, that was a different story. A story that didnât matter anymore because she had Max and she was committed to him.
âIâm going to make some Four Alarm Chilli, Chiles Rellenos, and Huevos Rancheros. Maybe some stuffed poblanos if I have enough leftâ She replied as she put her chosen peppers in the bag and closed it up, putting it in her cart. There, she was done in the pepper section now. âYouâll have to let me know how it turns outâ

He nodded a bit at her words, âI will. I am sure there is something I can use the peppers in.â There were a lot of options for bell peppers, he could use them in various recipes. He wasnât too terribly picky about what he would use them in, he just knew that they were definitely needed. He was fond of fresh produce.
âAll of that sounds absolutely delicious,â he said with a smile. âI am rather fond of spicy food myself. Spice seems to give it more flavor.â Of course, if the food was too spicy, it wasnât terribly good. Sometimes people went overboard when it came to spice.
As he didnât need to eat, he preferred spicy foods when he chose to eat.
âAnd you have to let me know how this chili of yours turns out.â

âThey can go in a lotâ Liz commented as she moved her cart away from the aisle so others could get there. She was still close enough to him that they could chat. She didnât need to move onto the next part of the store just yet. She could sit there and talk food with him for a few minutes more.
âI grew up in New Mexico, spicy food is all I knowâ Well that and diner food because of the Crashdown but that was pretty common and didnât add much to the conversation. There wasnât much time to really go into her background anyway. âI just hope my boyfriend gives it a good review. Itâll be my first time making it for himâ

âNew Mexico has the most delicious food,â he said after a moment. âAt least, the last time I was there they did.â He hadnât been to New Mexico in quite some time, but he was rather fond of the food there. Or, at least, he remembered liking the food. âTell me, then, do you prefer red or green chile?â
He did remember that about New Mexico. People were generally on one side or the other when it came to their chile peppers. Red chiles tasted different from the green.
âAnd I am sure your boyfriend will approve of anything you make for him,â he told her with a smile. âI am sure it will be delicious.â
***
âCompletely agree. Thereâs really nothing like itâ She commented with a nod of her head. At the question about the peppers, she turned back to look at them as she thought about it. Which one did she like better? After a moment, she looked back to him. âChristmas. I couldnât possibly chooseâ She was the same way when it came to salsa.
âWhat about you?â
***
Abraham considered the question posed. He truly liked both flavors of peppers, so he was with Liz on that one. It was nearly impossible to choose which one he liked better.
"I'm going to have to go with Christmas as well," he said with a smile. "I almost went with green, but red has strong pros in its favor as well."
He decided to grab some chiles as well. Because he was now in the mood for some spice.

âGood choiceâ She replied with a smile. She watched him for a moment before she grabbed her phone and checked the time. Time flew when you were having fun. âWell I should really get to the rest of my shopping. Let me know how things goâ She told him, setting her phone back into her cart as she pushed it forward. âLiz Ortecho is who youâll want to contactâ She added on as she began walking away.

"And I should get to the rest of my shopping as well," he said with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Liz. I'm Abraham Lincoln." And with that, he started toward the coffee aisle. Because he may be addicted to coffee. Just a little bit.
