Who: Anyone who wants to bring foods!
What: FOOD CLUUUUB!
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: The park
Warnings: People, you are in PUBLIC! But if I need to lock this please tell me :)

After the first one had gone so well, Allison was pretty excited to attempt a second month of the Food Club. (Which really did need a proper name) And the fact that they were getting their own ice fortress built by Elsa, Queen of Arendelle? Icing on the cake, really. The really good cake that someone had brought.

She'd borrowed some tables from the theater to set up and covered them with cheap plastic table cloths because that seemed easy enough, really. There was plenty of room for everyone to place their dishes and Allison couldn't wait to try a little of everything.

When Anders heard there was free food in the park, he was all there. Someone had tried to explain to him all the intricacies of the food club, Anders pretended to listen, but it was more like 'blah blah, boring boring, free food, park.' So Anders made his way over, dressed in dark jeans and a nice collared shirt looking put together as he usually did. He did have something with him, if you counted the fact he had a take-away coffee cup with him that he occasionally sipped on. Last night he had stayed up too late partying and that had gotten the better of him. It was okay, though. It felt almost like home that way... only he didn't have Dawn to bring him everything so he didn't have to do anything while he weathered the hangover. Thankfully it was the afternoon now so it was mostly all gone.

He walked through looking at the tables with the food set out on them. Some of it looked delicious and other items he was definitely going to avoid. It seemed like there was no quality control for this event. It was free though, so that was nice.

Amy was not one to turn down free food. Even if she had decided to bring something, the rest of the food would be free. So she found a rather tasty looking pie from Wal-Mart, and decided that was good enough to bring to the food club shindig. After all, she was bringing something. It wasn't specified that she had to make food.

She was wandering around the park, and spotted a man who appeared to be a little hungover. Maybe. She wasn't exactly sure. But she decided to approach him, because he seemed to be one of the new arrivals in town. Which could explain the slight hungover look he had.

"Hello," she offered, with a small smile. Because she could be friendly.

He took a sip from his overly expensive coffee before turning his head. He blinked and looked down at the pie and then back to her. "Hi." He paused. "You're not trying to give me that whole pie, are you? Because as much as I like a good pie, I'm much more of a cupcake kind of guy." Actually, he was much more of a alcohol or drugs for dessert kind of guy, but that seemed inappropriate to bring up.

Rowan was excited for the whole food club thing considering it gave her a chance to branch out on trying dishes that she never really made back home. Sometimes it was easier to stick with stuff she knew would reheat for her dad after his long shift or wasn’t going to go bad with only two people in the house. Then once Rowan finally ended up with friends, they were a bit busy with other things to do the normal friend stuff with cooking or goofing off. Which was why she took full advantage of the whole food club thing to try out new stuff, especially things she hadn’t done or made in a while.

This one she decided to go with something Hailey and her had made during one sleepover, which Rowan honestly couldn’t even remember how they came up with this idea. All she remembered the look given to them both for the mess they left overnight when they were baking. Putting all her popsicle brownies that she had made all arranged in the few different colors she had used, Rowan had set off for the place where food club was going down. Setting the plates down and uncovering them, Rowan then moved off to see who was here along with what food.

Moving around a few people, she came to a stop when she found herself near a few people who were talking and not paying all that much attention. “Excuse me, I want to slip on by here please,” she called out as the people moved a bit so she could squeezed on by to finish looking around before deciding on where she wanted to start.

Rowan had way more guts that Ned did. Maybe it was the whole 'I just showed up to this weird place' thing or the constant budding of Flash back home at school during lunch, but Ned wasn't good at forcing his way into groups. It looked like there were some delicious foods on that particular table - was there a chocolate cake? Probably he should just stick to the other tables. One of them had a really cool looking layer dip that looked like it tasted amazing.

His stomach growled. He had been telling the truth about being hungry. Sure, he supposed he could have just been hungry before he showed up, but it sounded cooler if coming to Madison Valley was what made him hungry, right? He also wanted to stress eat because even though he though this town was cool and his best friend was even here, he realized shortly after his family wasn't here and that was a real bummer.

Currently, he stood with an empty plate, unsure of where to go. His eyes drifted back to where the girl had pushed her way through. If it was crowded, it probably had the best food, right?

Rowan had made her way around to the other side, grabbing a few things until making the decision she’d come back once she ate what was on her plate. No point in going overboard since she didn’t want to waste food, especially after someone made it and someone else might want it. Better to go back if she was still hungry to sample some of the other dishes. Pushing her way back through, she noticed a kid around her age looking in the direction she popped back out of while avoiding the big group.

For a moment, she was tempted to go take a seat with her food; however, after everything back in her world, she couldn’t live with herself if she didn’t go see if something was up. He had to be new. Rowan made it her business to know everyone on the network for her own personal reasons, but she hadn’t seen him before, making her thing he was on the new arrival side of things. Walking over to the guy, she gave him a smile. “You okay? You’re new around here?” Rowan gave him a smile, feeling better about her choice to come over rather than avoid like she would have before the whole mess her life had turned into.

Zari loved food club. It was a great idea, especially for people like her who enjoyed food so much. She had many reasons for that, but at the moment, all that mattered was getting to share her enthusiasm with others. This time, she decided to bring lgeimat, the Middle Eastern donuts she made for Eid a few months back. They seemed to be a hit them, so she figured they would be liked her as well. She was almost certain her mother would be proud that she was getting back to her cultural roots with her cooking.

Of course, she was going to try what others brought. Maybe she would get to know more people, too. That's what these events were for, right? Or maybe it really was just about free food. She could see the merits of both. That's why she was wandering about with a plate full of food. She could totally mingle and eat at the same time.

Things were going well enough, but Allison forced herself into Super Hostess mode. She was everywhere at once, refilling drinks and cleaning up. She had barely had time to settle down and eat herself and she felt a little guilty about that. The whole point of this was to taste a bit of what everyone had brought.

Finally she forced herself to relax. Or, at least, to stress with a plate of food. She absolutely had a bit of everything, especially all the ethnic foods. "It's excused if I hit the gym again tomorrow, right?" She asked the first person near her, the pretty brunette who was known for the middle eastern food. Or, at least, known for it by Allison. The thing about this club is she was starting to associate certain people with their foods.

"I'd rather not call you donut girl, hi, I'm Allison."

Zari could also stress and eat at the same time. That happened often, actually. Food was comforting sometimes.

"I'd save going to the gym for a few days, myself," she said with a slight grin. "And I don't mind donut girl. I think most of my friends call me that anyway."

They knew her love for the delicious baked good. "You can also call me Zari, though. Nice to actually have a name to a face, I suppose. Also nice officially meeting you."

Sonya left Cassie with a babysitter for the afternoon. Perhaps she could've taken her along (and the nagging feeling wouldn't entirely shut up about it either), but the idea of getting out more for a hobby and away from her daughter, it couldn't be a bad thing. She knew Cassie would be bored anyway, with just picking over food to keep her occupied, and that was something she wished to avoid.

Food was always something important with the guys back home. Military issued food was better than it was when she first enlisted, but still, anything homemade was easily sought after. Sonya herself made a tex-mex chicken skillet, something she grew up with in Texas and herself made once a week at home.

She managed to find a place for her dish on the table, before looking around to see what else was on offer.

As promised, Liz brought sopaipilla to this month's foodie club get together. A daughter of two Mexican immigrants who opened a diner, she grew up around the kitchen learning how to make both diner food and Mexican food. This foodie club was the perfect way to bust out her family recipes and bring the much-desired Mexcian culture to Madison Valley.

The sopaipilla, a pillow-shaped fried pastry dough, was a dish she'd been taught by her mother before things went sideways. As she was making them, she tried to think of the good times she had with jer mother instead of the bad times. Tried being the keyword because it wasn't easy but she did her best. She didn't want to lose any ounce of happiness gained over the past few months over that woman. Having Ma and Maria around her as she made them definitely helped her.

Setting them down on the table with everything else, she stood by for a moment as she took a look at what else was there. It all looked so good.

The sopaipillas looked good, and being set next to what she made, Sonya couldn't help but thing there was something of a pattern. True, likely the woman who set them had actual ties to the dish rather than just being an 'affiliate' like herself, but she could appreciate the similarities.

"Seems to be a table for comfort food." Well, what she considered comfort food anyway.

"I brought traditional Russian stroganoff with smetana -it's basically a thicker sour cream- to top it. I used beef for my meat so it might appeal to a few more diners. Yours is Spanish?"

John Wick knew how to cook precious few things. The dishes of his original homeland were familiar to him since childhood; it was easier to fall back on the classics than to try to cook anything he had learned to love with his wife. He was glad he'd decided to make coming to the Food Club a regular part of his routine as it gave him a chance to meet more people along with the ability to flex cooking muscles he hadn't used in years.

"It seems as if there's a little of everything. I honestly haven't been able to decide where to start, but I saw you come in and I just got here myself so---starting with the newest arrival should work, right?"

John gave a throaty chuckle as he shrugged, his plate having only Sonya's skillet dish on it to start.

The only time Sonya's spent in Europe was in Western Berlin, just before the Wall came down. They needed soldiers fluent in German and Russian, and she happened to be fluent in both thanks to SF training. Ironic because they never stationed her in either Russia or Germany, but she appreciated learning them.

"Tex-mex," She corrected him. "Grew up in that part of the south, and it stuck." Not entirely 'authentic' as his was, but it was still from home.

"I just figured, start from one end and just take a small sample of what looks good." Thankfully, she didn't have much of a sweet tooth.

Ned had decided that almost all of the food looked so good that he was determined to try some of each. He wasn't sure if his stomach would hold everything, but he was determined to try nonetheless. He had a plate half full up with foods like sausages, devils eggs, some sort of meat sandwich, cheese, homemade granola bar and some sort of puff pastries. He continued down the table though. He was treating it sort of like a buffet where it would be easier to load up your plate rather than constantly go back and forth. Of course, the more he loaded onto the paper plate, the more the plate itself started to lose its integrity. When he came upon a skillet of delicious food, Ned went to grab some, but his food caught on the ground and he and his entire plate of deliciousness went teetering to one side.

Lucas was always down for free food. It wasn't totally free, since the price of admission was just to bring some food of his own. His family's cornbread recipe was a great almost fall sort of dish, so that was what he'd decided to bring as his entrance fee of a sort. He'd told Riley and his Dad that they should stop by, but he also knew their idea of a good time wasn't watching him eat tons, so he was more than content to meet other, like minded people.

He'd grabbed himself a slice of cornbread and a plate heaped full of food that everyone else had brought and then grabbed a seat, glad he'd brought his jacket so that he wasn't too cold in the ice fortress. Which, he definitely took a moment to appreciate the utter awesomeness that was sitting in an ice fortress eating all sorts of food. This was so cool.

It had taken a bit of creative thinking on Mike's part to come up with what to cook this time. He really hadn't been exaggerating when he'd told Allison breakfast foods were where his cooking skills beginning and ended. It hadn't seemed unreasonable to think that if he could make pancake batter, he could manage some cookie dough.

That had been a great idea in theory. In practice...well, they honestly looked a bit sad. But he'd tasted one, and the flavour was fine. So misshapen choc chip cookies with slightly crispy edges it was. Maybe the crispy bits were intentional. That sounded like a good enough story. He added his plate to the section that seemed to have the most dessert type creations, taking the time afterwards to browse the tables and see what looked good. Basically everything did, and his poor cookies looked even more pathetic next to a pretty impressive looking cake.

Yes, the sauce came out of a jar. The meatballs were frozen. It was probably one of the least impressive dishes on the varying tables. But Enjolras was still at least a little bit proud of his spaghetti. He hadn't burned it, hadn't needed Grantaire's help, and it was actually edible.

Still, he felt a little better when he saw the cookies being put down on a table. Someone else who didn't want to cave to store bought but wanted to participate.

And then he looked up and saw who had brought them.

Well. It really was past time to say hello. "I suppose lack of cooking ability comes with the face?"

Where there was food, Jughead Jones was not far behind. He loved food just as much as he loved writing and those two things came second only to Mal. He started with one plate, because he knew he could always go back for more, and took a little bit of everything. It was always hard to balance taking a little taste instead of a heaping pile, since he knew there were some things he'd definitely love and others he'd probably love.

Once he'd filled his plate as much as he could, overfilled it really, he turned to look for a place to sit and nearly bumped into someone. "Oh, crap sorry." Jug had protected his plate, so nothing had gone flying or anything there, but he did feel bad. "Did you get anything to try? It was all pretty good last time, so you probably can't go wrong unless you're allergic to something."

One of the good things about being in Madison Valley was that she was slowly adjusting back into semi-normal life. 2019 wasn't that far off for her and Madison Valley was a lot better than 2044. She'd even been able to get into a routine for herself by meal prepping more often. She wasn't a great cook by any means, but she did feel comfortable bringing a one pot chili dish to Food Club. That was one of the things that she'd really gotten better at over the past few months.

She put her offering in a crockpot that would stay warm for most of the evening if she was lucky and placed it on the table along with all the rest of the food that had been brought. Cassie made herself a plate and then moved to take a seat in the ice fortress type thing. It really was a marvel, even if she didn't understand quite how it had been erected seemingly overnight. Or possibly within just a few hours. She really didn't know.

She sat by herself, though when someone approached, she easily offered them a seat next to her.

Mazikeen had to work that night at the casino, running the Black Jack tables, but during the day, she was free to roam around Madison Valley and enjoy all the boredom she could take. She didn't think she would ever understand how people could be okay with living here. Outside of the Fair and those crazy pods, nothing had really happened exciting in the last month. It was downright sad and Mazikeen felt she'd probably end up going crazy despite only being here a few months.

Hearing that there was some kind of party thing, Mazikeen decided to go, but being that she couldn't cook? She came empty-handed and surveyed the table for a while before deciding on what to try. It was all about eating and if you didn't have food on your plate, obviously you didn't fit the bill to participate, right? So, she piled on the food and spotted a place by an unfamiliar woman seated in an...ice fortress? Okay, well that was at least something new.

The woman actually offered up the seat next to her and Maze claimed it, balancing her overflowing plate on her thighs. After a moment, she looked over at the woman. "So, this whole party is just about eating, right?"

Hunting on the grounds at The Settlement was nearly satisfying enough to leave Riddick feeling free in spite of the dome around the city. He'd caught several rabbit to prepare for the Food Club. There was an art to butchering any animal; small mammals tended to be more difficult to work up than large ones of the same origin. Riddick had found himself partial to rabbit after trying the free range options for hunters in Madison.

"Looks small, but has a good amount of protein to it. Real lean meat. Rubbed it with a grill prep I found I liked in the local grocer's store. The veg is fresh from The Settlement."

Riddick sat his disposable tray filled with small skewers of rabbit and vegetables on the table with the other options. He figured he'd given the person looking enough of an idea to let them decide on their own if they wanted to try it or not. No one would claim Riddick was any kind of real cook. It wasn't any skin off his teeth if no one was willing to try his food. He was there to try everyone else's more than share his own.

Free food was always going to be too big a draw for him to pass up. A lifetime of deprivation had taught Riddick to take advantage of every positive opportunity which came his way.

"I haven't had rabbit in a very long time." She mused as she collected a plate of food, including the rabbit. She looked happy as can be. Belle liked the food club.

She smiled at him, "I hear good things about the Settlement. Are you a resident?" She asked curiously, eyes bright, innocent.

She plucked up a few other things, before lifting a skewer of rabbit to her lips. She paused to breath in the scent then smiled at it and took a bite. She chewed it over for a moment before sighing happily.

"Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful."
