When my parents were younger, there was a great war, one that was said to be the war that would end all wars, but it most certainly wasn't. My father joined the British army once the next war began, less than a decade ago, for me. I had some small semblance of hope that, perhaps this time, there would be no more after, particularly after the victory of the Allies a few years ago; however, I've been researching events I've missed in the twentieth century, and I see that this is far from the case. I'm not entirely sure how to process all the events that have occurred.

So, I was here in the spring, and now I'm back. Glad I remember being here before. it makes it easier to adjust, because I remember how strange and in a way, scary everything was when I came here for the first time.

I'm really glad Phil and Erik and other people I knew are still here. That helps, too. For everyone else, I'm Jack. I'm 16, and so not looking forward to going back to school after the holiday.

A strange thing to be so far from home. I sincerely believed that I would not be here as long as I have been, but I can’t say I’m unhappy here. Blocked from Nina

Hanukkah starts tomorrow at sundown. Nina will expect to celebrate but I haven't really for so many years I hadn't even thought about it. I don't even know if we were raising her to all the traditions. Knowing myself I doubt it but she knows enough I can't skip it.
