Who: Erik, Octavia, Aurie What: Reaching out to Erik Where: Wooded area When: Evening Warnings: TBD Status: Closed
Octavia had been so caught up in her own grief because Bellamy was gone that she hadn't noticed that Nina was also gone. And apparently Charles as well. Either one would have been a terrible blow to Erik, but losing both of them...she couldn't even imagine the pain he was suffering.
She still recalled the absolute despair she'd felt when Lincoln had been taken from her. She had been devastated, emotionally distraught and unable to properly care for Aurie who was just a tiny baby at that time. Her friends had rallied around her and that had helped, but Erik had been the one, time and again, to get through to her.
Now it seemed, it was her turn to reach out to him. She set aside her personal grief. Bellamy was her brother and she would miss him terribly, and she would miss Nina as well. But they were gone. Erik was not. He was out there, somewhere, and he was hurting in the deepest, most terrible way.
Octavia headed out to try and find him. She left her sword and her knives behind, removed her belt because of its metal buckle. She might not have ever faced him when he was upset like this, but she knew not to approach him with any metal he could use against her. It didn't take her long to find the scene of his attack against Hiccup, the distorted scraps of metal littering the ground. She stood for a moment studying it, and saw the way Hiccup must have gone first, because it looked as if whoever went that way was crawling, leaving more of a footprint than a man on his feet would.
She instinctively turned the other way, and determined the most likely path Erik would have taken. She started walking and eventually saw him, a hulking figure in the distance. She studied him for a moment, then made a decision she hoped she wouldn't regret. She turned away and headed back to the house.
She held Aurie tight in her arms as they walked out to where Octavia had seen Erik. "We're going to find Erik, baby. And I need you to be brave, okay? He might be scary at first, but you know he loves you." She hated that she was in effect using Aurie as a pawn, but she knew if anyone could reach past his grief it would be Aurelia.
