Bellamy has strung lights along the path that leads to a place in the woods where he's decorated a bunch of trees. In the middle, in a clearing, is a large bonfire - the only place in the area not covered in snow. Bellamy's not much of a party guy, but there's a table with some drinks - hot chocolate, coffee, tea, hot cider, and some cookies and chips from the store. The fire will be going all night, so people are welcome to stay as long as they like.

It might not be Montana in the winter, and it's sure not Aspen Creek but after a few years, it's close enough that I don't feel some homesick for the winters there. I really don't miss the eight tons of snow, even if it is fun to go hunt in. But right now, already, I don't think I could ask for a better Christmas. And we're not even close to Christmas yet. That's just how good things are going this month.

My side project is pretty much up and running, the shop's giving me a nice raise, other things are going well, and I honestly am happier than ever. I can't really think of anything else that would make me any happier overall. At work, I'd like the engine I'm working on to behave and actually listen to me, but I'm not my old boss and I can't actually make metal do what I want with magic, so I just have to beat on it until it works.

I could have sworn I'd seen everything. Coyote as my father. Growing up with the Marrock [think King of the Werewolves, head of all the alphas] as basically my father (that poor fucker), Fae on my ass every six weeks, vampires trying to ruin my life, old spirits wrecking my weekends.

But nope.

Coming home to see turkey bones laid out on a table being reassembled with sinew is now ranking on the top five "what the fuck did I just walk in on moments" in my life. Thanks, Jaime. Living with a Necromancer is never boring.

I'm afraid to even ask. But I'm as curious as my Father. Thanksgiving is going to be interesting, isn't it?

The other night got me thinking, I have my house still. Would anyone be up to helping me convert it? I'm thinking of turning one room into dry food storage, digging out a root cellar, putting large freezers into a room or two, turning one of the small barn sheds into a smoking room for jerky and the big barn into a butcher room for deer and the like. But I'll need help putting it together.
