WHO: Mercy and Thor WHAT: Thor returns and talks to his sister WHEN: Recently WHY?: Because sis! WARNINGS: Spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok STATUS: Closed and Complete
Thor, headed out from talking to another, felt a pull, and headed toward the pull he felt. He knew who it was, and when he rounded the corner to her place of work to find her outside in a jacket, he smiled. “Mercy!”
And he headed toward her, hoiping to have lunch with her and to enjoy a nice break, even as he knew she would be shocked by his new visage. Hopefully, not too much. **** Mercy looked up then smiled, “Thor you've returned! I was worried.” He smelled like Thor with added… she couldn't place the scent. Her brow furrowed in worry. “Oh, brother mine.” She reached up to touch his face gently. She didn't get shocked, but she was worried..”are you alright?”’she asked gently as she finished buttoning her coat up. *** Thor pulled her in to hug her once she was done with her coat. “Got time for lunch?” He snuggled her close, and inhaled her scent, glad this had endured at least. Opening his eyes as he stepped back, he smiled softly. “It is good to see you again. I have been gone a very long time.” *** She hugged him back, smelling of oil and car stuff with coyote under it all. “For you, brother? Always.” She smiled at him, clearly pleased to see him here. “I was so worried you know. Hinkles or?” Because she was going to grill him on his entire change. *** “I’m sorry, my sister. Hinkles, yes.” He hugged her again and smiled, warmth and hope in his eyes. “It is good to see you again., It has been years.” Long years, when first he did not remember them, and then, suddenly, he had. And had missed this place ever since. *** “Not that long here, but fries await. You'll have to catch me up.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek in a friendly manner. “I once scared Clay out of his mind by vanishing, so now I know how he felt.” “Looks like you've got a lot to tell me too.”’ She'd hold the door when they got there. *** *** “Fries.” Thor’s mouth made the word a prayer of longing. He sighed at the idea, a sigh of desire and a groan of need. He smiled at her. He kissed her cheek in turn, a spark that would not hurt but instead banish tiredness touching her from his lips. “Sorry.” He stepped in and nodded. “I do. A great deal more than I expected to ever have to tell.” *** “Yes fries are clearly a heavenly gift.” She grinned at him. “And burgers too. Get what you want I'll cover it.” “Don't be sorry, you're fine, I needed a pick me up anyways. Do you know how tiring it is moving car parts all day?” She grinned at him. She found them a booth out of the way, then sat down, ordering two burgers and fries for herself plus a soda. After he ordered she smile. “Alright brother don't leave anything out.” *** Thor started in then, and took a long breath, then nodded and told her the story. It was long, and full of horror, pain, and worry, of camaraderie and battle, of some humor, and much loss, and in the end, a change of everything. Food came midway in, but he only sipped his drink until he was done, then fell on it like a ravenous man, while letting her take time to think on what he had told her, letting her absorb the years he had experienced in a week of her time. He ate, and drank, and watched her, willing to answer anything his sister might ask. *** Mercy picked at her fries half heartedly as she listened. That was a lot to absorb. “So basically you lost Mjolnir, took on Odin’s mantle, made some really hard choices which ended with Asgard destroyed and loss of life. That is s rough go of it and I'm sorry.” She got up to hug him..”I'm not sure what this coyote can do but anything I can please tell me.” She was obviously worried about him. *** Thor smiled, but it was an older smile, a tireder smile. He kissed her cheek and her hair and there was something almost fatherly, as well as brotherly, in it. “I will be well. I mostly need you to be you. Remind me who I am. Who I was. Help me not lose myself in what I have had to become.” He raised a hand, and between one blink and the next it glowed with power. He was taller, stronger, bigger in that moment, his eyes burned with it and the Earth itself almost groaned with the weight of his feet. “I am Thor Allfather, now. Responsible for over two thousand lives. The last of my people, save those out at the time, lost at the time. There are times I will have to be hard, and a king, a father, a ruler, and I do not look forward to those days. But I will need you to remember who I am. To help me remember, being a man, and a brother, and a playful kid sometimes.” He breathed her in and nodded. The power rushed away, back to the hidden vaults within him, and he smiled to her. “That is what you can do for me.” *** She responded by throwing a French fry at his face. “Don't think I'll let you forget, mister..you're my little brother after all. No getting high and mighty on me.” Though she smiled at him anyways. “I think you'll be okay, I mean I'm here so.” She nibbled on a fry and smiled. “If my father has taught me anything, it's that what you're given you can handle.” She wasn't phased much, she's seen an ancient volcano God, an ancient eat the world thing among others. He was simply easier to accept. *** “Good.” he threw the fry back, but only after dipping it in ketsup. “Thank you, Mercy.” he smiled a her and nodded. “Now how are you and the Shirtless Wonder doing?” *** She ducked the ketchup laden fry and laughed. “That's what I'm here for.” She took another bite of her burger and chased it with her soda. “Things are good. We're doing great.” *** “I’m glad to hear it.” Thor nodded. “Anything new happen this week?” He was curious. And, “How is the pack?” He was far more conscious of groups, now that he held the safety of a people in his hands. It weighed on him, even as he was relaxed some, here. *** She shook her head, “not really no. Things are just plodding along. “ she shrugged at him. “Pack is fine, not much bothers us. Not much can bother us.” She smiled a bit as she sipped from her cup. “Don't worry Thor, they don't realize it yet but they're pretty well covered. Coyote is a strong protector of his kin, they made themselves kin.” *** “And now they have another. For they are kin to me, by way of you. And if ever you need, or they, call on me, my name, and I will be there.” His words start out informal, but by the time he finishes, there is a subtle crack of thunder, as subtle as such things get. Congratulations, Pack, on being honorary Asgardians! *** Mercy gave him a look. “At this rate brother mine you'll have adopted everyone in town.” She teased as she smiled. “We are honored to have such friendship and family.” *** Thor smirked at her and poked her. “Not… everyone.” he chuckled and hugged her again, then sat back down and ordered more fries, and another two burgers. “I’m hungry. And I think my body now has a higher energy rate.” Which sort of made sense, if Thor had paid more attention to those classes, which he had not. *** She hugged him gently and laughed. “Yeah yeah, I know you won't. “ then she snickered at him. “Thor don't you know anything? You're burning more energy with more power, even I know that one. It's why we feed werewolves enough for an army.” *** Thor laughed and shrugged. “I think I skipped that class for battle class instead.” He sat back and smiled. Raising his glass of soda to her in salute, he smiled. “To the new, and the old, and fitting it all together, and to the adventures we will have.” *** Mercy lifted her soda “To the new and the old and all that fun stuff” she was happy he was back, his changes were something she could roll with. It wasn’t too much trouble for the coyote born after all. **
