A much belated thank-you to all those who attended the Ball on New Year's Eve.  It was a wonderful way to ring in the new year, here in Storybrooke.

It doesn't look like I'll be going anywhere anytime soon. The differences in technology here are really fascinating.

In other news, I'm doing a fluff piece for the paper and since Thanksgiving is this week, here's the obligatory question for us all...

I know that many of you are planning Thanksgiving celebrations with your own loved ones, but any and all of you will be welcome at mine and Charming's place. Dinner will start around 4pm, but I don't mind if you want to come by earlier than that and just spend time with us.

For those of you who don't know, I'm Belle and I'm the librarian here in Storybrooke. I just wanted to let you know that there will be an open house at the library next weekend. We'll be doing a book fair, where you can take some of the extra books from the library's storage, or donate new books to bring some variety. We'll also be doing a bake sale. It should be really nice. I hope so anyway Hopefully you'll all stop by.

Hello, everyone. Charming and I will be hosting a bonfire on the beach Saturday November 23rd beginning at around 4pm. Everyone is invited, no matter your age or origin and we do hope to see you there.

Thank you very much for Fix for the suggestion. It really was a wonderful one.

What are we meant to do all day here? We don't have to hunt to eat. Nothing that needs be done takes more than a few moments. It just leaves so much time to be filled. Everything is so easy to do that it leaves life feeling much more complicated.

I've broken the washing machine. What was wrong with washing things the normal way to begin with?

I imagine this is the best way to advertise lessons in swordplay.

The skill is not quite so much use in this world, but there is no harm in learning how to defend yourself if you wish and it is a way to maintain fitness somewhat. Plus, I readily believe the suggestion of a joust in the local park might well be frowned upon and this is a more acceptable use of my knowledge.

I cannot yet offer sparring, but I plan to. For now, the lessons would comprise mostly of sword position; parry and defence, as well as footwork and move on from there. For now the weapons will be light bamboo crafted arming swords. Eventually, I plan to graduate to steel, and though blunted you would require some form of armour for such practice.

I have many years of experience training and I will ensure you'll be quite safe. If I have the interest, lessons would be once or twice a week, possibly running for a couple of hours.

One of our newer residents brought up the idea of having a bonfire and I think it's a wonderful one. What do you two think? I would like to try organizing more social events for the portal refugees. Being displaced like this can't be easy on any of them and I think it might help.

I am exhausted! Granny's is certainly busier the last few months. And this Halloween things have been a little...crazy. I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow.

What is this place, and why are there children in ball gowns roaming the strange stone streets?

The sheriff's department is extending the curfew tonight for minors until midnight. For any trick or treaters, anyone under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by an adult or older kid. Not that's there's really any bad parts of town or anything, but this is just for safety reasons. Members of the sheriff's department (myself included), will be on call all night in case anyone has any problems and needs help. There's candy at the station, so trick or treaters are free to stop by.

Em and I didn't want to say anything while things were such a mess, because the timing wasn't really right, but you should all know now that I asked Emma to marry me. And she said yes.

Okay, I've spoken to some people one on one, but this is probably an easier way to go about it.

Everyone, try not to panic. There's a lot of unstable magic around because of the portals and the near destruction of the town, and the fact that it's taken this long for anything to happen means that it probably isn't very strong. I know it's pretty unsettling to wake up in a body that isn't yours, but it really is mild compared to some things that could happen. And odds are it probably won't last very long. A week or two at the most. I suck at this

If anyone has questions or needs help adjusting to this probably temporary inconvenience, please feel free to come by my apartment. I live in Tower One, Apartment 109.

Every time I think to stop for a moment to write here again, it seems that another crisis rears its ugly head.  On the whole, despite Regina's disapproval, I think we have done well.  Nothing about this situation is easy, for any of us, and I commend Storybrooke's residents- new and old- for their flexibility and understanding.

I had forgotten how freeing an afternoon ride can be.

What would you say to holding a ball next month, perhaps as a celebration of Snow and Henry's birthdays?  It won't match the celebrations we had at home, of course, but even still...  It has been too long, and we're overdue a reason to relax and enjoy ourselves, even for one night.

While it's nice to see familiar faces around this "modern" kingdom, I would not mind a rest from magic for a bit of time.

I'm sure all of you have noticed the influx of animals onto the town streets. It seems they were released from the animal shelter by persons unknown. Unfortunately, it also seems that the town sheriff and her deputy are averse to actually doing their jobs, as they have yet to round up the animals still free. Anyone who spots a stray animal or has information regarding the culprit, feel free to call the sheriff department anytime.

Those of you who have picked up animals off the street, congratulations on the new members of your family. The state of Maine requires that all dogs be licensed, and the town code additionally requires cats to be licensed pets as well.

You can find the requisite forms on storybrooke.gov, including information about rabies shots, other vaccinations, population control, and the spaying/neutering services offered through the town animal shelter. There is a fee - $5 to $12, depending on the animal.

Please keep in mind that town code also requires animals to be collared and leashed in public. Thank you.

Today is my birthday.

I don't know that I'll be throwing any kind of grand celebration, but some pie at Granny's wouldn't go amiss.

They're a bit nosey aren't they? I've not even been here a day and I'm already being asked my life story. I get why they're doing it, but some people don't like sharing secrets, y'know? Or is that just me?

Anyway, Lily Potter at your service! I know I was harping on about a holiday, but really I was thinking Italy... and with my family. But, I guess will do? Do you guys at least have ice-cream?

Tell me does anyone dance or sing here? I have always been a fan of balls and parties. A part of me wishes I could grow my own food like I did back home but there is no space and no one to help in the gardens here. All the vegetables taste wrong to me.

You know, when I was thinking that I needed a vacation from being king...this was not it.

Still, at least it's not Orlais. I can do without a place full of attempted assassinations, uprisings, fancy parties with stinky cheeses. Please tell me there will be no parties with stinky cheeses.

This place is a total death trap...there's curtains and hooks and So, let's say hypothetically I suspend belief because, really, I've seen some pretty messed up stuff...there's really, definitely, 100% without a doubt, absolutely no way back to where we came from...? Really? That's not just, like...something townies say to make you wanna stick around...?

Faith's post got me thinking. There are quite of a few of us fighter types here, right? This place seems pretty nice and quiet, but I don't want to lose my edge. Is there some kind of place here we can all train together? I mean, if the rest of you are interested. I haven't even seen a gym in town and a girl has to stay in shape!

Anyway, if you need anything that isn't better suited for Sheriff Swan or her Deputy, or the Mayor, please don't hesitate to let me know. I make excellent tea, for starters. I teach at the Storybrooke Elementary School, as well.

I know this isn't an ideal situation for most of you but please know that we'll all be doing everything we can to find some sort of resolution so that we can find Henry and but, in the meantime, we'll do everything in our power to make this place feel as much like home as it possibly can for you. We're small, as the Mayor already pointed out, but we have most of what you'd likely need.
